  1. What's the problem with letting prospects sit in AAA for an extra year? Why is there a need to bring guys up just because they are good? If we don't have a spot, we don't have a spot.
  2. In the case of Ben Sheets I think some coddling is in order. I am not to concerned if he has injury problems in the future, but I want him able to pitch in October, hopefully.
  3. Maybe a vampire/zombie hybrid doesn't like coffee much like vampires don't like garlic. Ned might be a hybrid hunter.
  4. It seems like many on this board think Gamel will end up at 1B. He might be in the majors around the time Fielder leaves and many seem to think he would be best at 1B given his defensive shortcomings.
  5. I think there were more people who wanted Bush in the starting rotation, but thought Parra had better stuff and would be a better pitcher in the long run. If we are going to pitch one of them, and basically get the same thing. I would it rather be Parra because he has the better chance of turning into something above avg. The problem is we aren't getting the same thing. Bush is going longer and not burning out our pen every 5 days.
  6. Add the wave and the fact it doesn't usually make it into the club level as another reason to sit up there.
  7. When I go I usually spend a little more and get Club level seats. I usually have my son with me and prefer not to have him listen to drunken idiots. I usually try to get seats in the first row no matter where I sit. Row is much more important than section unless you are in the bleachers, shich I avoid completley. The bleachers are hard to sit in even with the back on them. I think the Badger Mutual family days are just on Sundays. They are terrace reserved only if I am not mistaken and come with a free soda and hot dog with each ticket. They have to be bought in groups or at least 4 tickets. I think you can get them online, but I am not sure. I might be thinking of a different promotion.
  8. Good, because those virus zombies are usually really fast and a bat isn't going to do you any good. I am like this for doughnuts. Maybe that's what happens when a vampire bites a zombie. They hunger for doughnuts instead of brains.
  9. Are we talking about zombies created by radiation or zombies created because of a curse? Or are the zombies created from some sort of experimental government virus?
  10. I think the Astros would be crazy to trade the guy. They sign Sheets next offseason and they have an incredible one-two punch.
  11. Yeah, I think that needs to be taken into consideration when talking about signatures. I have a Ben Sheets from '01 and one from recently. He went to just making the first letter from his first and last name legible and a couple other letters from being able to make out almost every letter. If these guys are signing hundreds of signatures at a sitting they have to do something to speed things up. I think the best anybody can reasonably hope for is being able to make out the first letter of the athlete's first and last name. Basically the player's initials.
  12. Beating teams ahead of us can make that margin shrink pretty quickly.
  13. I am not sure that anybody here thinks Cameron is going to be "The Answer", but he is better than what we have right now and will help us. He has far and away had more plate appearance in the #2 hole over the last 3 years than any other spot in the order. In fact almost half of his AB have been in the #2 hole over the last 3 years. I completely disagree with Gwynn/Kapler in the #2 hole. All I can say is dumb, dumb, dumb. However, order in the lineup makes little difference over 162 games. Not enough to get to upset about it, but enough to be annoying.
  14. I would have sent Parra down as well mainly because he has yet to pitch more than 5 1/3 innings in any start. Bush's shortest start has been 5 1/3. Parra is about 1 K/9 higher than Bush and they have an almost identical BB rate right now. Those rates can obviously swing wildly with one good or bad start by either as can ERA, which seems to be the only huge difference between the two.
  15. I always sit in RF. I don't mind sitting in the sun, I just hate having the sun in my eyes for part of the game.
  16. Overall his stats may be pretty poor, but counting the 2 games this weekend he has had 4 games where he knocked in the winning runs in the late innings against us over the last 2 years. He also knocked in the first run in a 3-2 game with the Marlins in 2006.
  17. Funny thing with Turnbow is that he was excelent with inherited runners up until last year. I don't think that should be ignored.
  18. I had always heard good things about Helms off the field.
  19. I hate Wes "Fatty" Helms This guy has been beating us since he played for us. I had no expectations for him and he still fell short.
  20. I think Melvin put most of our players through waivers a few weeks ago so that they could be sent down at any time. He mentioned something about it and said most GM's do it. There is a gentlemen's agreement not to claim anybody. I don't remember exactly where or when I heard it. I would have thought Parra was the leading candidate to go down.
  21. That's the last time I talk up Hart and his "baseball smarts." At least for this game.
  22. Yeah I know. Gallardo really sucked last night. He didn't earn a win either. Hart has to be the player on our team with the most "baseball smarts." Hall, not so much.
  23. To bad our starter didn't pitch well enough to earn a win.
  24. This was originally posted by Russ in a sac bunting thread. It is from 1999-2002, but should still be pretty acurate. http://www.tangotiger.net/RE9902score.html
