1. I think the wave falls under getting out of your seat during the top or bottom half of an inning. You just shouldn't do it unless, like somebody else said, you are up by 10 runs. We had some old lady standing in the isle taking pictures of her grandchildren for half an inning last Sunday. I think it has alot to do with increased attendance. EDIT: What I do when the wave happens at games is to "explain" to my son how the wave is more of a football thing and shouldn't be done at baseball games because it is rude to block another person's view of the field. I would also say that it really bothers me when our own players get booed. Or other players because it makes us look like bad sports.
2. Did I hear right? Costas refered to the HR record when Bonds gets it as inauthentic.
3. If it is the lady I saw she wrote this article a couple months ago. Kobe Better than Jordan
4. He isn't the same hitter he was 3 years ago. He has only 64 hits, but has walked 95 times. 30 of his 95 walks were IBB. Almost 20% of the time he has gotten on was a free pass. I think it is appropriate to take that into consideration. He has stats comparable to Chipper Jones, Maglio Ordonez, and Miguel Cabrera. I don't think Yost drastically changed his approach with those guys so I don't see how Bonds should be any different. I personally think Bonds is pitched to more on past years performance more than how he is playing now.
5. 87 more days until Halo 3 comes out. Maybe this should have gone in the "What's bugging you thread" but, it seems like just yesterday I was thinking, "2 years until Halo 3 comes out."
6. They also have a Halo themed 360 coming out. I agree with Russ, they will have a price drop or some other sort of internal redesign this holiday season. Not until well after the release of Halo 3 though. I would say at least 4-6 weeks after Halo 3 comes out.
7. I think the whole thing comes down to what games you want to play. I don't know of many games coming out as exclusives for the PS3 this year I think maybe a new God of War game(maybe). FF XIII is not coming out till next year, nor is Metal Gear Solid 4. If you plan on buying one system now and the other one next year I would say to go with the 360 first. They have Halo 3, Mass Effect and Blue Dragon coming out in the next couple months. They also have Gears of War out now. If you are only getting one or the other you will have to look into exclusive titles and decide what games you want to play. As for the BluRay player, I consider that a $100 price gouge for something I have no real interest in. Also consider it them charging me $100 for a technology they are trying to push. DVD is just fine with me until the movie industry picks a standard format and HDTV becomes the standard, as opposed to SDTV. I know most of this is making me come across as anti PS3. I guess I am a little, but the 360 just has more games out that appeal to me right now. Like I stated, it really all comes down to which games you want to play. EDIT: I guess you could also throw the Wii into your decision, but the title of the thread of was 360 vs. PS3.
8. I consider this to be an advanttage for the Brewers since they have taken it to us in Miller Park this year. If you looked back at the schedule the last few years you would see that either last year or the year before the schedule gave the Brewers more home games in the Cubs & Brewers schedule.
9. Save up for the 360. Don't buy an original xbox. 360 can play most of the xbox games. 360 has more exclusive titles out and more coming by the end of the year. That is the only reason to get it over PS3 right now. Halo 3, Mass Effect, Blue Dragon to name a few. Plus all the sports games. Not really anything is a PS3 exclusive this year. EDIT: Don't buy the core system. I would actually recommend the Elite system since it has a HDMI output and larger hard drive. 20 GB doesn't go very far when you start downloading stuff off of Xbox Live.
10. That is why I think YoYo gets inserted into the rotation as the 5th starter and not just straight up for Sheets. YoYo may be our best starter right now, but if you look at how many runs our offense has been scoring the past few weeks it is more of a problem than our pitching has been. If the offense puts up a few more runs we don't need YoYo to make the playoffs. Inserting him as the 5th starter and skipping his turns keeps him sharper than just shutting him down for September would.
11. Hardy - SS Weeks - 2B Hart - CF Sheets - SP Villanueva - SP Strong up the middle and starting pitching. I believe Weeks can play much better than he currently is. Hart can play CF at a pretty good level and to have his combination of speed and power there would be great.
12. I saw him as batting .280 with 18 HRs so I guess he is about where I expected. I hope he doesn't go the rest of the year without hitting any more homers. I doubt that will be the case. I guess I see this more as regressing towards where he was expected more than anything else. He is just in one of the bad streaks that even things out.
13. But they haven't been playing good.
14. Just checked and you are right. Even though they were not specifically mentioned in the collective bargaining agreement, they would fall under the same group as all illegal drugs. If it was illegal in the US you couldn't use it in baseball. According to Wikipedia(I know not really a good source, but I don't have time to do a better check) anabolic steroids became illegal in the US in 1990. Up until then they were legal in the US and thus legal in baseball. EDIT: By the way I fall under the "cheaters area always ahead of the testers so everybody is suspect" group.
15. Hello to the Cubs fans. I have to give credit to all the posters who admitted they hate Braun because he is good and not on their team. At least they are honest. EDIT: For the record I am just to lazy to figure out and make a sig pic.
16. Oh no, they found us out. Somebody posted that we were making fun of them on our board.
17. I think they hate the fact we have young talent that will be around beating the crap out of them for the next 3-6 years.
18. Doug Melvin would agree with you. He has stated he wouldn't mind getting a lefty for the pen, but he would prefer to get somebody who could go a whole inning or more.
19. Keep these 4 names in mind as well. Josh Johnson, Ricky Nolasco, Scott Olsen and Anibal Sanchez. Johnson - on 15 day DL with right forearm strain Nolasco - on 60 day DL with right elbow inflammation Olsen - Actually pitching Sanchez - out for season with torn labrum Edit:Below is the innings pitched and year for each of these pitchers. In 2005 Olsen went on the DL and was out for the remainder of the season with elbow discomfort. in 2006 Johnson was shut down for the season on Sept 12. 2004 2005 2006 Johnson 114 152 157 Nolasco 147 161 140 Olsen 136 100 186 Nolasco 147 161 140 (edit: prettified chart http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif --1992casey)
20. So you are saying they have to kick out the left field bleachers for every game. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I agree with you by the way. I seem to remember how some players used to say the fans at Miller Park were knowegable. Things are getting worse. I guess that is the price of success.
21. *sigh* My bad. I guess I should go find the "What are you doing to make the Brewers lose" thread and post there.
22. I'm with doug here. Will Sheets miss his next start? If I had to guess I would say Villy. YoYo was at 100 innings already this year and they are trying to limit him to 170 this year. If they are planning on using him later in the year they would be better to leave him in the bulpen except in the direst of needs.
23. Just waiting for "The Season is Over" thread to start. Not to mention the "Ben Sheets Being Injured Makes Us Better" thread.
24. I could do without the boo birds.
25. I don't see how those would even be necessary. They let you bring in stuff for games and they don't really check that closely. You could just as easily bring in your alcohol mixed half and half in a plastic bottle with soda and dilute it with more soda at the game.
