  1. i've been saying all off season that this is a no brainer. doesn't cost a draft pick, should come cheap-ish, experienced. i will cry tears of joy if we can get this done.
  2. I will wholeheartedly agree that MVP 05 is an incredible game. It's really too bad that they don't make those games anymore. The reviews i've read on 2K8 aren't very good either, but the reviewers expressed optimism that the game developers would listen to the fans and remedy some of their complaints similar to what they apparently did with Madden. Hopefully that will be the case. Maybe i'll have to see if I can pick up Power Pros somewhere for cheap-ish.
  3. really? that's interesting. I haven't played it, but I was really turned off by the 'Lego' type graphics. Maybe i'll have to take a closer look. What was so bad about the last 2 MLB 2K games? I'm kind of planning on buying 2K9 when it comes out, but maybe i'll have to hold off. As far as the Madden game goes, you definitely have to move the remote/nunchuck to play. throwing motion, tackling, kicking is all done with a flick of the wrist on the wii remote.
  4. yeah, I've heard Mario Kart is awesome, but impossible to find. I was a huge fan of that for N64, so i'll have to find that sometime. Think i'm going to pick up Madden and Mario Galaxy, which I hear is amazing, tonight. I also 'named' my wii Gabe Gross. Thought some people around here might appreciate that, haha.
  5. so my girlfriend got me a wii, this is the first new gaming system i've had since Genesis, so i'm pretty clueless as to what good games are. I was thinking about getting Madden 09 and MLB 2K8 or whatever. anybody play these? what's this all-play thing I see on just about all of the sports games too? any other good game/accessory suggestions would be very helpful. edit: title making this the official all for one thread for wii.
  6. I would hope that Doug sits Yo down and tells him under no circumstance can he play in the WBC. We've got so much riding on that right arm of his this year, can't take the risk.
  7. I can't believe people are railing Melvin on these moves. It's not like he's sigining these guys to be our everyday right fielder or something. These guys are worth taking a flier on and will be a 4th OF at best, AAA fodder at worst. I remember thinking last year that I'd be irate if Kapler made the team out of ST, since that would clearly be a sign that we're not going anywhere, and he turned out to be a great signing. These are pretty much the same kind of low risk moves.
  8. Eric Hinske is the kind of 'meh' signing that Doug would seem to make at this stage in the game. Not opposed to it, but it's nothing exciting. I don't think anyone who he'd sign right now would be anymore than a back-up, so i'm not expecting big things. That said, Dunn would be sweet.

  12. people were saying Fielder or Hardy wouldn't even get Cain, I HIGHLY doubt we'll get a pitcher of his stature for Dick Weeks.
  13. I'll join in the rejoicing. I still think he'll end up getting moved at some point, but if we have to play '09 with him then I won't be disappointed in the least. Now we just have to hope that the injury bug bites a contending, prospect rich team in ST and hope we can strike a deal.
  14. I would LOVE to get Fuentes, but I don't think Cam needs to be moved until Fuentes is a Brewer. I'd hate to trade Cam for fifty cents on the dollar and then have Fuentes sign with Anaheim, like he's said he wants to. I just have a hard time believing that the best we could do for a top 5 CF would be a 4th OF and Key freaking Igawa. The Yanks need to make the trade more than the Brewers do.
  15. apparently the Braves are very close to bringing back Rafael Furcal. I wonder if this will re-open the Peavy to Braves talks since Escobar is now expendable.
  16. how do you know they're only making 40,000 of them? I will be irate if I can't get one of these.
  17. I would not be disappointed if this is true. The Yankees need Cam more than we do. Worst case scenario we play the year with a gold glove CF. Fine with me.
  18. I absolutely can't wait to get back to Milwaukee for the holidays and pick this up. I'm rewatching the last half inning of the ALCS clincher on Harvey's Wallbanger's right now just for kicks and it is glorious.
  19. I really have no use for Melky Cabrera, but I'm all for trading Cameron if we can bring back some useful pitching in the deal. That said, if Kei Igawa ends up a Milwaukee Brewer I might lose it. Unless the Yanks are paying ALL of his salary, he has no place here.
  20. interesting. for the sake of our draft pick compensation, I really hope they resign Pettite or go with Lowe.
  21. I really kind of think the Yankees are going to try to sign every FA available. I think they'll still be in the mix on Lowe and Sheets (unless Pettite comes back). Wouldn't surprise me in the least to see them go after Tex too.
  22. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/36067319.html and yet they want the Brewers to pay some of Cam's salary still? Tom H brings up a point, which I find to be just a little bit ludicrous.
  23. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3765675 They must be upset with the off season moves too. I wonder what kind of other sponsorship, if any, we'll lose this year given the economy. We need all the revenue we can get, although like the article says, i'm sure we'll have no problems finding another company to sponsor the field haus. EDIT: Title- PF (edited title again - hawing)
  24. I'd take Gabe Gross back in a second. He would have been a fantastic platoon mate for Corey down the stretch last year. Plus he has World Series experience now, which is always a plus.
