  1. I would have zero objections to bringing him back. Final arby next offseason, FA in 2020... wonder what it would take. Brett Phillips straight up?
  2. What happens when a child with a hyphenated last name grows up and marries another child with a hyphenated last name? Would their offspring have four last names? We must know each other somehow because I have been saying this for decades. There is a simple solution - don't get married.
  3. This is what people need to keep in mind - it's been one month. Players have bad months - it happens. But it's only one out of six months, not even 20% of the season. There's a reason most trades don't happen until July - the first month of the season is a small sample.
  4. Brewers liked India enough to draft him three years ago... would not be surprised to see them go to the well again. Can he stick anywhere on the left side of the infield? He has a pretty ridiculous BABIP this year though. Same with Jeremy Eierman (but without the ridiculous BABIP). He put up some serious power last year, but has a fairly high K rate. Larnach has done nothing until this year. I like that he's LH, but am concerned about one year wonders. Would rather have Seth Beer; his numbers are down this year because of a .252 BABIP, but once again he walks more than he K's and has a career K rate of 11% and BB rate of 20%. He's been playing RF for Clemson; I haven't seen him throw so I don't know if he can stick there, but he seems athletic enough (listed at 6'2", 195) to not be stuck in LF or 1B. If Logan Gilbert is still on the board though, it's him in a heartbeat.
  5. Cutters and sliders don't work in Colorado - the air isn't thick enough to cause enough friction with the seams to make them break and they are usually thrown too hard to break. To be successful in Colorado you have to change speeds. Barnes doesn't have enough speed delta between his fastball and cutter; he won't do well in Colorado.
  6. Seems weird to limit a position player's PT because of his arm. Legs or back makes sense because you're constantly using those things on every play. But it is nearly impossible to predict how many throws your 2B will make in a game. Not really - there is a lot of variance in the type of throws they might have to make. Will it be a grounder right to him where he can make an easy throw over to 1B or 2B? Or will he have to make a strong cross-body throw going to his right to get the runner, and how much stress will that put on the arm? Will he have to take a cutoff throw in the OF and then make a strong throw to home to save the game? Not all throws that a 2B will have to make involve the same stress on the arm.
  7. This, this, and this. Who would the Brewers have to include with Villar to get him? Ponce? Stokes plus Derby?
  8. https://www.mlb.com/cut4/lohse-appeared-to-announce-retirement-at-baseball-game/c-276180770 Love it. Quite a bit of "recency effect" when people think of Lohse, as his disastrous age 36 season overshadowed a combined 5.1 bWAR/4.6 fWAR over his first two seasons with the Brewers. Final tally of 3.8 bWAR/4.4 fWAR in his three seasons in Milwaukee, so call it a total of 4.0 WAR over his three seasons and at an estimated $8M/free agent WAR he pretty much pitched to the value of his contract. (2015 was kind of a lost year anyway, so who cares - his parting gift was helping the Brewers get a better draft pick position which may have contributed to what could be one of their best drafts - Ray, Erceg, Feliciano, Webb, Burnes, Z. Brown, P. Henry in the first six rounds. There's talent there.)
  9. Houser with his second very nice outing after a rough start to the season. Obviously they are monitoring his pitch count, but it's up to 60-65 now as he threw 62 tonight. He's now stretched out enough where Medeiros can't (or shouldn't) piggyback with him. The Grim Grieper with #13. Sounds like he's a Rob Wooten type of relief prospect (but Wooten had a great K/9), maybe the pitching equivalent of Nate Orf. Another solid outing for Supak. Between he, Zack Brown, Ponce, Jankins, Medeiros, Perrin, Derby, and others on top of Woodruff, Burnes, Ortiz, Peralta, and Houser, the Brewers should not have to sign another Chacin-type free-agent starter for a long time.
  10. The Marcos Diplan we've been waiting 1.5 years for showed up tonight - 6 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 4 BB, 8K Zach Brown has gotten over his slow start and now has three consecutive starts with 1 ER or less - 7 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 6 K tonight The Grim Grieper with his 12th save so far, only a month in. Not the most useful stat, but I wonder what the minor league record is for saves in a season.
  11. I'm willing to give Phillips - or anyone for that matter who gets shuffled back and forth between the majors and AAA and doesn't get regular ABs - a pass. Wholly agree with your thought that Coles falls on the sword. Someone has to, and at this point it's a lot easier to switch coaches than switch players. Most of the guys who are doing bad now have done much better in the past, so there's reason to believe the players can do better.
  12. I'm picturing Orf as Stone Cold Steve Austin and Stearns as Vince McMahon, and Orf just said to Stearns, "If you can't hear me I've got some sign language for ya..."
  13. Not tonight. I'm guessing Knebel gets activated and Franklin DFA due to the short start. Orf will need to hold off until the bullpen gets rested.
  14. The bright side is that the Brewers may want extra bullpen help tomorrow, and might DFA Frianklin to make room for the guy.
  15. As a LHB vs RHP he has a career OBP of .293 and OPS of .685 There has to be another anticipated move soon that would entail DFA Franklin and he's here for just a couple of days. That's the only sense I see in bringing him up. I mean, Orf played a little OF last year and they said he looked surprisingly good, but this other anticipated move would require DFA Orf and they don't want to lose him.
  16. I just have to say that as someone who took a foul line drive off of his bat once, it should give me karmic satisfaction, but after watching the replay, I can't wish anything like that one anyone. I can think of a few people. https://youtu.be/dJEjlfBU7v0
  17. DHL. Not only is there no facility anywhere near me, they also don't give you a delivery window. Wish it was FedEx (6 blocks from my house) or USPS (4 blocks from my house).
  18. The elephant in the room is that the first three guys on that list combine for over $31M in salary. Think about what that could get the team.
  19. Orf has now hit in 17 straight games and 21 of his last 22. Kyle Wren's 9 game hitting streak was broken two day ago, but has reached base in every single game he's played this year and now sports a .417 OBP. Hiding in the shadows of Segovia's hot start is a very good start to the season for Orimoloye.
  20. I need to refinish my patio. Is it as simple as sanding it down and then applying the stain/sealant, or is there something else I need to do to remove the old paint/sealant?
