  1. Yep, definitely. It wasn’t an issue for Jim Palmer because he only played in spring training during his comeback attempt.
  2. I love Stroman to the point that he is one of my favorite pitchers and one of the guys I would most like to see in a Brewers uniform but I simply don't believe that Toronto will put him on the block for at least another half season for many of the reasons outlined above. If they do I would jump all over him though, seems like a ton of upside in acquiring a guy with his top of the rotation talent.
  3. I thought I saw this in The NY Times recently. Very funny. Loved those brewers teams.
  4. My understanding is that they get to keep their bonuses. I could be wrong but I believe that to be the case.
  5. I haven't really looked deeply into this, but I would guess that Milwaukee ranks somewhere in the middle of the pack for having guys from Japan play for the team. Obviously the Dodgers, Yankees, and Mariners have really jumped into the Japanese market over the years. That being said, for a medium/small market franchise and city it is kind of interesting that we have had six guys (Nomo, Nomura, Saito, Suzuki, Aoki, and Ohka) play for the franchise. Not that it's particularly relevant here but at least there is some precedent.
  6. There are at least two on this thread
  7. I know it's not an exact science, but being a nine time All-Star has to mean he was considered as one of the best at his position by his peers during the years he played.
  8. Figure that it’s worth bumping this up as the one and only living legend Tim Dillard has re-signed a minor league deal with your Milwaukee Brewers. Awesome!!
  9. I will hate seeing him in that uniform. Let’s hope the Maddux touch is cursed.
  10. I mean, the Cubs absolutely have some long term salary on the books and certainly could have used a bit better starting pitching. That being said they did make it to the NLCS and I tend to think that the playoffs are mostly a crapshoot with the winner usually being the team with the best bullpen and who happens to be playing well at the right time. As a Brewers fan I would like to think optimistically and hope that this is the beginning of the Cubs spiral back towards irrelevancy but I tend to believe that Theo knows what he has to work with (a TON of money and a talented core) and will continue to make decisions accordingly.
  11. I wear a Sheffield jersey as a joke. Christmas gift from my brother.
  12. This Nationals game is so incredibly frustrating right now. To lose is one thing but to lose by giving the cubs runs is sickening
  13. He's not a free agent. He will be one after next year. Yep, thanks. Realized that later after I posted the above. Still would love to have him if we have a need there after next season.
  14. The thing with Otani is there is cap to how much a team can sign him for (aside from those with penalties who can't offer as much), meaning there is literally a level playing field for signing him financially so where he goes is going to be his own personal preference, not where the money is (ignoring the loop hole extension he'll sign before his second season). No way Milwaukee is anywhere near the top of his list unless we guarantee he'll play the OF when he doesn't pitch, which isn't going to happen either. Ah ok. Thanks Jericho. I actually wasn't sure how that worked. Probably a pipe dream anyways but boy would I love to see a guy like that in a Brewers uniform.
  15. One other guy that really interests me is Otani from the Japanese league. I am sure he will come with a hefty pricetag (including $20 million to be posted to his NPB team) but isn't this the type of guy we should be taking a serious look at? Count me as more willing to risk money on a guy like Otani than someone like Lance Lynn.
  16. Count me in on DeGrom or Stroman. I really don't know enough about the Mets or Blue Jays systems to know what it would take but if we could land either one of these guys I would be really pumped.
  17. Unless I missed something in this thread no one has mentioned DJ LeMahieu from the Rockies. Maybe I am missing something, but is there any reason not to target this guy? Seems like it would make more sense to sign him than to sign Cozart and make him move over from SS to a position he has never played before.
  18. Do we have any idea what the Rangers settled for with the insurance company? As a poster mentioned above this is a very interesting case study on the value of a 40 man roster spot.
  19. I loved the Keon catch over the wall to end the game about a month ago. And the Friday night game in New York against the Yankees when Aguilar hit two bombs. Game wasn't as dramatic but just loved beating the Yankees in New York.
