  1. This team just isn't showing any emotion.
  2. At least the "Who would you replace Ned Yost with" thread didn't turn into another guy on a couch thread.
  3. The equipment manager should have been smart enough to know that cotton would shrink and they should order one size bigger.
  4. I think we should trade Ryan Braun since we have had a losing record since he came up. He is obviously the problem.
  5. Sorry, 20 miles each way is a bit to far to bike.
  6. Someone has. I saw it. Edit: Sorry to crush your silver lining.
  7. I am not sure how to feel about this team right now. On one hand they are hitting pretty poorly and are really hard to watch. On the other hand they are hitting so poorly they can only get better.

  9. A change of scenery always sounds good when things are not going well. Maybe the players need to be traded for a change of scenery.
  10. That was my thought as well. I know you can generally use innings instead of pitches, but he has been pretty inefficient.
  11. Well at the start of the year most people thought Parra should have his innings limited. Even the posters who thought Parra should be on the MLB team thought he should have starts skipped to keep his innings down. I guess my question is now what? He is limiting his innings by not pitching well, but I don't think that is really what they had in mind when they talked about limiting his innings. I don't like any of our potions to limit his innings at this point and they don't seem to be skipping any pitcher's starts.
  12. Yup, I understand that about people. Just don't expect me to like it.
  13. I believe LaPorta played left last year.
  14. danzig, His whole point, unless I am reading it wrong, was that most threads are vent threads instead of actual interesting discussions. I agree. I think he also mentioned that anybody with a positive opinion is pretty much being crushed by all the negative posters. Again, I agree. I guess right now it isn't cool to be positive. If the knee jerk reactions were confined to the vent thread it wouldn't bother me, but most new threads seem to be knee jerk threads.
  15. I wouldn't say they were conditioned unless you conditioned to like money. To me the bottom line is saves=big paycheck. So in many player's minds if they are the best reliever and they are not the closer, you are cheating them out of money.
  16. I agree with TLB. Please present this data. The last data we had showed that it was working pretty well. Everything I have read says it is a good idea. To be honest I think it is a wash at worst and at best will add very little.
  17. If I had to guess I would guess that LaPorta is limited in the way Carlos Lee is limited as an outfielder. Lee doesn't make mistakes in the field either, but would never be confused with a good defender.
  18. I actually disagree with this. I would rather have a multi inning pitcher come in during the early innings and pitch a few innings rather than blow out the pen. I personally hate the closer designation and would prefer Torres, Riske and Mota to also pitch the 9th inning if they pitch the 8th and the pitcher's spot doesn't bat. That's not how things are done in MLB though. Not a Yost or Melvin thing.
  19. There were also some people who thought CV wasn't as good as his ERA suggested. Also a lot of peole who thought we should keep Parra in AAA for at least half the year to keep his innings down and retain Vargas.
  20. No it really doesn't make a difference as far as fastballs are concerned. I don't have the link, but I am sure it is around here somewhere. It comes out every time Soriano talks about batting leadoff and seeing more fastballs. There was brief talk of Braun batting 2nd and Fielder 4th early in spring training.
  21. I generally think the oppostie way and I am sure others do as well. I hate the contract because a guy isn't as good as his contract(Suppan) instead of expecting a guy to play up to his contract.
  22. The leadoff spot actually sees more fastballs than ony other spot in the order. About one extra fastball every 4 days.
  23. I heard they were just expensive plastic. I also heard a bagel would work just as well, and is more tasty. Here are some ideas to save money. http://boards.1up.com/zd/board/message?board.id=games&thread.id=682895&view=by_date_ascending&page=1
  24. Went back and watched Sunday's game. Gagne got squeezed, but it didn't look like it was for all the hitters. I think he has pretty poor control. Kendall moves his glove quite a bit when Gagne pitches. On the first hit Gagne gave up he missed by the width of the plate. Several times Kendall was set up at mid thigh and the pitch ended up at the letters. I am not saying it is right or fair, but when you miss your spots by that much I don't think you can count on getting the borderline pitches. He looked to be trying to get the hitters to swing at bad pitches and when they didn't, he was in trouble. He didn't really get hit very hard either. Only two balls made it out of the infield. One was a F9 and the other was a base hit up the middle.
