  1. Giants may let Panik walk instead of offering arby, and they have no upper level MI prospects. Dubon is blocked by Arcia and Hiura... I'd float Dubon and a PTBNL (their choice of one of Stokes/Grisham/Gatewood) and see what they say. It's early, so the Giants will ask a lot, but they are also in a pickle if they want/need to dump salary because nobody is going to touch Posey, Crawford, Longoria, Cueto, Samardzjia, or Melancon with a 100-foot pole.
  2. Aaron Wilkerson doing what he does, dominating AAA. Would be nice if he could find a halfway point between his AAA results and his major league results. Very small sample, but his FIP and xFIP suggests he can.
  3. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/05/jimmy-nelson-nearing-return.html One more rehab start, then activated. Nelson, Davies, Woodruff, Gonzalez, Chacin I would think becomes the rotation. Pretty solid. I would guess Burnes goes down but does Peralta stay in the bullpen, or does he go to AAA to keep stretched out?
  4. Of the guys that MLB.com has in their 25-50 range, Gunnar Henderson is by far my favorite. Future 3B to play along side of Turang, good LH bat. Greg Jones is intriguing, assuming they move him to CF. Could easily see the Brewers being in on Maurice Hampton. Wouldn't be upset with Michael Busch. In the 2nd round I like prep arms Jimmy Lewis, Andrew Dalquist, and Jack Kochanowicz. Dalquist sounds a bit Freddy Peralta-ish with two and four-seamers and extension that creates deception. Kochanowicz supposedly has a great spin rate on his curveball.
  5. Came within one out of both of these.
  6. Three weeks from the draft and we had our first post in over a month. Pretty telling how far the major league club has come in the last couple of years.
  7. And yet in the 6th mows through the middle of the order with nothing but 96/97 heat.
  8. Not sure what I'm more pleasantly surprised by, seeing Gatewood in the lineup, hitting a home run, or playing 3B.
  9. I think it would be hilarious if he was traded to the Twins.
  10. For Loogy his .730 OPS for righties really isnt that bad either B-R.com has .793 OPS vs RHB. Not great, but not terrible.
  11. Funny thing is that he was starting for the Tigers in the minors. Happy for him, he earned it.
  12. The problem is that Grandal didn't break for home right on contact. They didn't have the contact play on because of no outs; Grandal waited a second or two to see where the ball went before breaking for home.
  13. Dennis Rodman said that 20 years ago. Rebounds tend to come to the opposite side of the shot at an angle equal to the angle to the basket. I.e., a shot from the baseline tends to rebound towards the baseline of the other side, a shot from the wing tends to rebound toward the wing on the other side, etc.
  14. I don't think people are upset with Thompson outside of his reluctance to fill roster holes with veterans (not referring to signing big-name free agents, as he did a few of those, but bringing in guys to be backups and trading late round picks to patch holes created by injuries). It's more about how much decision-making Murphy and others allowed him in his later years.
  15. Alright NBA, you owe us one from 2001.
  16. And despite being drafted at a late age and not playing a full season in the majors until age 30, he was in the majors two years after being drafted and will make at least $25M in his career. Tip of the cap to you, Mr. Fiers.
  17. Give it a rest, all of you.
  18. I'm sure it's been calculated somewhere, but I wonder what the equivalent speed is for the reaction time on his fastball given that he has such a long release point. Shorten the distance between the mound and home, and the reaction time shrinks.
