  1. I give my kudos to the mods as well for being able to deal with a goofball like me.
  2. That's a valid point, and that sure is a factor, but I think if you asked Vegas who was a better team, they would say the Brewers. That's just my speculation though.
  3. Because Vegas was looking to make some extra dollars off of a big name. What a sucker bet. I like those odds though. Notice how the Twins are 25 to 1 and the Brewers are 12 to 1 to win the WS. Vegas also thinks the Twins are getting lucky. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  4. I didn't see that post, but I thought it would be a good time to post the standings given that we took the lead. My apologies.
  5. I agree with this, but this might not sit well with many of us.
  6. Yeah I just posted the updated Wild Card standings and it appears that the post keeps disappearing. Did I do something wrong?

  8. Ah. That makes sense. I was thinking Marcel was a human being. Talk about true objectivity I was hoping I'd get a free 5 dollars. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  9. It was actually really nice to watch the Cubs and not have to hear Len Casper gloat about every single player on their team. Thank you, Daron Sutton, for lightening my evening.
  10. Yeah, that's true, and that Marcel guy is a lot better at projecting than I am because I'm a biased fan. So at least we get objectivity out of it. I'll bet you 5 bf.net dollars that he does better than those projections though for the fun of it.
  11. Then why aren't they advisers of GM's or something? To my knowledge, this guy just sits in his basement and plugs numbers, but maybe he actually does work for a team or something.
  12. I don't think it means that he wasn't "trying" this year, I think maybe it could light a fire though. It also could put more pressure on him and cause him to press more so it could go both ways. I was just stating the best case scenario in my post above. Sometimes a trade like this can make another player refocus and they can play better, although that doesn't seem likely. Now that we're at it, here's the most likely scenario: Weeks continues to play like he has been and Yost goes to a platoon to get the best offensive advantage. So do these stat people just like to discount 263 AB's in 2008 where Durham did a hell of a lot better than that? If guys like Marcel are so good at predicting the future, why aren't they GM's?
  13. My biased like towards Steve Hammond made me against this deal at first, but it was a long shot for him to even be in our rotation next year and I don't think he had much upside. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong about Hammond. Losing Ford doesn't bother me because we have a good amount of OF prospects. After thinking about the deal, I think I like it. Best Case Scenario: Weeks gets his head out of his you know what and starts to produce, while Durham comes off the bench and has some clutch hits at the end of games against Kerry Wood and Carlos Marmol.
  14. I want a good contact hitter because then if the leadoff hitter gets on you can use the Hit and Run more. JJ Hardy has a .350 OBP and Cameron has a .320 OBP. Somehow I think you knew the answer to that question, but I answered it anyways.
  15. It has been reported the Cappy will be starting the year in AAA for somebody and then he will attempt to work his way into a Big League rotation. Whether that is the Brewers or not has yet to be determined.
  16. My dream move would be trading Prince for Nick Adenehart and Ervin Santana. That gives the Angels the bat they need while we get the following rotation in 2009: Gallardo Santana Parra Suppan Adehnart. Now that, my friends, is a playoff rotation.
  17. Who would you rather have? Street or Taschner? I would think Taschner will have a cheaper asking price and he's not too shabby either.
  18. Because you want a contact hitter in the 2 hole with a good OBP. You want to get as many people on base and in scoring position for your 3, 4, and 5 hitters, and and all or nothing player like Cameron who strikes out a lot fits better in the 6 or 7 hole.
  19. Especially now that LaPorta is gone. The other option would be to start the year with Gwynn in CF and then promote Brantley if he's playing well in AAA.
  20. Isn't Dykstra a lot more polished though than Brewer? I'm just not seeing the comparison.
  21. Things just haven't been right with our buddy, Brewer. (No pun intended). He's batting .217 for BC right now and he was struggling before his promotion. What is going on here? This guy was supposed to be an offensive SS that would have to move somewhere else because his bat would play, and well his bat isn't playing right now. Wasn't he a 2nd round pick 2 years ago? It's early yet for Brewer, but things aren't very encouraging. Where do we go from here? He'll have to spend at least another year at BC, IMO, to get things straight.
  22. I recommend this thread to anyone who is drunk at 2 am in the morning. Great stuff. Fred Jelson? NICE!
  23. It wasn't me, but the trophy is currently sitting in my basement so I'll FedEx it to whoever owns up to it.
  24. As you all know, I'm a Ned Yost supporter, and I disagree with this decision. The good news for you Ned Yost bashers out there is that if this doesn't work, he'll be gone next year!
  25. All of that analysis you did is correct. The Brewers would have the money to get Sabathia, but the issue is that Melvin and other small market team GM's don't like to commit large contracts over many years because it just cripples a team if that player were to get hurt or simply not meet those expectations. That's why Sabathia will not be a Brewer in 2009. We could probably find the money, but we just can't afford to take the risk, but a team like the Dodgers who have a lot more money coming in per year in revenue can afford that risk. Also, how are we going to replace those players you stated above? Those players cost money too. Who's going to be our CF? We are for sure going to have to sign more bullpen arms. We are still going to be in the market for more starting pitching because Sheets is going to leave town if we'd get CC. The safest option is to take the draft picks and say goodbye and trade the high value players we have right now for lower cost and lower risk starting pitchers who very well might put up similar numbers to C.C. in 2009.
