  1. Would hoodwinked be a more appropriate term than stole?
  2. 1/3 cup Lemon juice 1/4 cup Olive oil 1Tbs Dijon Mustard 2 large garlic cloves, chop fine 2Tbs Bell peper, chop fine 1tsp salt 1/4 tsp black peper Chicken marinade. Marinate for at least 20 min and then brush on as you grill. I found the marinade on allrecipes.com. Tried it today and it was really good.
  3. I think many people share your opinion of closer usage. Tying your best reliever to the 9th inning is a terrible waste. However, Yost isn't alone in that mismanagement. Almost every single team in MLB picks a guy as closer and sticks with him.
  4. Maybe he switched hats with Bill Castro.
  5. Hardball Times Article on batting the pitcher 8th. I am off to play some videogames and will read it manana. http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/the-benefit-of-batting-eighth/
  6. I don't think Livan is a high effort guy. Just a guess. Unless I am mistaken his fastball tops out in the mid 80's. Isn't it thought that after 110 pitches a pitcher's risk of injury starts to rise exponentially?
  7. I don't know why a pitcher should be throwing 100+ pitches in April. I think Yost said something about an extra day rest.
  8. I think it might have also fallen under the "this should go into the Ned Yost thread" line of thought. I would guess it was locked because of politics, but almost anything Yost should go in the Yost catch all thread. Much of that has to do with last year, and maybe the year before, when almost every discussion ended up being pretty much a shouting match between pro and anti Yost parties. I am sorry to say that I was a participant in many of those discussions. It made Brewerfan a very uncomfortable place for posters. It also made much of the Major League forums unreadable unless the Brewers were on a multigame winning streak. Of course what do I know, I am just a guest in Brian's house.(Brewerfan.net founder and site director)
  9. Thank you, I don't know tha area well and my wife hasn't lived in Milwaukee for 7+ years.
  10. I think the fact that he gave it a go even though it was sore should point to him not being as much of a wuss as some like to think.
  11. The difference this year is we have many guys who can go multiple innings in a close game instead of one(Villanueva) plus a bunch of one inning guys. Should help our pen over the course of the year.
  12. Lots of guys could easily be a 15 win guy on a good team.
  13. How is the parking for Zim's? I need a place in Milwaukee to go to in July to watch a game. On a Wednesday though.
  14. How much are the Yankees and Mets new stadiums going to affect our luxury tax checks in the years to come?
  15. Not really. It is one of many things that get pinned on Yost. Much like everytime a runner gets caught stealing. Ned's fault, shouldn't have sent the guy. Not by all.
  16. I was encouraged when it was mentioned that he had a sore tricept going into the game. Maybe that will slow down some of the jump-off-the-cliffyness, but I doubt it.
  17. "He hit that one on the nose, I mean shin." Nice one Bill.
  18. I see Randy Marsh among the umpires tonight. I think we are going to see at least one night with a bad strike zone this weekend.
  19. Isn't princesspea(sp?) a Yankees fan? She should chime in on Torre.
  20. I thought when Wise started to have struggles last year his change and fastball got closer together speed wise. Just as an example. Last year I think we saw Sheets trying all kinds of things since his curve wasn't working for him. He was still pretty effective, but he wasn't at his best by any means.
  21. I do agree that Girardi is clearly worse than Yost. The Brewers' equivalent of his season in Florida would be adding Weeks, Hardy, Gallardo and Parra to a bad team with Fielder on it. The players called up in his year managing Florida was ridiculous and in my opinion had more to do with their record than anything he did. Add to that 3 wrecked young arms the next year and he had a negative overall impact. Yost is by no means perfect, but I think looking as closley at other managers as we do Yost would reveal they are all questionable and most teams would be better off using a stack of spreadsheets to make in game decisions.
  22. I am still waiting for somebody to point out a manager who is clearly better than Yost.
  23. If they are going to keep walking Prince, I think they should bat him leadoff. Even though he would be a base clogger.

  25. So how useful is using data from 6+ seasons ago in predicting future performance? I would think by the time you get enough data to make splits against LH pitching useful without a huge regression, a hitter could be on a totally different level skill wise. Basically not be the same hitter, worse/better, in a sense.
