http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/baseball/mlb/05/20/derosa.indians/index.html Derosa is officially on the block. We don't have the pitching Cleveland wants, but I'd be overjoyed if we got him. If we take back all of his salary, I can't imagine that we'd have to give up grade A prospects. Hopefully the fact that Melvin/Shapiro connected so well on the CC deal can pay some dividends here.

Molitor leaving combined with the strike the following year ruined baseball for a good number of years for me.

another efficient inning for The Hoff! fantastic.

I would NOT be happy if I had seats over in that area.

that was looking a little hairy there in the 7th, but SWEEP! I wonder how the Cards feel about us completely owning them in new Busch. Miller Park Southwest?

so this game looks to be getting a little sloppy here.

DeRosa is in the final year of his contract. If we could get him on the cheap, i'd love to bring him in. It wouldn't solve our lead off problem, but he's very versatile.

this really, really stinks. he finally looked like he was putting it all together and now it's all gone. the silver lining (if there is one) is that i'm sure a lot of us, myself included, thought the season was over when Yo got hurt last year and we ended up being fine. hopefully the rest of the team steps up now.

talk about a gigantic momentum swing the other way. hopefully we can hold on here.

Ricky Nolasco has absolutely sucked for my fantasy teams this year so i'm glad he's at least extending that courtesy to the Brewers. hopefully Looper doesn't out-suck him tonight. I'm also absolutely LOVING the 2 out offense!

in the jsonline blog, Melvin said that there was no trade. doesn't necessarily mean that it's true, but i'd imagine that this is the end for Nelson.
  12. MillerParkSouth
haha, well here we go Rickie! let's see if they can't cash in this time.

I really hope we don't get into the habit of stranding runners at 3rd base after they get there with nobody out. That already bit us hard on Sunday, hopefully it doesn't bite us tonight.

I would give Wes a standing O if I was going to any of these games. I'm sure the casual fans who didn't know why they were booing him in the first place have already forgotten about that home run though, which is unfortunate. Hopefully he gets the good reception that he deserves.

picked up a Branyan t-shirt jersey in the 400 level fan zone for $5 yesterday. I will wear it with pride. I miss that left handed pop off the bench, even though I think Nelson will eventually get it going.

they must have done the photoshoot when they were in town in April. I happen to think this is the greatest album cover of all time, haha. http://wilcoworld.net/news/images/wilco_album_390.jpg

I really don't like Stetter's propensity to completely lose the strike zone for batters at a time. Good thing we got those runs in the top half of the inning.
  18. MillerParkSouth
do you guys think Hoffman will be available tonight? Hopefully we can bust this open and avoid using him since he's pitched the last 2 days.

I'm really wondering if the 2009 Cubs = 2008 Tigers? I really think that Hendry's off season moves this year are rearing their ugly heads now. I mean, a $140mm payroll club had to play it's backup C at 3B in extra innings last night!

3 vs AZI (3-0) 2 @ PIT (2-0) 2 @ CIN (2-0) 3 vs CHI (2-1) 3 vs FLA (3-0) 3 @ STL (2-1) 3 @ HOU (2-1) 3 @ MIN (1-2) 3 vs STL (2-1) 3 vs CIN (3-0) 22-6 Cam, Prince, Braun continue to hit.. Rickie and Corey keep climbing the latter towards greatness and Hardy finds something to get him focused and relaxed again.

Just got back from Wrigley and the Cubs bullpen was in fine form tonight! I absolutely love catching the Marlins in town.

JJ might need to sit out this weekend if we're facing some righties. Give Counsell some starts and let JJ get his head on straight. this 9th inning is going to be absolutely terrifying, no matter who is out there. Although it's slightly more frightening with Villy.
  23. MillerParkSouth
why did they pinch hit with Nelson against a lefty anyways?
  24. MillerParkSouth
let's not embarass ourselves out there tonight (Suppan). I'm 1-0 on the season, let's make it 2-0.
  25. MillerParkSouth
good hustle Billy! If you're going to do that you better be safe!
