  1. I wouldn't mind the WC as it usually means you are the 2nd best team in the league, next to the team that wins your division. A WC team has made the WS every year except once since the WC has been introduced.

  3. I think I read somewhere that anybody who hits over .200 BA should never sac bunt which eliminates almost everybody except most pitchers and Nefi Perez. Also The Book says you should ocassionally sac bunt just to keep the defense honest. If I am reading the chart right, a sac bunt increases your chances of scoring one run from 17.6% to 23%, but at the same time decreases your overall chances of scoring runs from 43.7% to 40.6%. Interesting to note that an opposing manager can decrease the chance one run scores from 23% to 16.1% by walking the hitter after the sac bunt, but that also increases the cahances runs score by 2%.
  4. Yeah 2 wins is almost nothing as we know from last year(walk off by A-Ram being the difference last year), specially given we play head to head so much

  7. Yes it does, but it is 8 days until tickets go on sale and still nothing.
  8. I don't think we could get anything of value for him for this or even next year. I would prefer to keep him, but I would prefer to trade him and get something rather than loose him through waivers. Right now I would put him as the 13th pitcher when only 12 are needed. It comes down to either he or Mota right now for the last spot, in my opinion anyway. Mota has shown more success in the past as a relief pitcher and would be my choice to make the roster. Vargas has one more year of arbitration before free agency, so one more "cheap" year.
  9. It was brought up in the "Baseballs Secret Formula" thread and I was wondering what other people thought of sac bunting. The studies I have read show that it decreases your run expectancy, but I have also read that it improves your chances of scoring one run. What do you think about sac bunting?
  10. Also reported at JSOnline. Not surprising really. http://blogs.jsonline.com/brewers/archive/2008/02/15/brewers-hardy-agree-on-one-year-deal.aspx
  11. We know the bobble days, but I was wondering about the rest of the promotional schedule. When are the dollar dog days?
  12. If I am mistaken let me know, but I thought Vargas already has a contract with us so we are on the hook for his salary unless we trade him or somebody picks him up off of waivers if we try sending him to AAA. I have no problem with Vargas in AAA as an extra arm, but I am not sure he would clear waivers. The reason I want Vargas traded over Bush or Villanueva is that those two should be able to make solid contributions this year and years to come above what we would probably get in return. We control both of those guys for a while yet.
  13. I take exception to this statement. A season ticket holder is no more than somebody who has enough time and money to afford season tickets. I am not saying that season ticket holders are not loyal fans, but that being a season ticket holder does not imply any kind of loyalty. There are many fans who are loyal and will never have season tickets because they have neither the time or means.
  14. Braun, Weeks and Hardy would have all benifited with another year in AAA. Hardy didn't even play a full year before coming up to the big leagues. Worst case scenario for Hardy should have been staying in AAA for a month or two like Braun did.
  15. I always thought of Sheets as one of the few guys who really gets by on 2 pitches. Before last year he only used his CU 3-4 times max a game most of the time. I remember him saying that he didn't throw his CU much because , why should he if his curve is working.
  16. I will believe they are actually going to arbitration when the hearing starts. I think they almost went to arby with Ohka a couple years back, but they settled a few hours before the hearing. I think they also said that time talks had ended.
  17. I'd rather pull my toenails out with a pliars. I am sure there are people you can hire to do that for you.
  18. Well you learn something new every day I guess. Some days you learn something useful. Some days you learn what partially digested Honey Nut Cheerios look like.
  19. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I kind of figured that. I was just messing with ya. You probably should use more tham just initials until, hopefully soon, Claudio is traded.
  20. I am not sure how much trade value that Claudio Vargas has.
  21. All I am saying is that a suspension wouldn't have ended his career and that was not the reason the suspensions was dropped. It seems that you agree that it wouldn't have ended his career either.
  22. Just to get things straight. A 3 game suspension ends his career because... 1. Seth McClung has no place on any roster in MLB. Even as the last pitcher on the roster who can easily go 3 days without pitching. 2. Every pitcher who gets called up must be able to contribute immediately or he is of no use, even if there was a starter who had his turn skipped in the rotation giving that team an extra pitcher for a few days 3. McClung isn't even good enough to be AAA filler for the year and earn a September call up when he could serve his suspension.
  23. I would be very surprised if Gwynn gets more than a handful of starts in CF. I think that Kapler, unless he completly sucks which is a posibility, will be the RH portion of a platoon with Gross in CF until Cameron is done with his suspension. I am not sure what will happen to Gwynn. I am not so sure if he is in their plans this year. They seem to be holding onto him as a 5th OF for the future right now. I know they like him quite a bit.
  24. Hard, but not impossible. If like you said he is fringe talent the he would be the last pitcher on the roster. How often does that last pitcher actually pitch? Not much so 3 days without pitching isn't a big deal. Is it really so hard to accept that MLB's opinion of events differs from yours that there has to be a whole "the suspension would have ended his career" conspiracy behind it?
