  1. Why is that a good deal, for anyone? Is 20 million for a re-tread starting pitcher a good deal for the Brewers? I stand by my original opinion, glad it was them instead of us. I would wager that he comes no where near what he did for the Cubs when they first got him. He is going to digress, probably near his 1st half Ranger numbers. Glad the Cubs wasted 20 million on this guy!
  2. Cubs exercised LHP Cole Hamels' $20 million option for 2019. The two sides weren't able to work out a different deal and the Cubs just decided to go ahead and pick up Hamels' option in order to keep him around. The veteran left-hander struggled mightly for the first four months this past season with the Rangers (4.72 ERA over 20 starts) but rebounded with a 2.36 ERA over 12 outings with the Cubs. He will turn 35 next month. Nov 2 - 12:37 PM This makes me happy! Glad they saw fit to waste 20 million on this guy.
  3. No problem...Thanks for checking!
  4. I'm quite sure we will not be on the hunt for a 3B this off season. Maybe a guy who can play 2B/3B, but not a straight up 3B.
  5. Damn, just realized that this means he can't be the subject of next year's Coaches vs Cancer bobblehead...
  6. Those moves lead to 97 wins so I highly doubt that is the case. No one could possibly say the team underperformed under CCs leadership. It’s not like he is going to a team with a better manager. Maybe if CC had made better decisions, we win 105 games? CC is not God, there were countless decisions made throughout the season that were highly questionable, that didn't work, and that had a direct effect on losing games. I am not so much a CC hater as I am a guy who questions some of his game managing decisions. Yes, all managers make dumb decisions, but that isn't a reason to excuse them.
  7. Take my statements for what they were, questions. Not everything is about vents and drama.
  8. This is horrible news. There is something amiss on that coaching staff... It's just too strange that we would allow him to leave over money.
  9. I'm gonna throw this at the wall and see if it sticks, but is there any chance that DJ did not agree with CC on a regular basis as far as his bullpen and pitching management? I know some will say that is wrong, impossible, etc., but as many questionable moves that were made all season long (yes, CC was far from perfect, and the realists know that) maybe it wasn't only the people in the IGT threads that didn't agree with CC, maybe DJ thought he did a lot of stupid things too. Maybe he just couldn't stand the thought of another year sitting next to CC and watching him make moves that he absolutely disagreed with. Just thoughts.
  10. Only barely related: The small file cabinet where we keep our Brewers records (like SSH invoices and such) is covered in old magnet schedules. I could have spray painted it a Brewers color but I like the magnet collage better. Any chance you have a 1994magnet on that cabinet that I could pry away from you?
  11. Do we really want Grandal after seeing how horrible defensively he was against us in the NLCS? Lucroy? C'mon... Hard pass. I can see us rolling with Pina and Nottingham, that is the most realistic at this point. I think Kratz won't be back, great 2018 story, but I think we need to be happy what we got from him and move on. Ramos is a realistic goal, but what will his cost be? Draining the farm for Realmuto is tempting, but not prudent. Would he look nothing but awesome in our line-up? YUP! Just can't see doing what it would take. I'm fine with options 1 and 3, and would love to steal option 4, but I just can't see it happening.
  12. I wonder how close Yelich and Realmuto were as teammates? Not that he can control where he is traded... I would think Yelich has talked up Milwaukee to JT if they are buddies.
  13. No way I'd give Miley that kind of dough. Half that, sure.
  14. Unless it's the Cardinals. If that is the case, he is the NL Cy Young the next 5 years.
  15. LOL Bucks schedule for practical reasons, Brewers magnet schedules for the collection!
  16. Say we got rid of Shaw, who plays 3B? It would take a pretty knock out great haul to move him imo. We have nothing ready in the pipeline.
  17. I think it is a little naive to think the Yankees aren't going to be interested. Imagine adding his bat to that line-up? Their "lack of interest" is probably a ploy to make other teams think they have no interest, and possibly lower his price. If the Yankees stick to their guns based on their comments though, I will give them credit at that time...
  18. I just like them on the fridge during the season as a reference point. I started collecting the Brewers and T-Rats years ago for no good reason. Still need that darn 1994 Brewers and 1998 T-Rats...
  19. Christian Yelich has withdrawn from participating with the MLB team in the upcoming Japan All-Star series. Yelich was one of eight players announced to participate back in September, but he's understandably going to get some rest after the Brewers' postseason run. Following a great first season with the Brewers, Yelich is the favorite for the NL MVP Award, which will be announced on November 15. Source: Adam McCalvy on TwitterOct 29 - 9:09 AM
  20. Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports that the Yankees' baseball operations and scouting departments are "lukewarm" on pursuing impending free agent Manny Machado. To be clear, this doesn't rule out the possibility that the Yankees will end up signing Machado anyway. However, Martino hears that the Yankees' baseball operations and scouting departments weren't thrilled with some of his actions during the postseason, including some plays which could be perceived as "dirty." It's something to consider with a player who will almost certainly receive a mega long-term contract this offseason, but we don't expect it will ultimately cost him very much, if anything at all. Until Machado signs somewhere, the Yankees can't be ruled out. Source: SNY.tvOct 29 - 11:57 AM
  21. If they are honest, this is probably true. I hope he gets raked over the coals...
  22. That was so strange to see her wearing the Dodgers cap, but cheering for the Red Sox... I doubt she has a clue what to cheer for, or who to cheer for, or when to do the cheering.
  23. Dodgers fan? I'll never understand split loyalties as a fan. I root for one team, and one team only. I dislike all other teams.
