  1. I think we're all just in awe of Kendall because of how bad our #1 catcher was last year. All Kendall has to be is average and I will be satisfied.
  2. Didn't Jenkins strike out 6 times that game?
  3. I wonder if the Brewers would trade Sheets before the deadline if somehow the team went in the tank and was out of contention. It's not something that's fun to think about, but not impossible.
  4. I wish it was that simple, but we need to maintain pitching depth in case of injury and that's what makes guys like Bush so valuable. They never get injured and they're on the mound every 5 days. The easy solution seems to be to move him to the bullpen, and I think that is likely to happen with a few more bad starts because the Brewers don't really have a true long man. Then we don't lose him from our 25 man roster for nothing. Also, I'm going to be watching closely how Zach Jackson and Narveson do in AAA because the better they do and the worse Bush does, the less value he has.
  5. What happens when Pujols elbow blows up?
  6. Should we pencil in Wednesday as a loss with Bush pitching against the Reds unless the Brewers give him 7 runs of support? Although that is entirely possible with Josh Fogg going for the Reds.
  7. The sound of: Gallardo Suppan Parra Villy Bush is a significant downgrade to the rotation next year unless we get huge improvement from the young guys. It looks like the Brewers are going to have to go out and overpay a mediocre pitcher again this off season if Sheets leaves just as the Twins did with Livan Hernandez when Santana bolted. Dear Mark Rogers, Please have a breakout year and be ready for the rotation by 2010. (same with Jeffress) Sincerely, Rillo
  8. Yeah he really had the same stuff as in Chicago, but he was in perfect conditions and picture perfect on location. Let's hope he keeps that same command in his next appearance.
  9. I'm not questioning Eveland's talent. He just wasn't mentally ready for the Big Leagues when he was called up to Milwaukee. We don't have time to wait around for pitchers like that anymore. It's win now which is obviously not the mode that Oakland is in if they are giving guys like Eveland a spot in their rotation.
  10. Well he was pretty brutal in Milwaukee.
  11. Pitched 7 strong innings for the A's today only giving up 1 run on 6 hits with 7 K's. Nice to see him doing well.
  12. I think I spent more time waiting in line to pee than I did watching the game. Damn beer.
  13. I'm not basing this on 1 game. If you read my initial post, this is about the last 2+ years of Dave Bush.
  14. I don't get into all those crazy Range statistics so I can't prove Gross's range is bad, but I've seen him enough to know it's not much better than average. I do know that Gwynn has a ton more range than Gross. I don't think that needs to be proven. I'm sure somebody's going to bring back some crazy statistic to make me appear wrong so let's hear it. Gross also plays very deep in the OF so that limits is range on balls that are hit to shallow CF.
  15. It would probably be smart to take Parra out of the rotation when Gallardo comes back to limit his innings, but I think we'd field a better rotation with Dave Bush not included in it. We are really banking on Villy and Parra to become above average pitchers this year. That's kinda scary.
  16. No, because if you can't measure it with a statistic it is not important. Gwynn could easily be a starting CF for some team. Just not the Brewers. If he did start in CF, he'd be bottom tier, but nonetheless, he very well could. I'd rather have Gwynn in CF over Nyjer Morgan, Norris Hopper, Nate McClouth, or Corey Patterson.
  17. I think I read that 3 ERA projection on ESPN. I should have considered the source. But only a #4 or #5? I thought he was more than that.
  18. So let's get this clear, Rluz. You'd rather have Gabe "No Range" Gross in CF?
  19. When we got Dave Bush in the Overbay trade, I was thinking big things for Dave Bush, and he had an ok year in 2006 so I expected improvement in 2007. Well that didn't happen. Today was kind of a fluky start for him because he walked so many batters when he usually throws it right down the middle to avoid such a thing. I remember people projecting him as a future 20 game winner or for better accuracy on stats, a 3 ERA pitcher, and he just doesn't look like that type of pitcher or even close. It looks like he's going to be a high 4 ERA pitcher who'll win 12 games for a team that gives decent run support. It's only one game, but I was hoping to see better out of Dave Bush in the last 2+ years we've had him.
  20. I think I'd rather have the Brewers face a lefty like Santana over an average RHP.
  21. Exactly. And knowing he's going to get the day off tomorrow there was no harm done. I like having more than one, good set up man.
  22. Hopefully Villanueva gets off to a good start then against a poor offense.
  23. Yes and it helps the Brewers that he's not in the rotation. Gwynn playing bad would hurt the Brewers. I just like whatever is best for the team.
  24. Riske was already warm so pitching him in the 9th was just fine. He gets tomorrow off and has Turnbow, Gagne, and Mota available. Sounds fine to me.
