  1. i think vargas will surprise next year...trading him now would be a waste of resources...there's no impetus to do it, and theres a very good chance his value is even higher next year...
  2. if sarfate goes back to the minors, it will be balfour/oxspring/spurling or ben hendrickson winning the long man spot... honestly---i think sarfate's probably the best option, so i think he'll make the team...and i'm not just trying to bujtter dennis up..
  3. yeah, vargas + sheets maybe...
  4. i would weep with joy if hart/fielder/weeks/hardy hit those projections... i think this demonstrates why a few of us arent worried about the offense..
  5. anyone listen to punk? I've been going through a "classics"phase (dead boys, pere ubu, johnny thunders, richard hell, etc..) and i need some current bands...actually, new ones...no nofx, bouncing souls, lars frederickson, strike anywhere, lawrence arms...bands i might not have heard of... not really emo, but punk rock.. suggestions por favor!
  6. I don't think this is a good deal... I think hall is suffering from some backlash around here right now, and i think it's because he was so popular over the summer. the truth is that he's a better player than those other guys. He easily has more power than both Baldelli and Ensberg, and while ensberg walks alot and Baldelli hits for a good average, Hall is trending upward, and will likely post a better OBP than both of those guys next year. Obviously, Hall is younger than Ensberg and he hasn't had the injury issues that baldelli has had. On top of that, hall is a brewer for 3 more years---through his prime---and he shouldnt cost more than 20 million in that period. As for Turnbow and Lidge---i could care less. Does it really matter which of these guys we have? Lidge is likely better, but he costs more and there is no guarantee that he'll be better than last year. Trading Villenueva at this moment seems like a short sighted idea. Just because the Brewers have 5 starters under contract ahead of him does not mean he is expendable. Perhaps next offseason, but as it stands now, he is the 6th starter. I think you are overvaluing Ensberg and drastically undervaluing Hall. Baldelli is interesting, but he's quite the risk. If the Brewers are going to contend in the next 3 years (and they should in all three), then Hall needs to be part of the team.
  7. still can't find one! argh!
  8. i thought the sales calls were great...stuff like that really seperates this show from others...i was expecting tommy boy, but the salespeople were really good and competant.. excellent episode..i hope andy gets hit by a car
  9. no way they get linebrink for jenkins...
  10. is that the first time we've seen the word "labrum" here? ugh.
  11. bikeage--- you heard anything by the scientists? I downloaded a track called "frantic romantic" and it was stellar...they're late 70's australian...just wondering..
  12. eh... dickey is depth, but he's been horrible in the majors a few times...and while the knuckle thing is recent, he's in his 30's... i like the guy, and he replaces fernandez exactly, but not too exciting..
  13. if sarfate truly has another option, then i say Chris Spurling is the most likely to make it from that list..
  14. i'm sure jim and any other east coasters will agree with me---the lack of time change is pretty sweet..
  15. nate yoho is more like a player coach than anything else...i wouldnt be surprised to see him hang up the spikes and join the staff at some point during the season..
  16. toby-- i completely forgot about the fact that stewart was with the team forever... in fact, i was distinctly irritated when they didnt add him to the 40 man after 2002.. he...i remember very little.. oh yeah...add dave pember to my list..
  17. i think mike bell will be the 2b in Brevard, with Alcides at SS and holmberg on the bench...i think Ozzie chavez will start in huntsville.. i don't think mike bell can play SS very well...ryan crew makes more sense..
  18. hey! zoccolillo had more MLB ab's than steve moss will.. burn.
  19. paul stewart...he was only here for a short while, but for that time i thought he was the real deal.. oh and peter zoccolillo...same story
  20. charlie fermaint 1, steve moss 0
  21. i'm impressed guys...that list is very good... that's 19/20 for me, and while i think alcides escobar could play in the majors, he's a long way away...so i'd stick one of the guys that was 20-25 in at 20 and bump everyone up one...but the list looks good..
  22. we're not talking about allen simpson here...derrick turnbow was the team's best pitcher in 2005 and an all star last year... baseball is not an exact science...but i think its just too early to give up on turnbow...besides, if he's only used in mopup in april, we'll find out if he's back or not... you guys seem very quick to completely dismiss the guy...
  23. i think maybe he's referring to the alexis rios trade proposed in the first message
  24. i really want to keep turnbow...he was amazing for a season and a half, and i think i'd rather just let him go for nothing (if he blows up again) than trade him for something run of the mill now... if he matches his first half from last year, we could trad ehim for anything we want..
  25. nice conspiracy theory...but the main reason the brewers werent counting on hall was that he absolutely sucked in 2002...2003...and 2004... those things do affect peoples perceptions... hall is ready now...but he was never the prospect any of those other guys were...his only "good" numbers in the minors were in 2001 in high desert---which makes pre humidifier coors look like comerica.. hall's in CF because he can play there better than the other options..
