  1. I'm surprised to see so many people saying what I'm thinking here. I've followed the Brewers since the late 80s, and this team right now is very hard to watch. It's hard to be a fan right now, but I admit that's mostly an emotional thing because objectively they are still in the wildcard by multiple games, and even if they play .500 the rest of the way it will be the best Brewer record since '92 (right, or no?). Personally, I sort of emotionally divested after the Cubs series, and I've been watching much more detached than I did through July. I was thinking last night probably would be a night that would make somebody working in the Brewer marketing office squirm. Wisconsin will always be football first, and a lot of people watched an exciting Packer game, beating a huge rival that many have said can win the division, all in the context of maybe the most nationally talked about sports story of the last two months (Favre). Then, that game got over and people flipped over to watch the Brewers blow a 3 run lead against a cellar dweller in the middle of what right now looks like another collapse. You add in that fan favorites Sheets and Sabathia won't be back next year, Prince isn't performing like last year, and that Ned makes even casual fans scratch their heads, and it starts to become a tough product to sell. Of course, this comes on the heals of 3mil in ticket sales, and if they can overcome the current struggle and make the playoffs, then none of it matters.
  2. Novaks in Whitewater. Get the Ruben.
  3. This explains my wife and I almost exactly. Occasionally I'll sleep on the couch just one night and my wife will get sort of weird about it, like something is wrong, even though we both sleep better those nights. So, I don't think I'll ever sleep in our spare room because she might draw up the papers! But, I'll continue to use my own blanket and occasionally sleep on the couch.
  4. Everything gets magnified in September. Even when they were bad fans would look for the good things that happened late in the season and latch on to those as hopes for next year. If they were losing games in ways they hadn't previously this year, making mistakes they haven't made already, then maybe you could say something about 'mental toughness,' but these last two losses looked an awful lot like many of the 56 other games they've lost this season. Edit: I just wanted to point out that I recognize this contradicts my very recent post in the vent thread. That's what the vent thread is for, right?
  5. I know that they would be in the playoffs if it ended today, and you can't make too much from a series let alone a game, and that they still have a nice lead (If they were this far down the pessimist in me would never expect the team ahead to blow it). Still, in my opinion the Cubs series at the end of July and this series against the Mets tell us something about this team. Here were two opportunities, at home, to solidify your playoff chances by beating the very teams that may keep you out and thus far they are 0-6 in those games. It's depressing. It's irrational to be depressed by it, but I'm depressed by it.
  6. Why must Brian Anderson recap the game every 5 minutes? Silence would be acceptable sometimes.
  7. Man, I leave for 5 minutes and something happens.
  8. I'm following on Gameday, what happened?
  9. The offense is hard to see, let alone watch. Where is it? Edit: It's on the bench wearing number 8.
  10. We all thought Sabathia was only going to go 8 innings on Monday. I was thinking the same thing. There is no way to predict what will happen next with Brewer pitching. Maybe Gabe?
  11. I've been a Brewer fan for 23 years, my life has prepared me for it. Me too. Last year I got fooled and burned, this year I'm trying to be more level headed. It's hard.
  12. man, the board seems more negative than usual today. Are people starting to fear losing the WC lead? Are you preparing yourself for it mentally?
  13. Bill Hall rarely looks anything but lost.
  14. Could have been worse. It would be nice to see the offense respond and keep the pressure on.
  15. Patrick, I agree with your general take on the payment system being part of the problem. That said, I tip hair cutters because they are standing around in hair all day, and that's disgusting. I feel they are owed a couple of dollars, even if they did choose the job. What about tip jars on the counter? Who gets that money? Those always make me stop and think before dropping in a tip. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. If it didn't violate every BF.net standard, someone could post the scene from Reservoir Dogs about tipping.
  16. I bought this, it's a good deal. I've wanted a PSP for a while so the Madden package pushed me over the edge (the Favre saga nearly stopped me, but I'll deal). The game is good. I haven't played Madden regularly for a few years so I don't know how the PSP version differs from console versions. I used to play Madden all the time, and in my opinion this one is solid. The PSP online feature is good too, but so far they are having network problems. I've tried to play 3 networked games and they've all dropped at some point. I think it's an EA network issue, not quitters.
  17. Tipping is about personal service and paying someone for doing something you could have easily done yourself but just didn't want to. If someone brings you food, that's a person who just brought your dinner to your door so you could keep sitting on your couch watching Full House reruns(or is that just me?). The Cable company, there is nothing personal about that service at all. It's faceless. With furniture delivery, that's more like a 'have to' than a 'want to' if that makes sense. If I want a pizza I could pretty easily go get one, but I'd rather have someone bring it to me (there may be an episode of Full House I haven't seen). But, with furniture, I can't fit a couch into my economy car.
  18. Who did Milwaukee have to sleep with to get this title?
  19. please, just end it. how many opportunities are needed?
