  1. I think it really depends on the role. I have been sending thank you emails for all of my interviews, and in each case, the interviewer has responded. But these are positions where I will interview 4-5 times at a company to make sure it is a good fit for both sides- so obviously both parties are investing a lot more time and effort than the majority of positions.
  2. Just started a job search in the new year and its become apparent that I have a lack of experience when it comes to leadership compensation packages (what is appropriate to expect/ask for) and setting proper delineation of responsibilities. If anyone has experience in this area, could they please message me? For context, I have been applying and networking to interview for Director type roles where I figured I would be bonused in some relation to revenue as this is what I am used to, but I'm getting call backs wanting me to pursue SVP and even C-suite roles. I'm lucky to be in a good market for my skillset.
  3. Difficult to discuss without spoilers, but if you are speaking to the part I assume, its HBO. Why would they stay away from that?
  4. It's been a while since I played the first game, but it felt very true to the source material in tone and look. I think some minor parts of the story were tweaked, but I could be misremembering. I really enjoyed what I saw so far.
  5. Thats crazy...what are the odds that the only 3 minutes you will watch happened to be the worst performance I have seen from them in the last 3 years.
  6. BJ Surhoff would like a word, may he rest in peace. .
  7. I'm going to wildly and irresponsibly speculate that Oakland was supposed to be the 3rd team or the next move after the Hader trade and that they really valued Ruiz. It just took however many months to start the deal back up.
  8. Just wanted to chime into some of the comments I am seeing as I'm currently connected to this field. First off, Level 3 direct current fast chargers can typically get a vehicle to 80% in 20 minutes. When traveling across the country, this type of fill up is the method people use. The charging network companies (Volta, Electrify America, EVgo) have a lot of data to support this. Someone also mentioned placing the chargers at chain restaurants. This strategy is already in place. I've mostly seen agreements with grocery stores, banks, and convenience stores, but quick service restaurants make a lot of sense too. In the next 3 years, the big buildout will be coming to offer EV stalls at side of the highway gas stations and truck stops. Even with me being in the industry, I don't yet have an EV, so I can't weigh in on the convenience, or lack there of, on longer travel. It is my understanding that taking a 20 minute break every 250 miles is a trade off most people accept over having to drive an ICE vehicle long distances.
  9. The timing of this sucks since we are renovating our house. Looks like I am going to have to sell a bit to make sure I can hold through anything really bad.
  10. That means it wasn't his first movie. His career was already a runaway freight train at that point after he directed Adventures in Babysitting!
  11. So, it's trying to do a modern version of RASHOMON. Interesting. Just read a summary of Rashomon, and yeah...it would appear that The Last Duel drew some inspiration there. Responding to Outlander, I loved all the different perspectives. The differences were subtle, the way she kicked her shoes off in a playful manner in Driver's version of events, vs her kicking them off in a panic as she tripped in her version. The rape scene, especially from her perspective, was obviously not enjoyable, but necessary for the film. Anyway, while it wasn't a perfect film by any means, I thought it was very good and worth the watch.
  12. My wife and I watched The Last Dual a couple weeks ago. I know it didn't do well at the box office, but I really enjoyed it. The way the story was told from the various perspectives, the pacing, the sets, the acting, and the action were all what I would expect from Ridley Scott. My wife enjoyed it too, though probably more for the story it told than for the same reasons I had (not that I didn't appreciate the story). It may not be for everyone though. I'm one of those people who can enjoy the Directors cut of Kingdom of Heaven and Exodus Gods and Kings in a single weekend (back before having kids).
  13. I think retail exited over the summer thanks in part to Elon and the rest of the shenanigans that were happening. There wasn't enough excitement in Nov/Dec to overcome all of the FUD and Omnicron news. Without a blow off top, there shouldn't be a crash (this isn't a crash) and I don't think we are entering a prolonged winter. It seems like the whales and long term holders are continuing to hold and buy more. Good news (the ETH merge?) could get things restarted and maybe we finish this cycle just 6 months late.
  14. The purpose is to make money right? How do I make money if the exchanges are taking high transaction fees? That's going to discourage me from making trades. Or is the idea that it's fine because we're not talking about 10% gains here, we're going for 100% or 1000%? What's clear to me is that these exchanges are making absurd amounts of money right now by siphoning off transaction fees. Sites I've never heard of are buying naming rights to arenas? That's just wild. The people getting rich off this seem to be the ones that are controlling the marketplace, and it's so unregulated that they can basically do whatever they want. The Michael Lewis book about this era is going to be something. Thanks for those links -- GAME05. There's a ton to digest. I don't even know where to start. Honestly it seems like it would be a better use of my energy to just create my own altcoin, that seems like a better use of my energy. Get ready for BF.net coin or something... As far as I can tell, the FIAT onramp I used, Coinbase Pro, has a .5% fee (less if you are sending more money). A quick google of an EFT fee shows a yearly .95% expense ratio. For someone like me who plans to hold for more than 5 years (I am in year 5), buying the actual crypto seems to make a lot more sense. Also, I can trade at any hour of the day. But again, whatever gets people into the space is a good thing. Also, the exchanges, like Coinbase and Gemini, are very regulated.
  15. Buy an ETF. There's several Bitcoin or blockchain ETFs (which are mostly composed of companies that hold a lot of Bitcoin/crypto) that move with the price of the big cryptos. That's a good idea, thank you. The ETF route just seems like the worst of both worlds, but if it is how someone is most comfortable dipping their toe in the pool, it serves its purpose.
  16. You still need a FIAT onramp to use a DEX, no? +1 for Coinbase Pro.
  17. My ETH purchases are up 10x and we are just getting started. I'm going to start pulling money out when it hits $6k. My guess is it peaks at $16k (something like going from 8k-16k in a week in Feb). I'm just sticking with the boring basics this cycle.
  18. I really enjoyed Dune and am happy to hear there will be a part 3. I haven't read a book in 10+ years, but would enjoy picking this one up once my kids get a bit older. For what its worth, my wife is not a sci-fi fan, but she really liked the movie too. She also thought Blade Runner 2049 was fantastic, so maybe it is more that she can appreciate great visuals even at a slower pace than the average movie goer.
  19. Saw it last weekend. It felt mostly like fanservice. Standing on its own, it was a pretty weak movie.
  20. Most of the analysts I follow are saying that the major melt up wont start for another month or two and the bull run will likely extend a couple months into 2022. This is based on the fact that long term investor accumulation was still peaking into the end of September. So now I'm wondering if the ETH merge will actually happen before the correction. I need to take some profits for an upcoming renovation, but I will likely change my overall strategy after that.
  21. This didn't age well!
  22. Hope everyone is nearly loaded up for the home stretch. https://mashable.com/article/twitter-bitcoin-tips-nfts-profile-pics
  23. The funny thing is, this is almost exactly what BTC did 4 years ago in September. This cycle is still eerily similar to the last one and whales are continuing to accumulate in anticipation of the next 3 months. Sept 2017 saw a crash below 3000, a solid run up in Oct back into price discovery, an early Nov correction to freak out the new investors from Oct, then the price went something like 5x in the next 5 weeks.
  24. SOL has been down for about 14 hours now. This is the 7th largest project by market cap and it would seem that it has some pretty serious flaws. I'd imagine the price is going to drop pretty dramatically once people are able to move their coins again.
