  1. At this point I'd be all for a straight platoon--Gerut/Hart in RF, Casey/Craig at 2B, and Gamel/Hall at 3B. As pointed out, and to be redundant--friga-tific awesome trade Mel Man!
  2. Too perfect to be true (DeRosa)
  3. All I know is that Wooten better take his place in the top 15. Could Smith tick in there?
  4. They most definitely can't keep up this pace. I still don't think they're a wild card team. As pointed out before the Cubs are just waiting to get people back and then they should walk over just about everyone. That they have hung in there missing so many important cogs is just scary. Parra, Suppan, and Looper are not adequate for a playoff contender--an upgrade will be needed. These guys are competitive but lack the necessay talent against above average line ups. But having said that (and of course it's merely an opinion) this is turning out to be my favorite Brewers team ever--hands down. When I see these guys taking pitches, walking like crazy, making awesome plays in the field--well, it does an old heart a powerful lot of good. I love their approach at the plate. It's actually entertaining to watch these guys make the other staff squirm. And if Sveum and Macha are responsible then count me as an official man-crusher on both. I love these guys.
  5. 14BB to 18K. Man oh man. Bring the guy up and put him in the line up. He fits in with the "NEW BREWERS". But seriously, is his defense known as major league ready or above average.
  6. Do we know the history of players who have had the same injury as Taylor? My impression, and it's only an impression, is that this was quite serious, something that could put him behind, and ultimately affect his long term ceiling.
  7. I will say this. The topic is getting tedious, especially on MLB network, etc. There has just got to be something better to talk about.
  8. I'm sad to see him go. I really thought he was our best option if Corey implodes this year. I guess I'm just sentimental about powerful lefthanded hitters who solider through thick and thin to make it to the Bigs and then are released after a tiny sample. Oh well.
  9. While I agree that Braun can be a bit brash, and there are definitely times where I'd like him to tone it down, what do you have against him as a baseball player? I personally enjoy his line of .303/.360/.586/.946 and players like him don't exactly grow on trees (as his OPS would be 9th among active players according to b-r.com if he were listed). Please don't get me wrong. I know he's an awesome player. And I know that he's improving (I used to hate his lack of discipline at the plate). I just don't like his brand of enthusiasm. I won't apologize for that, but I also realize he doesn't have to apologize for his enthusiasm either. I just don't like it. I didn't think he had to lay out after that great catch. In my book he was hot dogging it. That others think I'm nit-picking I'm okay with because it's a legit counterpoint. I do root Braun and I really enjoy the strides he's making. But I'm from the act-like-you've-been-there-before camp. That's all really.
  10. Well, I just puked. This sucks for Rickie and the Crew. I'd rather have Hurricane come up and start against righties with Craig subbing for Hall. Right now that combo is doing too well to mess with. If he failed I'd try Casey. After giving each of these guys 20 to 30 games I'd go to Escobar if both couldn't handle it. I never thought the Crew was a playoff team this year, so I don't want Melvin to overreact and trade. Sit tight, if the starters hold up, and the Cubs struggle, maybe I make a trade later in the season. But for now lets keep it on the down-low.
  11. Bllllllllllllllllfffffffffffffffffffffft! (World's biggest raspberry)
  12. I think that's a good point (joepepsi). He literally has me on pins and needles each time he pitches, so I have to keep telling myself he's still a young lefty who lost some time in the minors due to injury. But when he does what he does Sunday (I can't remember the exact innings) giving up walks and hits after 2 are down--it just drives me nuts. 2 outs and no one on--just get the next guy and get out of the inning. At this point he seems wholly incapable of keeping his pitch counts down. Growing pains are just that--painful.
  13. I'm not a fan of Braun. As a player or his antics, I can take or leave him. His celebrations smack of immaturity in my book, but I realize I'm old school and definitely represent the minority. One of the reasons I can't take the NBA and the NFL is all the ridiculous posturing, and I hope baseball doesn't go down that path, but alas, I fear it will. But...and it's a big but. The whole untucking the shirt thing is ridiculous. Mike Cameron is one of the most upright guys in any major sport. And if this is a tribute to his father, which I believe it is, then lay off St. Louis. The game is over, most fans have already turned around to go out, the other team is exiting, it's not directed toward anyone. Geez St. Louis get a life.
  14. I'm really sick about this. Rickie was slowly becoming my fav Brewer. Quiet, work hard, slowly turning things around. I really hope it's only a short 15 days on the DL. But more importantly how do the Brewers react? I've begrudgingly admired how the Cubs have come through their injuries with a very good record. If the Brewers can't respond in kind I fear we may be looking at the butt-end of the Cubs freight train within a month.
  15. I just hate the way the Brewers treat they're marginal prospects. I hope he refuses assignment and signs with the Cubs and beats us late in the season. It's so frustrating. When will the Brewers learn that you need to give your young players a real shot. Then if they fail cut their butts and be done with it, but this is just ridiculous. And if you don't have a spot for the--keep them raking in the minors and package them in a deal. There's got to be at least a small market for powerful left-handed hitters.
  16. Ugh! That's it really. I'm just one of those guys who doesn't want my best prospects ticking off nickels and dimes of their MLB clock until they're ready to stay and start.
  17. This would be awesome news. What's he working on specifically, and is there any indication that the Brewers are taking him seriously as a viable prospect again?
  18. I'd like to take a chance on Penny, but I don't see the match. Unless the Red Sox are willing to take crap for crap, I can't see this getting done.
  19. It's my impression, and feel free to correct me, that hard throwers, especially young hard throwers take lots of time and tend to greater inconsistency than regular human beings. It may be that he never harnesses his extreme potential. That's why you keep drafting pitchers; they're an unreliable lot.
  20. I think he's for real. I also think Dillard is for real in relief, but for some reason the Brewers don't respect their own people at times. I hope Swindle gets another shot, and Smith too. I know it's complicated and there's good questions about who would be sent down, but if the opportunity arises I'd just like them to get a meaningful shot.
  21. Brad, we hardly knew ye. I'm a Nelson guy too. I wish he'd get some starts against tough righties, but I've never been a huge Hart supporter. But it is true, he's proving himself early on to be wholly unfit for his role. Now, has he had an adequate chance. I really couldn't say; I just know I wish he'd have stuck--all that power in AAA (insert tearfilled face).
  22. If they asked for Stetter plus, would anyone here still do it?
  23. I rarely go to games anymore, but I positively won't go to a Cubs/Brewer game because of all the rudeness and lack of class on both sides. Mother's Day I actually turned down free tickets (and my mother/wife both wanted to go) for this reason. I just don't understand the need to be a jerk to another human being. My best day at the park recently was when Cleveland had to play their games here, and I got talking to their fans--nice poeple, great time!
  24. I can understand how some people think it is disrespectful. I don't agree with them at all. Unless they are willing to call one of the most upright guys in baseball a liar (Cameron) publicly I think they should shut up.
  25. Short term it would be a killer, but long term...there's a lot of upside there. I wouldn't mind taking the chance. Hall in CF, and Gamel at 3rd would probably be our only option.
