  1. Its been a long time, and I am not saying he is the better long term NBA prospect, but it seems like DJO is playing at a higher level than Wade did his final year at MU. He gets to the basket like Wade and finishes, but when he gets hot with the outside shot he is unstoppable. Last I checked, he was looking like a mid second rounder though. I hope he can sneak into the first round.
  2. Tapatalk is fine too. Its worth it to me to buy whatever the consensus is. I just suggested Forum Runner because I use it fairly regularly and it has worked well. I know Tapatalk is popular at a few other forums I visit though.
  3. Awesome to see you guys switched to a PHPBB. Any chance to get the site working for a Mobile App like Forum Runner? I know you guys are busy with the migration, but it isn't too hard to setup and I know its something I would use a lot.
  4. I actually think it would be news to hear Gamel doesn't partake.
  5. Its not easy to hit in April/May at Wrigley. And Brenley is an idiot. I live in Chicago too so I have to deal with his babbling on a regular basis.
  6. Nice to see them go inside to Evans a little.
  7. I don't have time to pull up the links right now, but I also seem to remember TH and Witrado taking seemingly innocent comments about Gamel and putting a heavy amount of their own spin on them. I got the impression Mat was a little unmedia savvy when he first came up and may have done something to upset the beat writers.
  8. Yup, people think smart comedy is a Large Hadron Collider reference book ended by boner and fart jokes. It doesn't have to be Futurama referencing the Uncertainty Principle with a line like "you changed the outcome by measuring it" at a race, but something at clever like one of Barney's long running cons of a chick on HIMYM is a happy medium. I still love watching an old Simpson's rerun for a 4th or 5th time and getting a new joke. I saw one a while back where the sea captain said in the background "Call me later Ishmael" as he hung up the phone. Not hilarious, but got me to smile.
  9. I don't have time to get into CBS' procedural dramas, but I do find them to be entertaining at times. Their comedy outside of HIMYM is just horrible though. I just don't get Two and a Half Men or Big Bang Theory. I mean, its just the lowest form of fart jokes or sexual situations, which I normally find hilarious, but its so poorly done it just makes me shake my head. About the only shows I watch these days that aren't on Showtime or HBO are Southland, Archer, IASIP, the League, Wilfred, Justified, and Breaking Bad. Why did NBC cancel Southland? So they could show more Nightrider reruns?
  10. Yea, but they consistently play well after slow starts. I've watched the majority of their games this season, so I think I can realistically say the aberration was actually the half the other poster watched, so your point stands in that regard.
  11. Someone mentioned the Marquette Seton Hall game being a different sport than the Wisconsin PSU game. I only watched the first half of the Marquette game and found it almost unwatchable sure they ran up and down really fast but they were so careless with the ball. Marquette scored 14 more points than the Badgers but turned it over 12 more times! Yes, I mentioned that in the post directly above yours. You should have watched the second half. MU had 5 turnovers, and only 2 in the last 16 minutes when they played fantastic. Sure, its dangerous that they get on those kind of second half runs after they get down, but they've been so good when they do get hot that its gotten them this far. And that is really why its like watching a different sport, not just the first half of sloppiness. BTW, I wasn't the only one who felt that way, so I don't think it was me being an MU alumni.
  12. My roommates and I (they are both WI grads, I'm MU) were switching back and forth between the Badgers and MU game on Monday night. It was like watching two completely separate sports.
  13. Nobody is forcing you to read or post here. I think this is a great discussion as I found out I have a much different opinion than a lot of other posters on this topic.
  14. To say his offensive game has been a disappointment it depends on what you expected from him. You compared his offense to Todd Mayo, I actually find that shortsighted considering Mayo is a year older. I am personally happy with what Blue has done so far. Perhaps some had expectations of him to be looking to go pro at this point, or to be leading this deep team in scoring. He is a nice complementary player with a lot of upside, and we have seen players explode offensively with this team in the past after looking somewhat irrelevant in previous seasons because of other options (Wes Matthews). Again, with a player like Blue I find it short sighted to make definitive statements at this point so please don't tell me how to act.Is Mayo really old for his grade?? He is a freshman this year. That is crazy he is a year older than Blue. Blue was a top 40 recruit by pretty every recruiting agency. I dont think it is crazy to expect him to a have more than one or two quality offensive Big East games. I dont see why someone can say AT THIS POINT Blue has been a disappointment. In two years Blue has averaged like 6 points a game in conference play. For a top 40 recruit I think it is okay to be disappointed. The Wes Matthews comparison does add up at all. Wes scored 12 points a game as a sophomore (he actually averaged less the year after that). He had 20 games of 10 points or more in conference play his first two years. Blue has 1. Matthews showed a TON more offensive game than Blue. Unlike Blue Matthews actually excelled in Big East play Again I dont mean to sound like Blue is a terrible player. He is solid on defense and very good rebounding guard, but he is not an impact player like you would expect of a guy with his hype. He could blow up next year if he works really hard on his shot, but right now he has been underwhelming. Yes, Mayo is old for his grade. Thats the reason he wasn't a much higher ranked recruit out of HS. I agree Blue isn't an impact player at this point. I guess I just saw him as being much more raw than most, so I am not all that surprised by his development so far or lack there of. I also don't like the Gasser comps you get from Badger fans. Really, where I am coming from is that a lot of Badger fans are looking for ways to knock Blue, and there certainly are ways so far in his college career. I just see them as overstated, and thought your argument with Mayo was in that mold, though now I see you just were not aware of the situation. From your second post, its obvious you are giving Blue credit in areas that he should be receiving credit, something a lot of people in the state of WI refuse to do. I'm pretty excited to see what he can accomplish with another off-season and I hope he can develop down the stretch this year into more of an offensive option as fatigue sets in for other players.
  15. Yea, I remember him, he had 16 points and 8 rebounds last night, but thats besides the point. He isn't asked to score on that team. He provides great defense and rebounding. If he was on the Badgers he would most likely have a different role, but so long as he is on the same team as DJO and Crowder he will be asked to continue doing what he has been doing. I find it pretty difficult to make a definitive statement like that at this point unless its based on sour grapes. The over-stating of Vander's defense continues. He is a good defender but Todd Mayo takes the other teams scoring threat down the stretch over Vander. He is a very good rebounder as a guard but is usually brutal offensively in the half court. Last night had a lot of transition opportunities and he comfortable there. To say he isnt asked to score because two guys can score is a little shortsighted. They dont have many scoring threats outside of Crowder and DJO so I am guessing there are opportunities to score. Todd Mayo (a freshman) has 5 10 point plus games in conference and Vander has 1. Dont act like he isnt asked to score. Everyone is asked to score but Blue just has not answered the call up until last night. He will have a very big role next year so we will get a much better look at his game, but there is no need to try to act like his offensive game hasnt been a disappointment so far. 17. Other than last year, he has hit LH pitching better than RH pitching, even in Nashville. Did you only watch him last year? I don't think he is a platoon candidate. That swing should hold up no matter what arm the pitcher uses.
  18. I agree but here are some of the reasons I can think of for why people are down on him1. Don Money's and Ken Macha's comments. Both were pretty hard on Mat2. Mat seeming to come in out of shape the year he had a chance to make the team out of Spring Training3. Over-reaction to small-sample size the last two year when he was a pinch hitter4. The Prince Factor - It is hard to follow Prince I've brought this up in another thread, but who hasn't Money trashed in the media at this point? I'm a fan of making sure these kids have thick skin, but I don't know if I like it coming from their coach. Still though, I can see how people would run with some of his comments. Don't forget, TH basically made it his life's mission to make Gamel look bad too, just as he did with Weeks previously. We saw how that worked out for Tom.
  19. Deep down, I don't know why people are so against him. I think he will eventually top out as a 4-5 WAR player who will hit .300+ and be around 25-30 HRs. This year, I would like to see him be above average on offense, which I don't think is out of the question at all. I expect his defense to be better than Prince's and I think he will continue to develop at 1B, making the other infielders better.
  20. Didn't they say he found out a week after the STL series? I thought they made that pretty clear.
  21. Not saying that you're statistically wrong, it's just hard to believe from the way last year went that this is true. Looking back I recall being frustrated and disappointed with Greinke last year more than I was thrilled with him. I remember being frustrated and disappointed with the defense behind him more than with Greinke himself. I imagine he felt the same way when he would try to do everything himself resulting in a poorly timed HR.
  22. Aramis will provide plenty of protection, the whole protection thing only really matters when you have a really weak player hitting behind you. Gamel has to step up to give us a power LH bat though or that could be a bit of an issue. I feel like we do this once a month around here, the few holdouts who believe in protection clearly aren't going to change their opinion at this point. The rest of us aren't concerned. Regardless, even for the protection camp, ARam should provide all the protection Braun need...but who is going to protect ARam?!
  23. I know this isn't the political forum, but Obama requested almost a billion more for NASA than its going to get for 2011. The House lowered that amount, and the only reason it wasn't lowered even more dramatically was because they wised up on the sunken costs and massive importance of the Webb telescope and decided to save it rather than axe that budget too. Anyway, not meant to be a political post in any way. The major reason the city of Houston would want to move away from the Astros name (besides how bad the team has been the last few years) is the cancellation of the Shuttle program. I don't blame them if they want to move in a new direction.
  24. Would you rather have Prince Fielder than the pick plus $20 mill per season? Over the next six years? Prince. We know what we are getting: An impact bat, and the two in arguably the best 1-2 punch in MLB: Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder. Pitchers would come so they don't have to face that. Imagine the 1-8 of Weeks, Aoki, Braun, Fielder, A-Ram, Hart, Lucroy, Gonzales. I don't mind imagining it, but it ends there since its beyond a fantasy. A_Ram wouldn't be on that team. And a year later their pitching would be Yo, Narv, ST3, ST4, ST5.
  25. Because 99% of the posters here are going to jump to argue with a post like this: http://brewersfandemonium.yuku.com/sreply/797238/Brewers-win-negotiating-rights--Japanese--Norichika-Aoki--2-
