  1. Exactly. It's a zombie show, so I'm willing to forgive the sometimes terrible dialogue, but I just plain don't care very much about any of these characters. The main character is the only one I really like at all. The supporting cast is very "blah" to me. When the blond woman wanted to stay back inside the CDC... I really didn't care whether she went with the group or not. I think I was supposed to - but I didn't. Same with the other woman. I don't even know their names because none of them have any personality.
  2. I'm pretty sure Gamel hits lefties better than righties, actually. He wouldn't need a platoon partner, he just needs to be able to play defense.
  3. Ick. Unless Billingsley comes over with him http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  4. We got 2 years of the Blue Jays ace for a prospect. I guess I can understand people being worried about Marcum's injury history, but I'm still surprised how many people think we could've gotten more for a guy that has not even played AAA ball yet. I don't really want to get into an argument about whether or not Marcum is a "true ace", because it's really obnoxious and it seems there are only 5 "true aces" in all of baseball by a lot of people's standards... but we got 2 years of one of the best pitchers in baseball. A friend and I were discussing the deal through email and he said this about Marcum: "Garza would be wonderful. His WHIP is 1.25, which is awesome in the AL. He'd really benefit from a move to the NL. (BTW, Marcum had the 5th lowest WHIP in the AL at 1.15...which is staggeringly low. That's better that Sabathia and Price. To put that in perspective, Gallardo's WHIP is 1.37 and he pitches in the NL, in the weakest division in baseball)." Made me feel even better about the trade. I think it was worth the risk - especially if we end up keeping Weeks.
  5. I don't know the Rays roster well enough, so maybe they don't even need or want Cain, but if they do... an added incentive is that we are just the type of team that can afford to take on Garza's increasing contract right now. No long term risk, either, if they wanted to just pay him year by year the next two seasons.
  6. Cain, Jeffress, and a lower level/high ceiling prospect for Garza? I could see that working.
  7. Since it seems more likely that Jeffress sticks as a reliever, I don't have much worry about dealing him. A great reliever just isn't worth that much to me. Rogers is so close at this point that I'd be hesitant to deal him, though. We also need some depth in the rotation.
  8. I've read that if the Red Sox acquired Adrian Gonzalez, they most likely would not be able to sign Beltre... giving him less leverage. I wonder what type of deal he will get if the Sox are out of the running.
  9. If we can get a guy equal to or better than Randy Wolf, we should have quite a nice rotation and we should be able to compete this coming season. Especially if they somehow acquire this guy without losing Prince.
  10. Not much of a finale. I didn't understand why everyone was so standoff-ish with the scientist in the CDC. That never really made any sense to me. They were really rude to him from the second they got inside the hatch-thing. Didn't care for this show much past the first two episodes... but I'll give it a few more next season before giving up hope.
  11. It's tough to lose Lawrie but this is what you have to give up to get a solid #2 like Marcum. If we could just add one more starter that is as good or better than Randy Wolf.... we would absolutely compete next year. Especially if we didn't have to lose Prince to acquire that pitcher.
  12. Unfortunately, I agree that Braun will leave when his contract is up - if not sooner. I don't believe there is anything to the rumors of trading him this offseason (I think that came from Witrado just making things up), but I could see him wanting out of Milwaukee early if we stink another year or two. And almost all the time... the player gets what they want. Regarding Tulo... I don't see why you'd offer anyone this long of a contract with the way money is guarenteed in MLB. Glad it's not us.
  13. I'd be willing to sell it or trade it for a Rick Vaughn bobblehead if you have one. Please email me at thesaltshakersband@yahoo.com if you're interested. Thanks!
  14. After the last two episodes, this show is starting to feel like LOST to me. Nothing really happens until the last 10 minutes and then it's over. I hope the last two episodes are better - I enjoyed the first two.
  15. Although I agree Samsung has the best picture, some of their models have had some capacitor issues the past few years. I know because I bought a Magnavox that had the same issue. Almost had to put $200 into a TV that wasn't even 5 years old. Luckily I had a friend that is good with electronics that opened my TV up and replaced the capacitor himself. I would google whatever TV-brand you're going to buy along with the words "capacitor issue" to see if there are hits or Consumer Reports about it. So far I've heard/read about a lot of issues with Philips/Magnavox and Samsung. Basically when HDTV's were first being mass-produced, some companies used very cheap capacitors that would slowly burn out and cause the TV to "warm up" for very long periods of time. Before I got mine fixed, it took literally 20 minutes for my TV to stay on. It was ridiculous. I think Samsung is the best picture of any TV, but I thought I'd pass my recent experience on. Because of the issue I just had, I'll be looking for a Sony or Panasonic TV next time I'm in the market. You're definitely looking for a TV at the best time possible. A lot of people are predicting that now until the end of this year should have the best deals on HDTV we've ever seen.
  16. Witrado sees Braun's contract as a reason he's more likely to be traded, I see it as a reason that he's less likely to be traded. Also, Witrado is bad for America.
  17. I'm going to say now that I think the Lori/Shane thing was going on BEFORE the zombie takeover occurred. If that's not the case it just seems kind of weird and rushed. I think they'll eventually reveal that she was having an affair with his partner before the Walkers started popping up.
  18. I've had a 20 pack for the last 5 years or so and I don't think I'll renew at least until spring. I too want to see how they handle the Fielder trade and pitching acquisitions before I commit the money. The perks for 20 pack holders are really lame... I don't see any value in NYCE passes either. It sucks that they want the money so early for something you don't get to enjoy until 5 months later. I've been optimistic the past few years but I just don't think they're going to bring in two good starters... so I'll most likely just buy tickets through other people this season or pick up a 20 pack this March if they end up bringing in Greinke and Bumgarner http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. I don't see any reason why they'd part with Kershaw... but Billingsley is a possibility as he is becoming less and less cheap.
  20. Agreed - these grades are a joke. I would give almost everyone a higher grade than they received.
  21. I agree that Greinke is exactly what we need. A #1/#2 guy that has a substantial salary on a team that doesn't have a shot next year. We can afford to absorb that salary and he might give us a shot. Hopefully they'd take prospects other than Lawrie but I don't know.
  22. I really like BA and to a lesser extent Bill Schroeder. I think we're very lucky to have them. I also think they have a good chemistry together now. Congrats to BA, I hope we get to keep him at least a few more years.
  23. what did lee do? i don't have access to the game right now.
  24. Wolf sure doesn't like working with Lucroy eh?
  25. I agree, I don't mind keeping Narveson if he's the 5th starter... but we better be getting two pitchers better than Randy Wolf in the offseason. Wishful thinking, probably.
