  1. Man. They couldn't have timed it any better for ESPN. Right after they flipped over.
  2. Spader killed it. He'll be the reason I continue to watch the show. Basically the only characters I can't stand are Kevin and Pam. Has anyone watched any of the new shows this year? They've been shockingly bad imo. Watched the New Girl last night and it was garbage. Whitney looked like the WOAT just from the previews, and it absolutely lived up to those expectations.
  3. I bet ya Ron's now wishing he didn't manage Monday night's game like a Spring Training game. Oof.
  4. I'd rather root for the team that has 18,000 apathetic fans at their games than a team with 40,000 obnoxious ones. I found their fans to be the most knowledgeable and accommodating group I've ever encountered after traveling out there in June. I hate even watching games on tv that are played at the Trop. Such a dump.
  5. Has Weeks hit a ball hard once since coming back? I've only watched a few games the past month, so I really have no idea if I'm just missing his good at bats, but he's basically looked like another pitcher up there. At this point I don't think he'll even be an asset during the playoffs.
  6. Weeks knows no other speed than full boat, so I hope we just wait until he's 100%, or close to it. I'd hate to see him reinjure the ankle running the bases. I found it interesting in the McCalvy article that his BP has been jaw-dropping for a couple weeks. He usually seems to do well coming of the DL and long layoffs, so wouldn't surprised me if he mashes in the playoffs.
  7. he's a lawyer /stalker edit: She's from Oshkosh and is married to a lawyer....RyDogg?
  8. isn't that more the fault of his carrier? I've owned quite a few phones and the iPhone gets the best reception out of any of them with an internal antenna.
  9. So she's nice looking, single, and has season tix?!?! Hmmm. Interesting. I think I'll go chat her up next time I'm at the game and then post a TR.
  10. I still think he's "throw stuff worthy". I just haven't had to actually throw stuff because we keep winning. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif A couple things a night he does are just straight up terrible, but we're just in a stretch where we can overcome anything right now and it turns out a lot of his bad decisions in hindsight have worked. Having 4 #2 starters and a shutdown reliever for the 7th, 8th and 9th is making his job an absolute breeze. He's definitely in the Scioscia and Madden mold of being a complete dolt but still getting positive results. Maybe being a players manager and having a good team is like 95 % of it and in game decisions is the other half.
  11. After how this entire year has went I'd be shocked if Green was part of any sort of postseason plans. We've had a myriad of reasons to call the guy up during the heat of a pennant race (McG sucking, Weeks getting hurt, Lopez being terrible) and it still seems there's always one guy ahead of him. If McG was to be lost for the season tonight to injury, my guess is they call up Gamel to play 3b. The FO just seems hell bent on going with guys with "experience".
  12. We should go trade for Thome now. We'll need him to DH for us in the WS.
  13. Wait, Odriscoll took back Hart's double and ruled it a two base error?!?! He's the worst, and should of been fired years ago. Off topic, but JJ hit two more HR's tonight. Man do I wish we never would of traded him.
  14. That little thing that JHJ just did hopefully earns him some more play time. A productive out has to be right up Roenicke's alley.
  15. I know where Braun grew up/played his college ball. And 5 or so guys = the approx number of current ML players who he keeps in touch with. Between you misunderstanding that and someone else claiming they disagree what someone told ME, I'm gonna have to say there's a disconnect on what my intentions are or some people don't take enough time to read posts. Someone mentioned that Braun is cocky. I figured I'd mention a few ancedotes I have heard from someone close to me that stays somewhat connected to the game. I'm sure Braun's gracious with the fans like someone else mentioned. He's a PR department's wet dream. The guy is a perfect model citizen and does the "athlete speak" as well as anyone. Now back to reading why Larussa is a knob. (edit: language --1992)
  16. Shows how dumb some people were to claim he was "hot" back in early July when he was filling in for Braun. It's sad he's our go to bench bat. I really hope we go out and get a Giambi, Thome, or Matsui for the stretch run. Call up Green and dump Kotsay and Wilson and we're all set.
  17. I have a close relative that played pro ball that has contact with basically all of the ML players that are from Wisconsin or played at the college level in WI from the last 20 yrs. They all pretty much say the same thing...he's a prick. That's all I know, but it's pretty much unanimous among 5 or so guys so I'm sure it's at least partially true. As for the people who work for them, I've had friends that work for/ have worked for the Brewers who said the same thing and just a had a client who was with the Brewers who said he was by far the biggest dick of all players. As I said before, I don't see it and frankly don't care. I just want players that I root for to be a)good b)abide by the law.
  18. Everything I've heard from players and people that are around the Brewers a lot is that Braun is cocky and major jerk, but like dlks9 said, it doesn't really show much. The only thing I see him do consistently is scream and yell when he trots around the bases after he hits a big home run. Didn't Yadi have a major freak out against us a few years back? I think he was behind the plate catching and disagreed with the ump and just lost his mind and left all his gear right on the plate. What a nut. Anyone with a neck tattoo is at least a little bit crazy.
  19. Maybe I'm out of the loop, but I still don't get it.
  20. "If there's something there, there's something there," pitching coach Dave Duncan said. "If there's not, there's not." Gee thanks, Yogi Berra.
  21. Yeah, he has to be on the list. The only thing I don't get is if he is on the list, what the hell are the Mets waiting for? I know they have Wright at 3b but he's been hurt and Green can play 2b too. I really hope he's not. I was expecting guys more on the level of Stetter/McClendon.
  22. Braun finds more holes than any other hitter I've ever seen. It's awesome.
  23. Since the break he's hitting .220/.319/.439/.758. A player like Weeks will have quite a few stretches like that in spans of ~50 PA's. .220 .319 .488 .807 Corey's stats since the break. He's been slightly better than Weeks, but yet there's a few posts a night complaining about how he's slowed down or been bad this year and nothing about Rickie.
  24. No it's not just you. He's definitely a favorite of Brian and Bill. And the media apparently, who somehow voted him team mvp last year. He's supposedly a really nice guy, but holy crap does it bug me too. IIRC, they were not nearly as sympathetic to Hall's season long struggles or Weeks' early in his career.
