  1. Yup it was Foxx in 38. In the 1940s, Ted Williams accomplished each of these things in different seasons: hit .400 Win triple crown Win triple crown Win MVP Win MVP Kill Nazis Kill Nazis Kill Nazis And did a second tour in the Korean War. A pretty incredible man.
  2. Wow and yuck. I will guess Gio or no one.
  3. Assuming that teams have reams of scouting footage on everybody in this digital age, especially someone that's been the league for quite awhile. I like the idea of getting GG.... I think having a stabilizing veteran in the rotation who shouldn't cost us a ton and who has better numbers than other rentals this year (at least Hamels) is a win. Get'er done David Stearns!!
  4. For what it’s worth I think Walker performed admirably last year during his brief stint with the Brewers. Wish we had him back actually.
  5. Not this thread again! Thought we had finished with this last deadline. But in all seriousness, though I tend to think Gray was way overrated last season and that this year’s numbers prove it, he could be an interesting buy low candidate. I wouldn’t want to give up a ton for a guy who I view as a number three but some lottery tickets to the Yankees for Gray May be worth doing.
  6. Hard pass on Hamels for the reasons already pointed out. Five years ago that would have been awesome but there’s no way he is that much better than what we already have. Also, practically speaking, pretty sure that he has Milwaukee on a no-trade list and that he would demand we exercise his $19m plus option for 2019. I want absolutely no part of that salary for next year and I doubt that David Stearns wants to handicap next year’s payroll with someone like Hamels either
  7. This had a realistic possibility of happening last season? Didn’t know that.
  8. It isn't okay for someone to say the things that Hader said. Put yourself in the shoes of the minority or gay 17 year old "kids" that read his posts. Disgraceful and unacceptable. I don't think that anyone is arguing that it's ok to say the things that he did. I do however think that there is ample room for forgiveness and moving on from these original tweets. Hader made these remarks before he was under contract with any professional baseball team and it probably isn't even allowed under MLBPA rules to discipline him for something he did before he even agreed to abide by any sort of professional codes of conduct. His voluntary participation in sensitivity training is a good sign for his current maturity level. And while I will be the first to point out that these comments are really bad, I don't think that it's the job of MLB to go back and sanitize players' social media from before they were even signed (or adults). I guess one other (probably unpopular) viewpoint I definitely have is that I don't look at MLB players as heroes or role models of any type. Without trying to sound callous I care way more about what someone does on the field then what they do in their off-field lives. And though I do think that there is a role for discipline for a current player who says something like this I simply cannot for the life of me understand why we really care at all what a guy does or says off the field when everyone can exercise their own free speech rights to combat the words being spoken or typed. Racism and homophobia are pretty asinine viewpoints to hold and I think reasonable people would simply see these comments for what they are- idiotic and not based on logic. MLB intervening doesn't change that one way or the other.
  9. I would have to assume that any employer who forcibly “checks, monitors, and clears” their employees social media is in violation of a ton of privacy laws and would face some pretty serious First Amendment challenges in court. That being said he obviously should have never posted this/voluntarily erased these himself.
  10. I still think that the value for Machado has to be decreasing by the day despite apparently more competition from other potential suitors. Far from being the midway point this season, following the All-Star Game there are only 64 games remaining. If a team wants to reap the max benefits of landing Machado the Orioles have to realize that their window to maximize his trade value has to be closing with every passing day.
  11. Agent- Congrats for your client! Will you still be doing a live podcast in DC? I am here and plan on going to at least a few days of FanFest if not the game itself. Would love to stop by.
  12. And then there's Perez, super glued to the bench and there just in case for every position. Or Saladino.
  13. I am guessing its partially because teams have built up a good relationship with the hotel over the years and partially because Milwaukee doesn't exactly have a ton of five star hotels like other big league cities do.
  14. Serious question but has anyone heard one actual rumor connecting the Brewers and Marlins on Realmuto? Just seems like a lot of speculation and that the organization might be completely content with a Pina/Kratz tandem for the rest of the season.
  15. Let me guess, this is a Bleacher Report or some other fan-generated content article. I believe the author was named "High Heat" or something along those lines.
  16. At least the Cubs fans do put some money into our local economy. I will give them that.
  17. RIP to 1972 Brewers pitcher Chuck Taylor who passed away today at the age of 76. https://www.dnj.com/story/sports/college/mtsu/baseball/2018/06/05/chuck-taylor-mtsu-baseball-dies-st-louis-cardinals-new-york-mets-milwaukee-brewers-montreal-expos/672514002/ He only pitched in five games with the Brewers but posed a 1.54 ERA during the '72 season. Always sad to see guys from an earlier era pass away.
  18. I think maybe we get three ASG selections this year.... guessing Hader, Shaw, Yelich.
  19. That's fine. They can watch their team lose while giving our team money.
  20. Hamels does have a no trade clause for what it's worth.
  21. I tend to think that you don't go from winning as many games as they did last year to being completely terrible overnight. If I am the Dodgers front office I am chalking this up to injuries and bad luck and hoping for a big second half to re-enforce that idea.
  22. Shocked that you were able to locate a picture of 1992 Brewer Neal Heaton in a Milwaukee uniform. One game appearance. Cool project idea, may I ask what you want to do with it? Also, I think I remember the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel having some pics of Mark Leiter back in 2001. He did play a decent amount of games with the club that year.
