  1. truly an awesome game. I too was surprised at how few Cubs fans were around, although they were definitely there. People seemed to be just as pumped up after this as they were after game 3 last year. High fives and 'go Brewers' all over the place. Such a fun atmosphere, especially in the late innings and post game.
  2. Hawing - the only highlites i've been able to find so far are on ESPN.com's page. They're not that great, but you do get to see Yo's homer. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=290408126
  3. haha, the more things change, the more they stay the same. didn't Corey say he was going to work on his patience this off season?
  4. last year I went with my Robin Yount jersey and blue/yellow ball and glove hat and shaved my beard into a mustache. i'll be doing the same this year. I figure we went to the playoffs last year, so I might as well try to do everything exactly the same and see if we can't make it back to back.
  5. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/42331882.html Tom H. seems to think that something is up with TGJ. I don't care if we traded him for nothing or if he's cleared waivers to AAA, I just want him as far away from Milwaukee as possible this year.
  6. TGJ is not doing anything to convince me he should make the team. Two mis-played balls out there this inning.
  7. we were staying at the Sir Francis Drake and took the BART in. it was incredibly easy. that park is absolutely amazing, so i'd definitely recommend getting their early and checking it out. try the garlic fries and be sure to bring a jacket!
  8. Didn't they give him an extension after they traded for him too? Between that and Willis, the Tigers have wasted a TON of money the last couple of years.
  9. I was in the bleachers in 2006 and it was fine. It's opening day and it's the Cubs. Short of getting yourself into a luxury box, I don't think there's going to be any way to avoid the debauchery and commotion that is certain to occur. I go to a ton of Brewers/Cubs games at Wrigley each year, but this will be my first time seeing the match up in Milwaukee. I'm honestly terrified of what the crowd is going to be like, haha.
  10. I've done the aircraft carrier tour and the zoo and would recommend both. my girlfriend's mom lives out there so we're conveniently scheduling a trip out there this summer when the Crew is in town which i'm pretty stoked about. it's a cool city.
  11. I'm definitely an advocate of trying Rickie out in CF, but I was utterly confused as to his comments about Braun. I don't know if he'll ever win a gold glove in LF, but he's a good enough athlete that he should be at least above average out there.
  12. the 2 DR-Netherland games were absolutely incredible. I'm sure it will go largely un-noticed, but it really is a historic upset and to do it twice in 4 days!
  13. I got Power Pros on the recommendation of someone here and for the most part, I enjoy it. From the reviews i've read, it rates higher than the regular 2k series. The gameplay on it is much different than Wii Sports. I think yuo can use the wiimote in the same way for HR derby and maybe for exhibition (I haven't done either), but for the most part, you control it like you control standard baseball games. Pitch and hit with a push of a button. The graphics are cheesy, but they do a good job with replicating the features and mannerisms of each player it seems like.
  14. If we trade Hall, who would play 3rd base for us? I want nothing of a Lamb/McGehee platoon.
  15. I've definitely heard mixed reviews on this for the wii so far, mainly relating to the fact that they didn't really upgrade from 2K8 (which I also heard wasn't that great). I've got Power Pros '08, so I've got a baseball game to play, but I was really hoping that this would get great reviews so I'd be compelled to buy it. Sounds like I might as well save the $50 and wait for 2K10 at this point.
  16. ^^^ Ahh yes, I was totally thinking of MLB 2K9, which I believe also comes out today.
  17. if anyone picks it up for the wii and wouldn't mind posting their thoughts, that'd be great. Not sure if I want to set aside the $50 for this or just make due with Power Pros for the time being.
  18. I own Power Pros 2008. If you can get over the graphics, the gameplay is really quite good. Plus it's incredibly involved, almost to the point where some of the different gameplay options are confusing. I was going to buy 2K9 tomorrow, but i'm enjoying Power Pros so much and have so much that I still need to even try in the game that i'm going to hold off for quite some time. Plus, i'm a little leery of how the rosters on the teams will shake out. I don't know if you can actually save updated rosters onto the wii or if you can only access them online. I'm of course assuming that they'll have updated rosters considering that so many prime players were probably unsigned when the game was being produced.
  19. for such an involved game, I wish the manual had more details. Like on an exhibition game I can put guys in the bullpen to warm up, but when I'm doing a season, I don't have that option? The gameplay on it is pretty good though and I'm not minding the graphics at all either, which was my main concern.
  20. are people forgetting that we open the year in San Fran? Yo will still pitch against the Cubs I would think. Yo won't be starting the first game of the season, but he probably wasn't going to be starting the home opener anyway.
  21. Does anyone have any tips on this game? I'm really struggling with Success mode. I can't seem to increase my vitality and I got fired at the end of my first year even though I did pretty well when I got to play. Somehow, I think I even turned down a promotion to AAA too, haha. I've heard good things about the game from people on the board here, but i'm kind of lost and the instruction manual really isn't giving me any kind of guidance on this. Thanks!
  22. I wonder if they'll be selling those Miller Park South t-shirts anywhere? I must have one! Not sure how much traffic this will generate for a Thursday afternoon game, but at least they're trying.
  23. I'm hoping Gwynn is DFA'd to make room for Looper. I like the pick up. I'd agree that it's a little curious to get rid of Pena, but this Green kid sounds intriguing and should provide for some solid depth, if nothing else.
  24. that ^^^ would have been an all-time terrible outfield D. Not what this team needs considering it's pitching staff pitches to contact for the most part.
  25. Last year they had Carlos V start the home opener after Sheets pitched game 1 in Chicago, so i'd expect them to let Yo go game 1 in SF. Hopefully that means Looper, not Suppan will now be starting the home opener this year.
