  1. well said. the angst/vitriol around here/on twitter about how our terrible bullpen is hilarious to me. sure it's frustrating, but come on now. Stearns is building this team the right way and that doesn't involve making terrible trades for relievers.
  2. Wish he wouldn't be batting in front of the pitcher, but oh well. Hopefully we get this game instead of Cards/Reds in the Chicago area tonight on MLBN!
  3. oh come on, we don't live in the middle ages anymore, let the man take a couple of days off to be with his family.
  4. No way, I say get the #33! If nothing else it'll bring you instant street cred! I'm really, really tempted to make the hour drive north tonight to see him.
  5. If Knebel and Barnes aren't available Craig is pretty much screwed because everyone else in the pen kind of sucks.
  6. If you get offered Robles for Knebel you immediately accept it and figure out the logjam later. Knebel is great, but if someone blows away Stearns he should deal him, relievers are too volatile to hold.
  7. Is it just me or are our pitchers incapable of getting a bunt down???
  8. The Brewers should not get into a bidding war for top relievers if last year is any indication.
  9. Kodi literally just turned 21, there is no point to giving up on him as a starter as long as he shows progress, which it sounds like he is.
  10. Geeze some of you guys really hate Braun eh? 33 isn't exactly young in athletics and he admitted he came back too early. Hopefully they just take their time with this and let him get back to 100%.
  11. From Haudricourt: #Brewers definitely think Cubs postponed game yesterday for reason other than weather. Comments coming from GM David Stearns. Definitely think it was to rest their pen. Laughable.
  12. If anything, I'd like to see us bring up some prospects to pitch out of the pen instead of making trades.
  13. Attanasio meddling is my biggest fear. He's said all the right things about the rebuild so far but you know if we're close in July he's going to get trigger happy.
  14. The Brewers are in the bottom half/very bottom of a lot of pitching and defense categories in the NL and are basically being carried by our offense. That's not a recipe for success. Now if Guerra/Espino/prospects can bring some stability to the rotation, it might be a different story, I just don't see it.
  15. The fact of the matter is our pitching is still overall not good enough for us to sustain this run and the FO needs to keep their eye on the big picture. If they get a good offer for Garza, Stearns should take it. Chances are we'll hit the skids before the trade deadline and this will all be moot, but if Garza can get us a good asset, we should take it before he turns back into a pumpkin. fangraphs still gives us less than a 10% chance of making the post season FWIW.
  16. I would be furious if Stearns made some of these suggested trades for Quintana. We're not in the position to be blowing up our farm system on one guy.
  17. I still think they flip Garza and, if the return is good, Guerra. This team has been fun as hell to watch, but the offense is covering up a whole lotta warts on the pitching side. Deal Garza and Guerra, put Wily in the pen, bring up Lopez and Espino and let the cards fall where they may.
  18. This team could really be something if the pitching wasn't a dumpster fire. This offense is legit.
  19. I try to watch a few innings every night after I put my daughter to bed, but it's rare I have an opportunity to watch an entire game unless I'm there in person.
  20. ugh, this is what happens when you are constantly behind in the count because you can't throw strikes!
  21. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/eric-thames-and-the-transformative-power-of-boredom/ Another great article on Thames and his film study and technique.
  22. He's been pretty terrible for a couple of years now, but if the brain trust thinks he could be successful with a change of scenery, I'd be interested for sure. I wouldn't give up anything super valuable though.
  23. I don't think Hader is particularly close to a call up, he hasn't exactly been lighting the world on fire in AAA.
  24. Embarrassment really doesn't matter this year, if Garza is producing he will and should be traded.
