  1. Well, if he turns out to be as good as you think he will be, then I'll agree with you. I'm not bashing the Hader trade so much as I'm just saying, the original trade doesn't look that great on paper. If Gasser does what we hope, then I'll jump right on board. Also, along with the players that were involved with the original deal, we can't forget the psychological toll that trade took on the team. They missed the playoffs, and that trade had a little something to do with that fact.
  2. I'm sitting back and waiting to see what else is done with this roster. We add another bat that is better than what we have now, and a decent actual #2 starting pitcher (via trade or FA signing), then we'll see what happens.
  3. I really wish people would stop acting like that 2018 rotation, as crappy as it was, can happen again, but just with a new batch of crappy pitchers. That just isn't going to happen again, especially with our current offense. No chance in hell we can get that lucky again. The current rotation isn't going to take us the the world series, and is probably a long shot to get us to the playoffs, especially since our offense is totally unproven and full of young guys. If all those young guys hit like we need them to, and give us a chance, is this rotation going to get us what we want? It will take something pretty special to happen with our roster as it stands, for us to come even close to what happened in 2018. Just stop acting like every time we put together a 2018 type rotation, the end results will be the same. It isn't going to happen that way, it just isn't.
  4. I think his point is that the Hader deal in itself probably wasn't good, and that it took a desperate Oakland team to make that deal end up on the positive side, which in the long run, it did! I get what he is saying, but then again, I read his posts for what they are, and I don't automatically think the guy is trolling.
  5. The Brewers have “entertained the possibility” of trading Devin Williams, says The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal. Some real mixed messages coming out of Milwaukee, considering the team just signed Rhys Hoskins and has now traded its ace in Corbin Burnes. It’s hard to say how long Williams will last as a top closer, and he would certainly bring in a nice haul. The Brewers, though, could wait and see where they are in July; relievers tend to bring better returns at the deadline anyway. If the Brewers did make a move now, then Joel Payamps and Trevor Megill might battle for the closer’s role initially, with Abner Uribe waiting in the wings. 1h ago Source: The Athletic
  6. Ok, then what do we do with Wilken, who has to be knocking on the door late 2024 or for sure in 2025... Wilken moves to 1B?
  7. I wonder if Hoskins is wishing he had signed elsewhere now that they just traded away their ACE?
  8. I hope so. Turang needs to hit. Start him at AAA. I want Black to start on opening day, and give us a reason to keep him in the line-up for the next 6 years.
  9. I don't think the younger generation doesn't like nudity, I read somewhere that pornography is the latest addiction for the younger generation. I think they get it in high doses, especially compared to my generation, who had to go to all those 80's movies to see it. lol Maybe they just like to say that nudity at the movies is gross and distasteful, but then go home and plug into porn when no one is paying attention. So many opinions in today's younger generation are driven by the latest social media trends, so nothing surprises me, but I find it REALLY hard to believe that they are put off by nudity, especially younger generation males.
  10. What are Black's splits? If it's obvious he needs a platoon mate, fine, but if not, let the kid play!
  11. I'm pretty sure the plans are to have Rea in the starting rotation. I haven't seen anything that says otherwise anyplace.
  12. Oh, believe me, I get it. I haven't looked at his minor league K numbers, so I don't remember if this was an issue before his 126 at bats, but if this was Hiura, there would be those here that would be pointing out his awful K rate... I also understand that Hiura doesn't have a leg to stand on when comparing defense, not the same player at all. Just sayin'
  13. Mitchell and his 38% strike out rate doesn't concern anyone? (Keston Hiura take a bow)
  14. UPDATED: Too bad we couldn't have given him 8 million and the incentive package... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- James Paxton’s contract with the Dodgers guarantees him $7 million, not $11 million as previously reported. Paxton will get a bonus for being on the active roster on Opening Day, and further bonuses start kicking in once he makes his sixth regular-season start. He will max out at $13 million if he makes 20 starts or if he’s on the active roster on Opening Day and makes 18 starts. 1h ago Source: Ken Rosenthal
  15. Absolutely this.
  16. Say what you want about Turner. but he would have looked pretty freaking sweeeeeet in our line-up.
  17. Tim Anderson is such a turd though. I'd find it pretty hard to root for the guy.
  18. I like this, but he's another guy who just can't stay healthy. If he could, he'd be gone by now.
  19. Big NO to Urias. Big YES PLEASE to Bauer!
  20. Yeah, the daily game of "is he healthy enough to start" and IL stints just don't interest me.
  21. I simply don't want to spend the money it will take to get Chapman, even if a deal similar to Hoskins. I have faith in Tyler Black, if we have another 15-18 million to spend in 2024, lets use it on a starting pitcher, free agent or via trade.
  22. Again, Burnes will not be traded at the deadline unless we are out of the playoff hunt. I'm not sure why people keep posting this. The above is my opinion, not factual.
  23. DVD collection update: Dumped: 1. Bad Girls - Female cast western. Just not a very good movie. I almost can't believe I had it in my collection to begin with. 2. Bachelor Party - Man, I used to think this movie was hilarious back in the day, and there are still some serious classic lines, but it wasn't as good as I remembered, and I just don't need to see it again. 3. The Bad News Bears (remake with Billy Bob Thornton) - A decent remake, but just doesn't hold a candle to the original. No need to keep it when the original is available to watch instead. Kept: 1. Bad Moms - Love Mila Kunis and Kristen Bell, and can't remember the name of the other lead actress, but this movie cracks me up. 2. Bad Moms Christmas - See Bad Moms above, same deal. 3. The Bad News Bears (Original) - An absolute and complete classic! Probably one of my top 10 movies of all time. Nostalgic and hilarious. 4. The Bad News Bears Breaking Training - Didn't suffer the sequel blues... LOVE IT! 5. Bad Santa - a Foul and disgusting movie at times, but I can't turn away... 6. Bad Santa 2 - same as the original. 7. Bad Teacher - I'm a Cameron Diaz fan, and as a retired teacher, this one hits home often. Funny and entertaining. 8. Bad Times at the El Royale - Love this one! Lots of surprises and unexpected scenarios and solutions. Great movie! 9. Barbershop - Hilarious early 2000's flick! 10. Barbershop 2 - Another sequel worth keeping in the collection. 11. Basic Instinct - Famous for a specific scene which is much more clear in the dvd format than the old school VHS. If you know you know... 12. Basic Instinct 2 - Keeping it only because it goes with the original... Wasn't as good, but still enjioyable.
