  1. His 2004 and 2005 were 200+IP & sub 4 ERA/FIP. He'd basically be our #1.
  2. One of my favorite things on the internet. (Note, very NSFW, so don't watch if you want to remember Uke as the family man and NBC announcer).
  3. I just don't think its that binary. An early takeaway and a hyper efficient offense with perfect QB play can also help a pass-rush when defenders can pin their ears back and get after the QB.
  4. This team goes as JLove goes. If he plays our of his mind like he did at the end of last year, they can beat the Lions even without a better pass rush.
  5. Any transplants or travelers heading to the game? Ticket prices are just too much for me to pull the trigger.
  6. Don't you think they can afford more than 1 hotel room?
  7. Let's be real, the team has vastly outperformed expectations given the change in management and injuries. I am beyond thrilled at the results we have seen from this group of players and am more excited about this next run than I was when I thought we had the next A's/Braves pitching staff locked up for 5 years in Burnes, Woodruff, and Peralta.
  8. Yes, here's to no wall punching in the locker room.
  9. I think you have made your opinions very clear at this point.
  10. I am struggling to understand how someone could have such an advanced eye at 20. Its one thing to be extremely talented at barreling up the ball, but he's started to command the strike zone.
  11. Sorry, but Gary Sheffield was the best rookie in 1989, and nobody can convince my 8 year old mind otherwise.
  12. I missed the first part of the game, so when I saw him run to first, I honestly had no idea anything had happened to him.
  13. I was thinking this too, but with 3/4 starts left he's at 108 IP. Last year he hit 140, so I'd think the Brewers are looking at 160 as the cutoff? If they want to keep him a starter through the early stages of the playoffs, I think they will.
  14. I've had Intel and CAT pretty much forever and am afraid to sell at this point.
  15. He's 20 and squaring up high quality breaking balls at the highest level of the game. That's nuts. But let's also not pretend that the game will slow down for him and his eye will get better. That's a good thing. Can't "walk off the island" is an old idea and doesn't apply to him anyway.
  16. I'm probably in the minority here, but I don't mind Murphy's approach here. Give the guys enough rope to hang themselves. I'm not a lip reader, but he clearly mouthed to Devin from the dugout "you got this." Devin wanted to stay in. When he took him out he said "good job" and not in a sarcastic way. I think he trusts his vets. Devin, and of course Megill, need to recalibrate to their current abilities. But I don't mind the trust your guys approach, even when they fail. Bonus points for getting thrown out after. I think this team is going to have some good conversations in the coming days.
  17. But how will he explain this to his son?
  18. I'm late to this thread, but my 2 cents (worth less than that as I've had a few cocktails tonight): I think we are in the beginning stages of the singularity, meaning we will see technological, and by extent, societal disruption similar to the industrial revolution, only exponentially dramatic. The next generation of LLMs, will have capabilities similar to masters degree subject mater experts, still needing guidance/context to solve problems. Once humanoid robots come online (25/26) that could change quickly with the amount of data they will absorb. I'll stop there, so I don't sound nuts, but I think we will see major economic disruption within the next 2-6 years. I have 2 kids-- a 3 year old and a 5 year old. I try to make peace with what their future will be like and how to prepare them if my experience is completely irrelevant. As a baseline, I met me wife in a bar from friends literally pushing me to muster up the courage to go talk to a total smoke show...that is already an antiquated way to find a partner compared to swiping on your phone. What happens when all the entertainment, personalities, and companionship you need are curated directly to you? Anyway, I'll hold onto my NVIDIA, INTEL, and CAT and then lets hold onto our butts. That's the end of my TED talk.
  19. Just to be clear, you view this team (injuries and all) as a legit World Series contender if Burnes was still on the team vs the current team makeup? That alone makes the difference? This isn't a gotcha type question, just trying to isolate the issues this team faces and understand your position.
  20. How quickly sentiment changes.
  21. I don't know that it will happen, but it wouldn't surprise me at all to see Weimer put it together in a year or two similar to Gomez or Podsednik.
  22. I'd think Turang and Ortiz are the middle infielders and they look at fill 3B with a free agent or prospect.
  23. If nothing else, this gives the Brewers another chance to get into a fight with Pham.
  24. With respect to Wiemer, I'll bring this up and die on this hill: “I’m just a big believer in players that are athletic and players with speed, they sometimes develop a little bit later because they’re so fast, so aggressive, that they bring the game back to them a little bit and it’s a learning experience.” -Doug Melvin, 2014
  25. I can't disagree with this, but also, they have had, what 20 relievers throw so far this year? And 16 starters (grain of salt with the opener). Basically, everyone is hurt. I wonder if this is the rebound from the COVID shortened year for a team who throws a lot of young/developing arms.
