  1. The Cubs spent 300 Million during the off-season, and there still having trouble winning. The Cubs are one win away from having as many wins this year as they did all of last year though.
  2. That is pretty close to what I said at the start of the year except I had the Brewers at 85 wins.
  3. Brewers finish 97-65. Ousted by sweep in the first round of the playoffs.
  4. High heels and pantyhose maybe.
  5. Is he only red hot right now or does red hot mean hotter than white hot? I would think being white hot is hotter so he is only red hot right now, but he is warming up to be white hot in a week or two.
  6. The only thing I usually buy at the ballpark is ice cream or dipping dots since they are not really items you can carry in. Also beer now and then, but I have a hard time paying 6-pack prices for one beer.
  7. I know they are subjective and flawed, but replacing Braun with a league average fielder at 3B drops 12 errors off of our total as a team. Doing that changes the total errors from a total of 91 to a total of 79 going from 4th most to 7th most and closer to the middle of the pack in the NL.
  8. That $30 is a ticket to another game to me. As far as popcorn at the movies, I figure that for the price of taking your significant other to a movie you can buy the DVD when it comes out. I know, I know, it is all about the experience. I guess I am just getting old and cynical.
  9. I would have to say they have good pitching while ours has been a big dissapointment. I think people who are terming Weeks as a below average defender are being a little over critical. I think a lot of that is carry over from early last year and his first year with Milwaukee when he actually was a poor defender. I guess a label is just really hard to shake. Also, while I agree that Braun is a below average defender I think he more than makes up for it with his bat. EDIT: From what I have seen with Braun, he gets to balls really well and is a good fielder, but he has a hard time making throws to first.
  10. I would say at $4 I will settle for unfried, carry-in cheese curds. I don't buy food or drinks at the park. I carry everything in using the free ball and glove cooler I got a few years back.
  11. Holy Crap. I didn't think it was that long before we could get another EA MLB game again. That is just crazy. I have to say I am through with 2K baseball games. They really suck. I don't know if I can wait that long for another good MLB game. I wish MLB had an out clause if the game maker continued to make sucky games. I guess our only hope is that EA buys 2K Sports in the next few years.
  12. Because it is a nice way to say he is an average starter who will make all of his starts and not get hurt.
  13. So basically, just looking at his innings, he is Vargas with a bigger contract?
  14. You are sidestepping the whole reasoning behind the inning limit. The issue is the increase in innings per year, not just the number of innings. There might be 4 pitchers who blew out their arms for every one of those guys you listed. In that case you are talking about a 80% injury rate. I don't know because I don't have the time or will to look up every pitcher through all the years of baseball. Even if we were talking about a 33% injury rate that would be to high. Lets say we decided to have Villy, Parra and Gallardo all pitch a full year. At a 33% injury rate we would lose one of them to a major arm injury. We don't have the resources to replace one of those guys. I know there isn't much to back up my arguement here except Doug Melvin's unpublished research that he refers to, but I would rather be safe than sorry.
  15. Actually 200 innings is kind of a misleading number. If you look over Suppan's career he averages around 6.5 innings per start during the years when he pitched 200 innings. To reach 200 innings all you have to average over 32 starts is 6.25 innings per start. The harder part would be making 32 starts during the year. Suppan looks to be no more than a 6.5 inning pitcher even in his best years. Since 2004 he hasn't made it to 200 innings or averaged more than 6 innings per start.
  16. I have to agree Hall looks like a guess hitter. When he is off he looks really bad. He still strikes out a lot and whenever he is up in a big situation he looks like he wants to be the hero and puts more pressure on himself, many times leading to strikeouts.
  17. Halo 3 will needs to be more than just Halo to win. Right now Bioshock, COD4, Assassin's Creed, and Mass Effect look to have better shots. I am not saying that those games won't be better, just that Halo would have to step WAY wrong not to win game of the year. If it is even close, Halo will win. "Just Halo" has been good enough to presell 2 million copies so far. "Just Halo" is like saying "Just GTA". You might as well call Xbox Live and Xbox 360 Halo Live and Halo360. I am actully looking forward more to Mass Effect. I was hoping Blue Dragon would turn out good, but it got bad reviews. I might still get it though.
  18. I think any game will have a tough time winning game of the year over Halo 3.

    Psych

Yeah I agree the plots are pretty weak and the characters are somewhat underdeveloped other than Shawn and Gus. Shawn seems to be making less of an effort to look like a psychic this year. I am kind of on the fence with Burn Notice so far. I am glad we haven't seen the brother for a couple episodes now. I didn't like him.
  20. I never saw Gross as a liability in the field. He has a good arm and covers a lot of ground.
  21. I believe that children are the future.
  22. I gotta say that I am not a big fan of sitting in the student section. I enjoy watching it though.
  23. 4 of Suppan's 6+ inning starts were in April. Doesn't look to pronising. 200 innings spread out over 34 starts is under 6 innings a start.
  24. For the season... Innings Suppan Bush Sheets Vargas Capuano Gallardo >6 7 (30%) 7 (35%) 8(42%) 2(10%) 5(26%) 4(25%) 6 7(30%) 6(30%) 7(37%) 8(40%) 3(16%) 2(25%) <6 9(40%) 7(35%) 4(21%) 10(50%) 11(58%) 2(25%) Total Starts 23 20 19 20 19 8 Given the relativley low number of starts for Gallardo his percentages will fluctuate greatly. I didn't have time to look at 7+ innings starts which is where, in my opinion you seperate solid starters and aces. We have 3 starters who don't finish the 6th at least 40% of the time. Given that I guess it isn't surprising our bulpen is worn out. I guess I don't know how this compares to other pitching staffs. I would be kind of interested to know. EDIT: I had everything all seperated and nice so it was readable. Somehow my spaces disappeared and now it is just a big mess of numbers. (note: I pasted sgtcluels' cool work into this post. Thanks sarge! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif --1992)
  25. Its like 2004 all over, just with a bigger crash At least Sheets didn't get hurt in 2004.
