    Pizza

Deep dish, thick crust, cheesy, saucy, sloppy pizza. You're damn right it's glorious. They had great coupons in the local coupon book, particularly four topping large's for around $15. My favorite - sausage (their sausage is the best I've ever had anywhere), pepperoni, spinach, pineapple:
  2. A former Penn State player has filed a federal lawsuit against Penn State, head coach James Franklin, and another player for violent hazing. The player was allegedly hazed in the shower by another player who allegedly made a reference to Jerry Sandusky(!!!) while doing it, and the player's father - a Penn State alum - allegedly told James Franklin about it and Franklin allegedly ignored his complaint. It is alleged that the coaching staff observed the harassment. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/28484451/former-nittany-lions-player-files-federal-lawsuit-james-franklin-penn-state-hazing If this has any truth to it, Franklin is done. It's one thing to come from some random player, but this came from the son of a former Penn State player who played in the NFL. The player named in the suit was coincidentally suspended for the first game of this past season. Franklin has always come across as a borderline jock douche - he of the infamous "I won't hire an assistant unless he has a hot wife because it shows he can recruit" quote.

    Pizza

I still think there is nothing better than a super slice of sausage & pepperoni at Rocky Rococco's. Particularly before Badger football games. As for small mom & pop shops, Famous Yeti's in Stoughton, specifically their spaghetti & meatball stuffed Yeti Spaghetti pizza.
  4. I disagree with this. The scheme is built on the defensive linemen occupying the blockers so that the linebackers can make the plays. It literally is the d-line's primary job to occupy more than one blocker and draw a double-team. The only games I recall the line being dominated were late in the 3rd quarter and beyond in the Ohio State games because the offense couldn't stay on the field and sustain drives, and maybe Illinois but that is still in question as to whether it was the gameplan or the linebackers. They owned Oregon and their four seniors + Outland trophy winner. Hennigsen, Loudermilk, Rand, and Benton combined for 10 sacks on the year, which is pretty good for a 3-4 scheme (especially considering that it's usually a 2-4-5 against 3-WR spread teams, which is at least half of them).
  5. I have a buddy that lives in Iowa and he says the pizza at the Casey's gas stations is awesome. I have friends in Iowa and that's what they get when they get pizza. I've had it, and it's pretty good. Good price for already cooked takeout pizza too.
  6. Looked for them at Mariano's and I think I found them, but... they were regular price ~$9 on sale for $6.50. Does that sound right? If so, I can't put them in the same category as Jack's. They did have Geno's East thin crust 12" pizzas on sale for $3.50 each so I went for a pepperoni. I'd be surprised if, for about the same price as Jack's, they aren't better, but I have had no issues with Jack's other than having to add a handful or two of cheese to it.
  7. Illinois and Rutgers are quietly showing themselves to be very good teams. Rutgers has been a little up and down, but a few weeks ago they beat Seton Hall by 20. Their two conference losses so far are at Illinois and at Michigan State. Those will not be bad losses.
  8. l had one today for lunch. Outside crust was crisp, middle crust soft, just like I like it, used the Pizza setting on my toaster oven, 425 for about 13 minutes. A couple of handfuls of Roundy's gourmet mixed cheddar ($2.50/bag, lasts 3-4 pizzas) added on and I thought it was great, well worth the net cost of ~$4 (they are usually 3/$10 at Mariano's, plus the extra cheese). Of note, I only buy the half/half pepperoni/cheese. I can't speak for other varieties.

  10. I couldn't resist... (In case you don't get the joke, it's because his last name sounds like "Jerk-o", and this was not directed at anyone on this board.)
  11. What I was implying was not much was the last part of the sentence - only ~7 more rushing yards per game.
  12. Jones averaged 3.7 more carries (but 0.9 fewer yards per carry) and ~7 more rushing yards per game in 2019 than 2018. The only significant difference between 2019 and 2018 is that Jones missed 4.5 games in 2018, and that Jones was a bigger part of the passing game in 2019. The substance abuse suspension in 2018 (with the arrest happening during the season in 2017) probably didn't help to earn McCarthy's trust.
  13. J'Mon Moore says don't forget about him. (He was so bad that you forgot about him already?)
  14. McCarthy was left to make chicken salad out of chicken dung. Rounds 2-5 are where a team is built and should be getting solid starters and key reserves. Here's what he was given the last four drafts of his tenure: 2018: Josh Jackson, Oren Burks, J'Mon Moore, Cole Madison, JK Scott 2017: Kevin King, Josh Jones, Montravious Adams, Vince Biegel, Jamal Williams, DeAngelo Yancey 2016: Jason Spriggs, Kyler Fackrell, Blake Martinez, Dean Lowry, Trevor Davis 2015: Quinten Rollins, Ty Montgomery, Jake Ryan, Brett Hundley What he heck was McCarthy supposed to do with that? Six useful players in four years (Scott, King, Williams, Fackrell, Martinez, Lowry), and one of them has been hurt half the time. I'd be shocked if you could find a worse four year stretch for 2nd round picks than that. The defense is carrying the Packers this year because of the investments in the Smiths, Amos, and Savage. McCarthy didn't have those players.
  15. I believe the rule now is that the clock won't start on consecutive false starts under 5 minutes, and that an illegal motion/formation becomes a false start if after a false start. The reason they were able to do it three times was because New England jumped offsides after the second one. IIRC, the New England penalty took it under five minutes, so they couldn't false start again after that.
  16. Chris Chambers was 5'11"/6'0", 210. Anything but tall and lanky. Donald Hayes was 6'4", but 220. Tall, but not lanky. Lee Evans was 5'11", 200 - not rail thin. Chambers supposedly ran a sub-4.40 at the combine with a 45" vertical. I'd take a Chris Chambers type of career (7600 rec yards, 58 TDs) from Cephus in a heartbeat.
  17. Lack of competition. Outside of Penn State, no good football schools on the east coast, and Penn State was a dirty word for a while (and should still be). Pitt and Syracuse used to be relevant, but haven't been for a while. Rutgers, Maryland, Temple, West Virginia never have been relevant and aren't difficult to beat out for talent.
  18. How you lose 12 yards on three plays is beyond me.
  19. Knowing John Menard, he probably negotiated a cheaper version of their pizzas to be delivered to his stores and the ones at the grocery store are better. Try putting shredded mixed cheddar on the ones you have left. I think cheddar cheese is a lot more flavorful than mozzarella. Frozen pizzas are very regional. No such thing as Jack's pizza in LA or NYC, at least not when I was living there.
  20. Same here, but mine is through Comcast/xFinity. $12/mo/1G of data, plus I needed a new phone (Galaxy S9) which costs $25/month for 2 years (but got a $250 prepaid Visa card through a promo for buying the phone), and my total with taxes for the phone and service is a little over $50/month. Plus, I get better reception at home and at my parent's place in rural WI than I did with Sprint. No 4G at my parent's place with Sprint, but I have 3-4 bars of 4G now with xFinity. I think they use Verizon's network.
  21. I just buy a package of shredded mixed cheddar cheese ($2 - $2.50 for store brand or Kraft when on sale), keep it in the freezer, and put a handful or two on top of the pizza before I put it in the oven. A package of cheese can be spread over 3-4 pizzas. Putting mixed cheddar on the pizza really adds to the taste. For me, the pizza is about the sauce and Jack's has by far the best sauce of any cheap frozen pizza, pretty much the only one I can stand. (It's also about the cheese, but per the above, you can change the cheese quantity and type.) I also have a toaster oven with a pizza setting and do not put it on top of a metal tray.

  23. I think the chances of Cephus returning is at about 5%. If Cephus comes back he might be able to get his stock value up to a 2nd round pick which probably doesn't change all that much of where he would be picked in this upcoming draft. Cephus looks to be a 3rd-5th round draft pick and if he come back he could maybe boost his value into a 2nd round pick. I don't think it would be wise for him to come back and risk injury to improve his draft position. I would not be surprised if the draft advisory committee comes back and says that teams want to see him stay out of trouble for another year. The talent is there, the film will show that, and while he was found not guilty of rape he wasn't an angel that night and the court of public opinion might be harsh on a team taking a chance on him with that incident not that far in the rearview mirror. I'm also pretty sure that he LOVES his teammates and that Coach Gilmore has been more than a father figure to him. Leaving is not going to be an entirely logical decision for him - it will be a very emotional decision too.
  24. Jake Ferguson says hey. Isn't it more like, Bring Your Grandfather to Work Day?
  25. $1.8M/year isn't expensive for a good backup. It's insurance in case Taylor has to kick out to tackle and Madison isn't ready to start the season. We're not far removed from complaining about UDFA's as backups. It's also insurance in case they move on from Linsley, who has a $10.2M cap number for 2020 and is in the last year of his deal. Linsley is good, but not sure if he's worth $10.2M. Unlikely, but possible.
