  1. I have been waiting to start this thread since May of last year. I hope you all realize I have probably jinxed Sheets again this year by starting this thread. I say again because I posted something joking about Sheets getting hurt last year just hours before he got hurt.
  2. I just had the mental image of Ben Sheets as a hitting instructor.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  3. Well it took a few years, and the Brewers getting better, but Ben Sheets is no longer technically a loser. I don't think much of looking at W/L records of pitchers, but I know some people do. At least now, even using a W/L record, nobody can call Ben a loser.
  4. Kind of like what we were hearing out of Boston last year while he was there. I think Gagne is a good example, so far, of performance vs results. He has pitched pretty well, he has just had bad results.
  5. "Follow your dreams. You can reach your goals, I'm living proof...Beefcake, BEEFCAKE!" Edit: I just posted that quote for the beefcake part, but the rest of it fits pretty well since he worked hard to come back and play in the majors again.
  6. Run expectancies seem to show that they are pretty equal. IBB seems to make the shift to multi run innings while sac bunts make the shift to one or no run innings. In the specific case I mentioned the win expectancy was almost identical before the sac bunt and after the IBB. The odds of a no run inning were almost the same as well. Under 1% difference.
  7. I couldn't see much of the Brewers web page after they changed it, get the Gameday to work or get windows for buying tickets online to open up. Still can't with internet explorer. I downloaded firefox and it works on that.
  8. Ridiculous is using RBI's to compare a leadoff hitter to a middle of the order hitter.
  9. You mean the guy who just came off of a league record tying streak for scoring runs? I would agree with TLB, about 5 1/2 months.
  10. More importantly, Weeks is getting on base. Even without getting hits he is finding ways to get on. Not the last couple days, but in general.
  11. I think in this case that would be more of a benefit than a hindrance. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  12. Pretty much what I think as well. Everything about batting orders pretty much says the same thing. The most important thing is to have your 8 best hitters in the lineup as much as possible.
  13. My parents divorced when I was about your age(mid 20's). I know things seem bad right now, but I am sure everything will work out better than you expect.
  14. I could be mistaken, but I don't think they take age into consideration. Service time is much more important.
  15. Why? I think there is a good chance the Phillies seriously lowballed Howard with a $7M offer and they might have had a chance to win the arbitration hearing if they hadn't been cheapskates. Fielder doesn't have Howard's credentials, ROTY/MVP, so I think they could win at $9M a year.
  16. Does she have interest in any activities that are not generally associated with drinking?
  17. By the time the game from tonight gets shown I will have been Brewerless for approx. 69 hours. I hate the Bucks.
  18. You go on a 120+ mile roundtrip beer run because of a post in the beer thread.
  19. I am a firm believer that when it comes to relationships that familiarity breeds contempt. By this I mean, it is nice to have similar interests, but you are going to eventually need alone/away time from whoever you are dating.(not much, but some) If this is going to end up being serious you should have at least one or more interests that your SO has no interest or just a passing interest in(as long as she isn't going to nag you or really hates them). Although doing things together is really important. She should also be intelligent enough to carry on a decent conversation. I find this to be actually more important than anything else. By the way, I think you were possibly setting your expectations to high. It is better to go in with no expectations, especially early on. I know, all bad/crazy/rambling advice. Feel free to ignore it or do the opposite. Although I wouldn't consider myself Costanza like.
  20. I am sorry I insulted you. I should have left more of the original person's post in the quote as he was refering to showing up on days when the lot was likley to be full. I doubt that anybody has a problem with people showing up on days when the game is likely to be less than a sell out. Maybe saying you are not a true fan was incorrect. However, I think it is selfish and rude to show up for a sellout just to hang out in the parking lot when you don't have tickets. Edit: I am also confused why you would complain about not having money for tickets yet still spend money just to park instead of going to a friend's house or a park.
  21. Right, so why help the other team by adding one more distraction?
  22. Yes they are, but having to shake off a catcher who isn't calling how you like can disrupt a pitchers rhythm and make them feel less comfortable. Also, like Sheets said after Sunday, thinking gets in the way of pitching.
  23. Was that add the one where Prince tells the kid not to worry about striking out because he struck out a few times during his rookie year and the kid goes "yeah 125 times" and Prince does almost a double take at the kid? because that was funny.
  24. From everything I have heard, Wes Helms is a very nice guy and all his teammates liked him. However, he has been a Brewer killer since 2004. He killed us when he played for us and has had big games against us when he came back. Yes I choose to ignore his pinch hitting in his last year with us. It was to little, to late by then.
  25. As far as the game calling goes, I think Kendall is better, but our pitchers were saying nice things about Estrada at this point last year as well. I even think Sheets said something along the lines of "I shook him of a few times and regreted it each time" about Estrada last year as well. We'll see if they still like Kendall later in the year.
