Problem is that this is a weak draft. I'd support it if they could do it, but the value of that 1st round pick isn't as much as it typically is. If they can't, and they came out of it with Scheierman or Tyler Kolek or DaRon Holmes at #23 and Boo Buie or Cam Christie or Pacome Dadiet at #33 I'd be happy. I know that Boo Buie wasn't invited to the combine and isn't on anybody's mock, but I think he can be a really solid player in the league. Made 43% of his 3's, 5 assists and 1.4 steals to 2.2 TOV last year. And the more I look into DaRon Holmes, the more I like him. 6'10", 236, started picking up a 3-point shot last year and made 32 of 83 (39%).

Hopefully O'Rae connects with Turang about what Turang did in the offseason to add ~25 lbs. Can definitely tell that Turang has a lot more muscle in his lower half than last year.

Anything can happen over three batters. Murphy (and others) can't pee his pants after three batters when they're still up 6-1. Should have let Hernandez pitch to a couple of more batters, then bring in Megill once the tying run gets to the plate.

I think a case could be made that a healthy Bucks team was the 2nd best team in the NBA last season. Problem is that they weren't healthy. And the best team was a juggernaut.

He's a shortstop - very few SS put up more than that whopping .744 OPS. Last year 56 players had 100 PAs at shortstop. Swanson's 104 wRC+ ranked 13th. His 4.7 fWAR ranked 7th. In 2022, 49 players had 100 PAs at shortstop. Swanson's 114 wRC+ ranked 7th. His 6.6 fWAR was #1 among all SS. He's easily a top-10 SS in all of baseball, top 15 just offensively, and top 10 SS make a lot of money.

Anything close to the Museum campus (Shedd, Field Museum, Soldier Field) will be expensive for parking, as will anything near Navy Pier. Speaking of Soldier, check to see if there is a soccer game or Northwestern Football game that day that will make parking even more expensive/harder to find. Similar to what homer said, download the Parking.com app (you literally have to search for "parking.com app" or "sp+ parking" in the app/Play store; it's a black letter "P" with a small red car inside of the "P"). Many parking lots in Chicago are owned by/affiliated with SP+, the company that owns the Parking.com app, and won't show up or are more expensive on Spot Hero. The lot at the Museum campus is owned by SP+ but may close at 6pm (museums close at 5pm). Don't plan on walking from Shedd to Navy Pier - it's a lot longer walk than you think (2 miles). And, personally, I think Shedd is overrated - the Field Museum is a much better bet. As far as vehicle safety goes, assuming you won't be parking there at 3am you'll be fine. During the daytime there is too much activity/too many people around where they would easily get seen/identified. I might recommend parking by Navy Pier, then Uber to Shedd and back. There will be a lot more people around Navy Pier after 6pm than the Museum campus for vehicle safety reasons. Nobody is down by the Museum campus after 6pm unless there is a night Bears game or a concert at Northerly Island.

I don't know if anyone here has had major surgery or even minor surgery but a doctor friend of mine said it's very common to have some numb/"dead" spots where the surgeries took place. It can take a while for that numbness/"dead spot" to go away, and often doesn't ever go away completely, so you have to develop a "feel" for something in a place where you may no longer have any feeling. That's part of the rehab process.

The problem is that both of them are RHH and thus redundant with Hoskins. And that being said, Hoskins, for his career, isn't bad against RHP - lifetime .816 OPS.

Right now Fangraphs has 44 first basemen with at least 100 PAs this season. Ranking by fWAR, Bauers is 21st, Hoskins is 23rd. Ranking by wRC+, Hoskins is 15th and Bauers is 22nd. Bauers is literally an average 1B so far this season. Hoskins slightly above average. Not a lot of guys out there who are significantly better (and who would be available).

Home plate to centerfield runs directly north-south, so you don't want to be in the upper deck on the 1st base side. Looks like all games are after 7:00pm so you should be OK anywhere really. I've been there once and enjoyed it. Pretty sure I bought off of the secondary market. There is a very high migrant and homeless population in downtown Denver. I'm hearing of people/businesses having to put large rocks/small boulders on open spaces to keep people from setting up tents. I wouldn't leave anything visible out in your vehicle (difficult with children), so be a little mindful of that where you park.

Since Attanasio bought the team the Brewers are 4th in the NL and 9th in MLB in total wins.

The odds are never going to be on the Brewers side. The Phillies are stacked, the Dodgers and Braves will always outspend, etc. They're going to have to get lucky, this year or any year. Thus the "bites at the apple" approach, and not pushing all of their chips in on any one season.

Can the rotation be similar to the 2015 Royals? Peralta is like Ventura, young and talented but inconsistent. Nobody else on that 2015 Royals staff averaged over 7.0 K/9 or had a FIP significantly under 4.00 (Volquez was 3.82). Just need starters to go 4-5 innings and then turn it over to a lockdown bullpen. I think the Brewers need one starter to get them to October, but it doesn't have to be a Verlander or Luzardo. Then in October, with Devin Williams back, you could have a 9-man bullpen of: RHP: Williams, Megill, Payamps, Peguero, Wilson LHP: Hudson, Milner, Koenig 9th man: one of Hall/Ashby/Uribe/Paredes depending on who is healthy and if the other team has more RH or LH batters. They have plenty of multi-inning relievers (Wilson, Hudson, Koenig, Hall, Ashby) that they could go 3 starters and then the 4th starter, if needed, could be a piggyback of Hall/Ashby + Wilson with each going only once through the order covering 4/5 total innings. They just need that one starter to get them to October.

I think Gomber is right up there on the Brewers list. His numbers away from Coors have been much better (3.68 road ERA last season, so not just a one-year flash in the pan), and he's not a big strikeout guy so having an elite defense behind him like the Brewers have would be a big benefit to him (as would moving to a much less expansive OF than Coors). He won't cost a ton, and I think he can be good outside of Coors and with the Brewers defense behind him. Seems like a prototypical Arnold acquisition.

That, and their SP depth is really thin right now. My guess is that they'll be conservative with pitch count on starters for the time being until some starters are ready to come off the IL so as to reduce the risk for any arm fatigue/injuries to the few healthy starters they have. I'm also guessing that a 6-man rotation is off the table due to lack of depth and racking up the number of times guys have been sent down, so they may be keeping pitch count low for starters so that they can have a 5-man rotation even if they have a stretch with no days off.

I think it's the job of the SS/2B to watch for the runner breaking from 3B and, if he does, to charge the throw, cut it off, and throw home. If it's a bad throw, they might not be able to charge the throw.

I'm suggesting that the Brewers have a lot of starters on the IL and, all else being equal, right now they need guys who can go 5 innings more than they need guys who can go 2 innings.

Shelter ticking down to 5.4% YoY. Insurance down 0.1% from prior month but up 20% YoY. Still the only two things that are driving inflation. Core goods and super core unchanged from prior month. Markets pricing >70% chance for cut in September (up from ~50% the day before) and a second cut in December (up from 50/50 the day before).

He's started 49 games in the majors and 142 games in the minors. Meeker has started 10 games in the minors, none this year.
