  1. Because Gasser is technically optioned, I assume that means that they can't call him up for 15 days except for someone else going on the IL, correct?
  2. I was talking with a friend about this tonight. My concern is the interior rush defense. Best way to neutralize a great pass rush is to run the ball down their throat. If they can't stop the run, the pass rush won't mean much. I get that the cap is increasing. To have two players tie up 1/3rd of the cap, when you have 22 positions to fill on both sides of the ball, is still a little concerning. One serious injury to Love and this can blow up. That being said, it's a gamble worth going for. Put IDL on the early list for priorities for their 2nd round pick next year.
  3. It's written in a condescending tone. I think you can recognize that. I'd give you the benefit of the doubt because how things are written can be misinterpreted, but in my 23 years on this board since it was created and several years on the ESPN board before that, I can honestly say that you are on the Mount Rushmore of condescending posts toward others. There's an old saying, "It's not what you say, it's how you say it." I suggest you take a long look at how you address other posters.
  4. He never passes up a chance to take a shot at another poster over their comments. Don't feel alone, he did it to me in the major league game thread tonight.
  5. Let's not get worked up about bullpen decisions. Until they have their next off-day, it's going to be whoever is available regardless of the score.
  6. Rockies making the Cubs earn it.. 11-7 in the bottom of the 9th, Rockies get two hits but then hit into a DP. Just make the Cubs burn through their bullpen.
  7. I'm referring to those kids who are from Wisconsin. The ones who traditionally filled out the OL/LB/TE spots. WI just hasn't been producing many of them the last 5-6 years. It's been a couple of 4-star kids, one or two 3-stars, and then a sharp dropoff to the kids who go to Northern Illinois/South Dakota State.
  8. Because Adams missed a big chunk of the season. He's only played 60 games this year.
  9. There is a third reason - there has been a lack of talent coming from WI and MN the last 6 years. Yes, there have been a handful of really good players, but most of them came from Catholic families and went to Catholic schools and when you're a Catholic family and Notre Dame comes calling... it's really hard to say no. The other really good player went to Ohio State. And Ohio State and Notre Dame have a lot bigger NIL war chests than UW has. The few other top recruits went to HS their last 2-3 years in WI but didn't grow up there, so there wasn't the history of watching the Rose Bowl teams and JJ Watt, Russell Wilson, etc. No emotional connection to UW, it's just another school near where they lived at some point in their life. But behind those guys there has been a big dropoff in talent. There hasn't been the underrated mid-3-star to high 2-star kids that filled the roster. Some of the others (JP Benzschawel, etc.) just didn't pan out.
  10. Took a little while, but O'Neill looked like a capable backup. A bit Brooks Bollinger like. Need to find a solution to the OL, specifically LT. RG was spotty as well.
  11. Thought it was his foot. Looked more like an Achilles.
  12. First game tonight against Miami (OH). For all of the turnover that UW has had, I think Miami (OH) has something like 2/3rds of their roster new this year. Looking forward to seeing how the interior OL performs. Brunner is nasty and Mandell, the redshirt freshman who won the starting RG position, is an ox. Those guys are going to move some DL against their will. Biggest concern is LT. Shouldn't have to worry about that against Miami (OH), but we'll see if Heinzen gets chipping help from TEs or a blocking RB shading his way.
  13. Matt Wood (I seem to recall that if teams send a catcher they get a priority selection at another position) Luke Adams Josh Adamczewski Brock Wilken Brian Fitzpatrick Stiven Cruz Brett Wichrowski
  14. And they can move LVN or Gary inside on passing downs.
  15. Youngest team in the league just got younger, so people will complain about that.
  16. Giants walk off the Cubs!
  17. Over his last two weeks (14 games) he has struck out only 6 times in 60 PA's. Half of his career K%.
  18. Explains why they kept both Brinson and Stackhouse. Makes me a little concerned about their interior run defense. Say what you want about Clark getting older, but of Clark, Wyatt, Brooks, Wooden, Brinson, and Stackhouse, I think Clark was clearly the best interior run defender they had. Sacks aren't everything.
  19. Time for the season thread
  20. Monasterio's OPS over the last 14 days, encompassing 28 PAs, is 1.159 Aside from a bad baserunning decision, he's been more than pulling his own weight.
  21. Why would he be ineligible? He hasn't played in the majors yet. You can go to the AFL twice - Jordan Clarke did so in 2022 and 2024.
