  1. and we don't have any of them now either... If we don't have the production replaced that they offered us after acquiring them, there is a pretty good argument that we have gotten worse... I'm choosing to believe that we do not go into the season with Jake Bauers as our starting 1B, there is just no way that happens...........................................right?
  2. Meh, then you simply have Alvarado pitch the 8th, with Williams as your proven closer. Imagine that starting rotation, with Alvarado and Williams to lock down the 8th and 9th?
  3. $$ talks, always has, always will...
  4. I just can't see them throwing 16 million at one guy, even if for only one season. I have been trained to think that is too much money, it's part of being a Brewers fan. I mean, if we really want to pay a bat, and according to most, Hoskins can be had for 2 years 32-36 million, why not take that route? We know that isn't going to happen though.
  5. Yes, I know I'm gonna get bashed for this idea, but he is still out there, and is going to want to prove something. Someone is going to sign the guy, why not us? I haven't seen a single thing about him this off season. Would he take a one year 10-12 million deal to cash in on a future multi year deal with someone else? Talk about a risk - reward situation...
  6. True, but then again, it's always the same people who argue with them...
  7. This is what we typically do every year, or so it seems.
  8. I should be a little more clear of my intentions when I post this meme. I post it every time someone says he is cheap, if I could post the meme in blue I would. It's not saying that I think he is cheap, just my failing attempt at sarcastic humor.
  9. If we don't sign Santana, Bauers will be our starting 1B in my opinion. We mess around and wait too long, Santana is going to be scooped up by someone else, and we'll be stuck again with no legit 1B. I feel that Hoskins is a pipe dream, especially now that a couple larger market teams have been connected to signing him.
  10. My gut tells me that Corbin will be pitching for a BIG MONEY contract this season. We should see CY YOUNG Burnes again if he has it in him!
  11. If the price is right, this would make sense. I am also not a believer in Moastereo as a key piece for a full season of 162 games.
  12. Hader got us Contreras, I will NEVER complain about that trade, especially with hindsight.
  13. If we still had Burnes and Woodruff anchoring the rotation, I agree, I wouldn't be as concerned. But the odds are that Burnes is gone, and Woodruff is already gone. Our pitching is going to be a giant question mark, no matter what fancy stats you throw against the wall. Our current offense (assuming Santana returns) is probably average at best. Add that to a rotation in flux, (I mean we know for certain we aren't going to sign a big name free agent) and showing concern is a pretty normal reaction to this team as it sits for the 2024 season.
  14. Trading Burnes at the deadline if we are in the hunt for a playoff spot is going to be a PR disaster (as well as team chemistry suicide). The only way it makes sense to deal him then is if we are out of it. Since we don't have a crystal ball, we don't know which it will be. It makes sense to me to deal him in this off season if for no other reason than to avoid making the call at the deadline, especially if we are in 1st or within close striking distance. If we are a game up or a game back, and we trade Burnes at the deadline, the fans will revolt! The players will cry, and we will have anarchy! You think what happened with Hader was bad, imagine trading Burnes, Adames and or Williams with the playoffs on the line again... Won't be pretty. Surely everyone can see his, right?
  15. Can't compare playoff appearances due to complete change in format.
  16. There are a few big market teams connected to him, so our chances are at almost 0%. Any bidding war, and we are out of luck.
  17. Wonka: Meh. I went not expecting much, and was entertained but nothing more. My wife really wanted to see it, otherwise I wouldn't have gone. In my opinion, definitely NOT a must see, but there are worse ways to spend a couple of hours.
  18. If he's the 2nd best piece, then we are probably getting fleeced... Just saying.
  19. I don't understand the Schmidt love in this thread. He is what, a #4 at best, maybe a number 3 type in an average rotation? We need to shoot a lot higher than Schmidt to replace Burnes in the rotation.
