  1. Seemed clear RRR didn't like Halton, and as manager it's his right to make stupid decisions and not play the guy. But if Francisco is playing out the year at 1B could we please have Bianchi be the starting 3B?
  2. I've been following this, really I have, but I still haven't heard what exactly these players did wrong, and how MLB is able to prove it.
  3. Everyone can be a first baseman on the 2013 Milwaukee Brewers! Only requirement is to never have played the position.
  4. I think this team is better than their record. The question is, even if they play better are they good enough to compete in 2014? I think the answer is no. For that reason, several players are tradeable and should be shopped. Here's my list: Yo Lohse KRod Axford Ramirez Weeks Aoki
  5. I didn't mean to imply Arrieta and Strop for Yo. Just that this move makes it less likely the O's would have interest in Gallardo.
  6. I was hoping the O's wanted Gallardo. They go for cheap solutions, so one team that actually had something to offer the Brewers has made their move. Too bad, Doug didn't take a risk. Kranitz knows the Orioles pitchers.
  7. When the Brewers lost 106 games in 2002 they still drew almost 2 million fans. Amazing for the smallest market in baseball. Brewers fans realize, more than any other MLB fans, the opportunity to watch MLB baseball is a privilege and joy. And a helluva lot fun.
  8. Here's my friend of a friend of a friend who knows somebody's girlfriend who's girlfriend knows Corey's wife's sister story, but........I was told a couple nights ago Corey has been frustrated by the way the Brewers downplayed his original injury. Apparently he was worried all along he might be out for the year and was dismayed by the team's insistence he'd be back by mid May. If that's true, shame on GM and ownership for their temporary solutions at 1B. Doug Melvin has been the best GM they've had in the last 30 years, but how he responds to the travails this season is a true test of his ability. It may be time to clean house.
  9. Yeah, he did pretty well in his start, didn't he?
  10. But the Brewers have Veteran Gamers who Know How to Win and Play the Game the Right Way. Sabermetrics can't put a value on that, only the keen eyes of an aging scout. Thank God we have YuniB. The AP even wrote a story about he great he was in April. RRR was quoted. Much mocking was made about Yuni being cut at Spring Training by another team but how clever Doug was to bring him back. The Cardinals, facing adversity, actually bring up players to fill roles. They play them on a regular basis. They are so clever. Cheaters. Matt Carpenter was a 26 year old with great success in a long minor league career before he was given a full time job in St. Louis. Golly, they are so lucky giving a minor league player a chance to succeed in the majors. If only the Brewers had their secret to success. Damn you Tony LaRussa!
  11. Halton seems like one of those guys that screams "AAAA" to me. Much like Juan Francisco.
  12. If Scooter hits for upper 200 batting average and an OPS over .700 he'll be a good player for the Brewers. Seems like he could do that at the major league level. Probelm is, Rickie has been hitting over .400 with an OPS over 1.200 since Scooter arrived. There was no need to call him up. They should go back to playing Rickie nearly everyday and hope they can trade him by the deadline.
  13. If they can get a decent high minors pitching prospect for Aram he will be gone in an instant. I agree this looks like coverage for upcoming trades, and some hope for even a little offense at 1B in the next month.
  14. We are exactly at the point in last season when Rickie slowly began to pull himself out the horrible slump. That doesn't mean it will happen this year, but there have been signs of life his last 10 games. From May 30th on, Rickie hit 261/346/445. Bianchi has made some gaffes at 2nd, so my guess is they prefer Gennett in a soft platoon with Weeks for the next month to see in Rickie will start hitting like he did last June.
  15. You can blame it all on the starting pitching, but I see an offense that can't build a big inning or score more than 2-3 runs a game. Name one time the offense has come through this season and won a game. Jump 3-0 against the Brewers and the game is yours. Who wil be the DH in Minnesota? Gonzalez? Yuni B? Weeks? Will they call up Hunter Morris? Khris Davis? No, I don't think so either. Ron loves the veteran defense/no hit play. He mistakes no hit for plus defense every time. The lineup is pathetic and I see no effort to change it.
  16. Rickie has the 6th best obp on the team. that fact it's a horrible .280 is a reflection on a team that is crappy offensively. I am tired of hearing Joe block and Uek talking about "5 .300 hitters on the team". It's a crappy offense, and Rickie isn't the worst part of it, but he is part of the problem. LuCroy has a .280 obp. YuniB and Gonzalex and Maldanodo are horrible. RRR doesn't play anybody else enough to see if they can help with the bat.
  17. If you are in your car and have your keys, then you can be arrested for drunk driving in Wisconsin. As I understand it, the only way you can be in your car and not get OWI is a) you don't have your keys, or b) your car is in your own driveway.
  18. How would the officer know he didn't drive part way home and decide to pull over and sleep it off? In order to prosecute, there has to be some evidence that the suspect operated the vehicle. I don't think so. Similar arrests have been reported in our local paper (La Crosse) in recent years. One guy left a bar, climbed into the backseat of his car to sleep it off and received an OWI. It was his 3rd offense and he ended up with jail time, as I recall. The guy was quoted that he thought he was doing the right thing by sleeping in his car.
  19. Rickie is having a terrible season to be sure. At what do we start a topic about Lucroy's terrible season? Or do the white guys get a pass?
  20. They really only need 4 OF'ers at this point. As said above, Bianchi could probably finish a game at the corners in an emergency. Unless Davis can learn some versatility in the field, his only future with the Brewers is as a PH. So I'd prefer he stay with the team and work from that role. But I see the logic of keeping Lalli instead for now. He's left handed, a 3rd catcher, and with Hart still out helps a bit with 1B issues. I hope Roenicke actually finds a couple starts a week for Bianchi, but more likely we'll never see him play except to PH or in a double switch.
  21. This is one of my favorite posts of all-time on BF. Thank you very much. That someone responded to it in a serious manner is a source of pride for me. It may be the greatest accomplishment of my 2013, and here it is, not even May 1st. I'll leave to each of you to decide what that says about me. Go Rickie! Go Scooter!
  22. Since April 13th Aoki is hitting 132/214/237. Weeks 169/273/260. Maybe they should both be demoted to the minors and Gennett could play both positions. That would show them. Clearly they aren't trying; Weeks is just refusing to sit down for a game or two because he just wants the extra cash from all them at bats. I bet he spent all winter dreaming this up and plotting how he would play terribly, yet refuse to take a day off just so his performance bonus would kick in and he could laugh-HAHAHAHA. That's something he can proudly tell his grandchildren some day. Poor Jemile don't get it. He didn't wait until a big contract to intentionally start playing bad. Still, them Weeks's they smart, sneaky smart. Figurin' out how to play really bad once they make a cool million and all. Some people might think if they kept tryin' and playing good, they'd make even more money, but Rickie, he's done got his own angle and it workin' for him real good. Real good. I think he been whispering to Aoki and telling him to start playing bad too.
  23. Well then it's settled. Cut Rickie. Yuni should play 2B, Gonzalez 3B, Lalli at 1B. NL pennant here we come!!!!!!
  24. Aoki is batting 132/214/263 his last 10 games.
