  1. He's 62-6 during regular season play with four losses against Michigan and two losses against Oregon. That's not winning?
  2. He brings a couple of QBs and some OL, WRs, and TEs with him? Even without Day, if they portal over Devin Brown/Lincoln Kienholz or they are stuck behind Sayin and Noland they might be looking for a new home, and both had interest in UW. Carson Hinzman also got benched late last year and is only playing now because of injuries to McLaughlin and moving one of their guards out to OT due to injury there.
  3. Depends on whether or not said players put their hands on the officers and/or accidentally struck them when swinging at someone from the other team.
  4. I'm not really sure if the issue is Locke, the WRs, or the scheme. Likely a little of all three. But I'm just not seeing many if any open WRs, and that suggests more of the latter two. I think a big part of Locke's struggles is that there just isn't anybody open, so he tries to make a play. Add to that the most perplexing thing I've seen - Nowakowski split out wide on 3rd down. Are you telling me that Nowakowski is one of your four best players at getting open? I find that really hard to believe. He's not tall and he's not fast, so why is he split out on 3rd down? On 1st or 2nd down, when he can motion back to the line and become a blocker, I could understand him being split out. But not on a passing down. And then we wonder why there aren't any receivers open. That's the playbook and the coaches. Every coach on the offensive side of the ball except for Blazek needs to go.
  5. The "microphone" comment is odd. Doesn't he have a speaker in his helmet to hear from the coaches? Does he think that he's the one telling the coaches what to do? I wonder if he's already tuned the coaches out. And the job of a NFL QB is to get everyone lined up. And also manage the game clock and play clock.
  6. Who is that sportscaster who went on a rant this past season about the Cubs "horse(bleep)" level of effort on defense and the base paths? Does he cover the Bears, too?
  7. Someone the music industry is trying to push on the public that nobody is willing to admit that they don't like, like Jellyroll and Bebe Rexha (who got booed at the Thanksgiving game in Detroit last year).
  8. And another HS QB, T.J. Edwards. The odd thing is that the LBs have looked the worst and Tressel is the ILB coach.
  9. Not hearing anything from any credible sources at this point about OC candidates. There has been lots of speculation about Gino Guidugli, the QB coach at ND who was Cincinnati's OC in 2022. The interesting thing about him is that Notre Dame's QB room is loaded. The backup this year has been Steve Angeli, but they also have CJ Carr, Kenny Minchey, and Tyler Buchner (who was their starting QB as a soph in 2022, but then got hurt and is backup WR/special teams this year). Carr had some interest in WI, and if he's stuck behind Angeli and Minchey maybe he might come with Guidugli. Or, maybe Buchner wants one last shot at QB for his last season of eligibility.
  10. They're on their 4th string QB I believe, maybe 5th string. Rising, Huard, and Wilson are injured.
  11. I believe they are on their 4th OL coach in four years. When every year they are told to do something different, it's somewhat understandable. They also only have 14 scholarship OL, with five of them true freshmen and at least one of the 9 non-true-freshment out for the season. Not a whole lot to choose from as far as their starting five.
  12. Johnsonville has one of those. Do they sponsor UW athletics?
  13. No, that's actually what happened with Guerendo.
  14. Three Brewers getting votes, two in the top 10.
  15. Some chatter about Carter Smith trending to UW today... fingers crossed.
  16. He's been injured most of the time. He was injured last year, and was listed as "Out" on the injury report the last couple of weeks. He may have gotten the Isaac Guerendo treatment and was told that if you're not available, you're of no use.
  17. Wisconsin flipped 4-star DE Jalen Williams from Michigan. Allegedly, Williams is close with QB Carter Smith, the Michigan de-commit who was also on an official at the Oregon game with Williams. Williams had been connected with UW before when Scruggs was the DL coach. Scruggs went to Michigan, but then resigned after getting arrested.
  18. Yeah, they only lost by 13 at Creighton who is ranked #15 now. Shot 40% from 3 against them and had 12 steals. Abdul Hakim had 26 and 11. Biggest difference is that they shot 82% from the FT line and 49% from the field against UW vs 60% and 43% vs Creighton. Nobody is going to want to see them in March.
  19. Much like the Chryst firing, it was as much about interpersonal skills and decision-making as it was on-field performance. It started with the Bicknell fiasco last year and bringing in an OL coach who clearly was not a good fit from the get-go. Add that to Braelon Allen's comments about lack of accountability, rumors of not getting along with other coaches, and philosophical differences with Fickell about the run game, and you have Longo just not being a good fit. The execution and improvement weren't enough to overcome those things. Chryst was fired more for half-arsing or just not doing parts of his job, coupled with bad decisions about OC hiring and recruiting, than he was for his record.
  20. Yeah, this has been brewing for some time. I think it's more about getting a head start on finding the right guy and "advertising the opening" than anything that happened last night. I don't think that anybody gets fired for scoring only 13 points against the #1 team in the nation with their backup QB.
  21. A few weeks ago Braelon Allen made some cryptic comments alluding to some type of dysfunction there and people not being held accountable. Methinks that and this are not unrelated.
  22. I don't think it was a lineman's gaffe. It looked to me like they called a QB draw; Locke tucked it and ran fairly quickly, but when the run wasn't there and he saw the open receiver he improvised. There were two OL downfield, strongly suggesting that they were the two who were instructed in the play call to wait 2 seconds, then charge downfield.
  23. So were all of the other receivers. Less than 1:30 remaining, at your own 25 yard line, in the pocket so can't throw it away without it being at a receiver or it's intentional grounding, and absolutely can't take a sack or a gain of little to no yardage and have the clock keep running. He tried to make a play with a receiver who was covered 1:1 and hope that the receiver can make a contested catch or draw pass interference. Not many options there. The defense defended it well and made two good plays, one by the DL to time his jump and get his hand up in the right spot, one by the other DL to turn around and find the ball.
  24. Oregon is 2nd in the nation in passes tipped/batted down at the LOS. They're coached very well to get their hands up at the right time.
  25. Tie game, 4th quarter, and if you're an official you need to keep the flag in your pocket unless it is an obvious penalty. No place for that call there. None.
