  1. ...wondering if a deal could be made for Manny Pina? Looks like they are going to be looking for a starting catcher, and I don't see much out there in FA. Might the Brewers be willing to part with Pina in the right trade scenario?
  2. I got the same, I didn't read closely anything about SSH rewards aside from a SSH bobble. I believe it's Knebel if I remember right. Knebel was last year...Cain this year.
  3. why is that?
  4. Soto or Vlad Jr. in a keeper league? I'm guessing that there would be a chance that Vlad might still be there with the 12th and 13th pick (12 team league which I won last year, hence the 12th and 13th pick) Can't say the same with Soto... It's a very competitive league, and we keep 6 players.
  5. Right, but when Scherzer retires, their next best option will take his place. Could be a guy in their system, or a free agent. The league will not fold because one player retires or leaves.
  6. I disagree. Players are 100% replaceable, but how many people can afford to own a team? If a player opts to not play baseball because their salaries are not what they think they are worth, there will be 1000 guys willing to play for that embarrassing salary. And fans rejected replacement players when the owners brought them in in 1995. As a group, they're not as good. Players in Independent leagues, the minor leagues, college, etc...nobody's paying $50 a seat to watch them. I am not suggesting replacing the entire league with new players. I'm saying if a player is not happy with his salary (no matter who the player is, it can be Manny Machado or Hernan Perez) and he won't play for X amount of dollars, the next guy in line will play for his rejected salary. I am not talking about a wholesale replacement of every player in the league. Obviously, that will not work...

  8. Like last season, I will put no stock in Jimmy Nelson helping us this year. If he does, that is just icing on the cake. I'll believe it when I see it.
  9. Really looking forward top watching him this summer in Appleton.
  10. Don't forget the costs of ownership is not simply player salaries. The front office, analytics departments, Murphy Money, first class tickets for players, team charters, top hotel rooms, locker room attendants, in-game entertainment, etc. People on here are acting like: (Brewers Revenues) - (Players salaries) = profit This is simply not true. THIS.
  11. Seriously, limit the profits an owner can make? Isn't that a bit socialistic? Imagine being a business owner, and someone says that you can only make so much in profit, if you hit that magic number, then you have to give it to someone else? Oh my, that is a slippery slope.
  12. Why do you feel sorry for Puig? If he is good, the fans will embrace him, just like all other fans in MLB.
  13. I'm curious... Does this qualify as an intersting story?
  14. Yahoo has Vlad Jr. as the #39 player overall in fantasy drafts... Geez, the kid hasn't hit one single MLB pitch and he is already being touted as the 39th best player in all of baseball? (for fantasy purposes anyway) That is pretty shocking. Glad I was able to stash im in two of my 3 keeper leagues. The more I read on this kid, the more likely I am to hang onto him.
  15. Everyone who I know that has it says the exact same thing. They put up wth it because it is so much cheaper than cable. To me, not worth the hassle.
  16. wow. ok then. I have nothing more to say.
  17. or EVER for that matter...
  18. Why? In what other area of life other than sports do we expect the employees pay to go up every time revenue goes up? And I’m sure these players who demand more pay if profit goes up will gladly take lower salaries if the owner loses money right? Players need to understand one thing. They are worth what the owners decide to pay them. For years and years and years players were getting absolutely absurd amounts of money in contracts that were terrible for the teams. Owners finally wised up and said “screw that” and stopped paying huge amounts for average to below average output. But let’s face it, they are still getting huge amounts of money (on top of all the other perks pro athletes get). The minimum salary.....the absolute lowest amount of money you can be paid, is over $550k. It takes me 6-7 years to make that. And that’s just for the bad players. If you are even halfways decent you’re a millionaire. And if you’re smart with your money you can retire in your mid thirties. I’m sorry but I will NEVER side with players on money issues. Safety issues? Sure. Money? Never. Owners are businessmen whose goal is to make money. Are they greedy? Sure. But what business owner isn’t? I’m sitting here paying $15 to park a car within walking distance of Miller Park and $4.50 or whatever it is for a friggen hot dog and I’m supposed to feel sorry for pro athletes who want more money to play baseball for a living? Sorry. I wish we had a like, no, LOVE button on this site! Great post Paul!
  19. Sexton?
  20. Yup, I spent an hour this afternoon typing into that link. Kind of fun, but it is hard to come up with the perfect one with only 6 characters and no spaces. I found myself really needing that 7th character many times. Was also a little bummed that SIXTO was taken.
  21. Ummmm, and without owners, those that pay the players millions and millions and millions and millions of dollars, MLB wouldn't exist. The owners exist because people want to pay money to see the players. No one pays money to see Mark A sit in his box seats. If there weren't owners, there would be no one to pay those players. We can go in circles all day on this topic.
