Johan Santana pre-injury is probably the poster boy for this strategy. I want to say that he was in middle relief for at least a year and a half before dominating the AL. I think it is the best approach for most playoff caliber teams.quote] If a team can afford to lose out on hundreds of pre arby innings, sure. Didn't the Twins do the same thing with Liriano? You wouldn't want him as the poster boy too.
I get that, but I don't get why Brooks Conrad couldn't also be "this year's version of Mark Kotsay"? Conrad, if anything, is a gritty tough player who hustles all the time, and has MLB experience and successas a pinch-hitter and role player. Because he probably wouldn't be taking ABs away from better players just because the coach likes him?
Way behind on this thread and I agreed with you 100 pct at the time. But Estrada's just proving to be one of those rare commodities that's simply better as a starter than a reliever. I think its more likely he has unsustainable numbers with BABIP and LOB% as a starter while having more normal numbers as a reliever. I don't expect him to keep this up, though I would love to be completely wrong.
I just constantly wonder how many people even bothered to listen to Morgan and RR last year when they consistently said that Morgan's early bunts weren't called from the bench? That it was Morgan doing that on his own? Christ, Roenicke had a whole interview in which he talks about not "necessarily always liking a sac bunt early on," because it can take you out of a big inning, and how those calls don't always come from the bench(to sac bunt). While that is the case, it happened so frequently that shouldn't it have been the job of Roenicke to rein him in and tell him he doesn't have the green light to bunt every AB? Agreed, ultimately it is the manager's fault. If he thinks his player is bunting too much, there's a pretty easy solution beyond claiming its not his fault to the media.
The only way that I know of to stream MLB audio or video on a phone is with the MLB specific App. It works great for me with 4G LTE and even with Verizon's 3G. I use the At-Bat Lite app, as that was instructed when I purchased MLB.TV. You should not be able to stream it through your phone's web browser, though I admit there may be a way to do it. Its just probably not worth the effort since the interface is much better in the App.
Sounds like a good time, but I will most likely have to work. But FYI, bleacher tickets are already going for $19 for this game on Stubhub. I would guess they get down to around $10 by August, so I wouldn't necessarily go rushing out to get these just yet.
The ARam signing is costing this team $6 mil in maneuverability this year. Morgan/Parra/Verras comes in at $5.5 and it seems like there had to have been better options for all of them. (Just to be clear I like Morgan, just think some combination of Aoki/Schaffer/Gomez could have been an option).
I said it once a few years ago in a post and had a bunch of people get mad and call me immature, probably even worse than when I called the Journal Sentinel the Urinal Sentinel. I'm always shocked when people don't know about something that's basically common knowledge around MKE, at least you can have a sense of humor about it.
Lolla lineup was released if anyone feels like traveling a few hours: RHCP, Black Keys, Black Sabbath, Jack White, Florence, Shins, Justice, Passion Pit, The Weeknd, Sigur Ros, Bloc Party, M83, Metric, FUN., Dr. Dog, and tons others.
The funny thing is, even the stories about the heckling were false and misleading. The MVP chants easily drown out the cheater or whatever else chants by Cubs fans. I wasn't there Monday, but last night it was pretty obvious.
That goes both ways though. You know how much stuff is in vegetables these days? Going from meat as the main part of your meal to just a part of it is a personal choice that wont work for everyone, especially since a lot of people may include some processed unnatural addition in lieu of meat. Regardless, my body processes meat just fine. I think we need to get away from saying this diet is better for everyone beyond just general things like eat less processed foods and white flower.
Are you talking about the fans behind me on Sunday? They were loudly wondering why "worthless stats" like OBP, OPS, and WHIP were on the scoreboard. Yes, and I doubt they post here, but you never know.
And that's the point. It's not easy, but I make it work. And yes, I've been told by nutritionists I'm meeting my requirement. I guess I just don't get the disdain. Anyway, to each it own. I don't like to argue about people's diet choices. But I will end with, considering all the benefits, I think a vegetarian-friendly diet should be strongly considered by all. I looked at your original post again and you made a valid point that I think I read the wrong way. I live in a hipster area of Chicago and get a lot of alternative stuff thrown at me all day, so sort of took "vegetarian-friendly" diet to mean not eating a lot of meat. I think you simply meant a diet that includes a lot of veggies, and I can't argue that thats healthier than one of mainly meat. I would go so far as to say that I actually eat a vegetarian friendly diet. In the end though, I don't think I would call it that. I would say what makes my diet healthy is an abundance of non processed foods and variety. Regardless, I plan to enjoy a huge spinach salad when I get home tonight.
If beans is her main source, she needs to eat rice as well. Beans and rice together form a complete protein. Alone, not so much. I try to eat around 1 gram of protein per my body weight each day. I don't even want to imagine how I would do this without eating chicken.
It's not really that meat is unhealthy, it's that a vegetarian-friendly diet is more healthful because vegetarians consume less animal fat and cholesterol, and more fiber and antioxidants. Vegetarians also consume less amino acids and omega-3s. The best diet you could have is a quality combination of healthy meats and veggies. As others have said, if people want to be vegetarians for personal reasons, thats totally cool, but I don't get why some people think its "healthier." I'm lucky in that I love veggies. I eat a giant salad every night, along with tons of chicken breast for lunch and dinner. Usually some brown or wild rice or some quinoa too.
I had to skip the end here at work. My dad just started chemo today and I didn't want to start bawling in front of my co workers. Really good read and inspiring stuff at the start. Makes me want to go spend even more time with my dad.
