    Gomber I think would be a sneaky good acquisition. His overall numbers haven't looked good the last few years, but he's been much better away from Coors Field. The last two years his OPS-A has been much lower on the road, 3.68 road ERA last season, Not a big strikeout pitcher, but he can benefit from having the Brewers defense behind him.

    That's nothing to be concerned about. Just lessens the prospects they have to give up in return, can ask the Mets to kick in some cash to offset the option, and if Manaea continues to pitch well he will likely decline the option to try to get a multi-year deal.

    I'd do that deal, too. The Brewers also have two Competitive Balance picks to dangle, one #34 overall, if the Marlins want more flexibility to draft their own players instead (and the deal can get done before July 14th). Perhaps #34 could be used in place of Black ($2.7M slot value), #67 in place of Bitonti/another piece ($1.2M slot value).

    Between Mitchell and Black, there are multiple LH options internally that won't cost a prospect. One of them should work out. Collins is also an option for the infield, and his .389 OBP and almost equal BB:K ratio should translate fine to the majors. The need seems to be more for RH, specifically for Chourio in the OF. Okay at this point for Chourio to stay with the big league club until late July, but then go down for a month to work on things and then come back up in September. But a .257 OBP doesn't cut it in the majors; he can and should go down for a month or two.

    Got to listen to him on my way home from the Fox Valley today. Heard a new story about Tom Murphy and his identical twin brother, as Ueck went on a tangent about almost calling Pat Murphy Tom Murphy. Truly was a pleasure.

    And if Bellinger doesn't perfectly time his jump, the Brewers sweep. Just stay out in front and then pick up that starter in July.

    If the Brewers need bullpen help tomorrow, might be worth swinging a trade for the old "cash considerations" if they can get him to the ballpark in time and DFA White. Only threw 15 pitches yesterday, three days rest before that.

    Paredes only threw 11 pitches yesterday, so he should be good for 25 pitches tonight. Payamps threw 14 pitches so he should be good for an inning. Hopefully Paredes can get them to the 9th.

    Get 'em tomorrow. Maybe their starting pitcher won't paint the corners of the zone all night long. Again.

    In the event of injury replacement, are pitchers required to warm up entirely on the mound and not the bullpen? Seems like when they warm up on the mound they have a tendency to rush their warmup and then aren't sharp.

    It was in the middle of the plate but at the bottom of the zone. The Cubs pitchers have done a great job of hitting fastballs at the bottom of the zone and then either preceeding that or following it up with sliders/curveballs that start at the same location and then dropping out of the zone. Brewers haven't been able to guess correctly all night.

    Which he/she/they is. We've gone over this in another thread. Offers almost always contain non-disclosure clauses and rarely will a team allow you to shop around any offer. If Counsell did, he could get sued (never mind lose a tremendous amount of trust from ever owner for disclosing confidential information). Mark A. offered to make Counsell the highest paid manager in MLB. In no way, shape, or form is it his fault or could he have known that someone else chose to pay well above what was at the time top of the market.

    He's not really retiring "immediately". He hasn't worked a game since May 9th, and he and MLB have been negotiating a severance payout since.
