  1. Berger will announce his commitment on January 4th, and his five finalists are Wisconsin, UCLA, Penn State, Rutgers, and LSU. FWIW, Berger has only made two official campus visits - Wisconsin and UCLA. https://247sports.com/college/wisconsin/Article/Jalen-Berger-Don-Bosco-Prep-Names-Five-Finalists-Wisconsin-Badgers-Football-Recruiting-141114216/ Berger reportedly told 24/7 Sports that he will choose a school that he made an official visit to. https://247sports.com/college/wisconsin/Article/247Sports-Crystal-Ball-Forecast-Top247-RB-to-Wisconsin-141372278/ If true, that means either Wisconsin or UCLA.
  2. The defender either has to go for the block or go for the man and risk getting a roughing the kicker penalty. If Lotti gets it off, no matter how bad, and the defender hits him it's a penalty. I think the chances of Lotti getting it off and getting roughed are the same as it getting blocked.
  3. Fumbling a punt deep in your own territory early in the 3rd quarter while leading in back to back games in the Big Ten Championship game against the #3 team in the country and in the Rose Bowl against the #6 team in the country. I don't know how he can go back to campus. The thought that honestly went through my mind was, check his and his family member's bank accounts. Wouldn't be the first time in the Rose Bowl. I heard from a reliable source it was the Iowa-Washington Rose Bowl in the early 90's that the Iowa punter was paid off, and he basically did the same thing in that game. My source heard it before the game too - was told to bet the house on Washington.
  4. yeah and there's that. That ref basically let a ticky tack foul determine the game. Considering that they had kept their flags in their pockets the whole game (looking at the scuffles, of which Oregon started them all, and no unsportsmanlike conduct penalties were called against Oregon), it was an awful time to finally decide to pull the flag out on a borderline penalty.
  5. Why? He was far from the problem today. He threw an INT, but it was because the defender hit him in the face mask on his pass which should have been a penalty. He didn't fumble the punt that was returned for a TD, he didn't fumble a carry in his own territory, and he's not the one who slipped running an out route that would have been an easy completion for a first down. He's executing the plays that were called. When there are 8-9 guys in the box, the opening is on the quick slants. And if Mertz gets hurt, it would be nice to have a good backup.
  6. He didn't interview last year which I thought meant he knew he wouldn't get the job. He knows a lot of those guys there and they know him. I thought McCarthy said that it would have to be the perfect situation for him to interview last year as he really wanted to take a year off.
  7. Bumping this up so that the playoff discussion goes in here and not in the Badgers thread. Thanks.
  8. Young, talented QB, stud RB, and money to spend. Also play is arguably the worst division in the NFL. I think that job is probably the most coveted of any that are available. The New York media circus is a pretty strong deterrent.
  9. I believe that's your answer.
  10. It was a catch, but it could also have been argued that forward progress had been stopped, as the receiver was going backwards being driven by the defender and not on his own.

  12. No team is under any obligation to give a player a raise in arbitration, and can offer a reduction of up to 20% of that player's prior salary: http://m.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/salary-arbitration
  13. With Encarnacion as the DH, I wonder what the future is for AJ Reed and if he might be available for cheap. He was a pretty good prospect a few years ago but got stuck in a logjam behind Gurriel and Tyler White. He'll be 27, but maybe a change of scenery and an opportunity will revive his career.
  14. GO SAINTS (Ironic that I live about 50 yards from a Saints bar.)
  15. Seven first downs for the Viqueens. Love it.
  16. Who would have thought that Rodgers would throw for more INTs than TDs and they'd win by 13.
  17. I think it was by choice - they wanted to see what formation the Vikings came out in.
  18. I think he's sick of that GD horn too.
  19. What a FA signing. Softens the sting of passing on Watt.
  20. Fackrell creating a holding penalty to negate the TD. Huge.
  21. Kenny Clark! Big sack!!
  22. Lazard has been fantastic on 3rd down
  23. At least we don't have a coach who blows a timeout down by seven in the fourth quarter trying to draw the other team offside.
