  1. That's being incredibly short sighted on their end - because there will be other people that take those jobs who currently arent getting that extra (or any) unemployment - and then once the extra $500 weekly runs out for these other folks there wont be the same job for them to return to and jobs at different places wont be easy to find. I thought there was something in the legislation that businesses had to report whether people were offered their jobs back and refused, which may cancel that extra unemployment for those individuals? Not sure about that, though. This article says you cannot still receive unemployment benefits if you refuse to return to work. You need to have a documented health concern. https://www.inquirer.com/economy/called-back-work-unemployment-pays-more-coronavirus-20200505.html
  2. I have spent a lot of time in Home Depot and a lot of time in a bar and comparing the two is apples to oranges for me. The amount of contact with other people, the duration in the building, the ability to control behavior, etc are very different in my mind. We can agree to disagree. The issue isnt opening up. It is opening without a plan. Florida, Georgia, etc had fairly strict guidelines in place. The Supreme Court ruling and the lack of an agreed upon plan after the ruling was the mistake. The republicans thought there would be a stay so they could negotiate. They were wrong. Read their comments leading up to the decision. They were saying this would force the two sides to come together on a plan. Evers doesnt have to save face because the majority of Wisconsinites - almost 70 percent - approved of Safer at Home. He still had a 64% approval for how he is handling the virus and a 59% overall. I dont have a strong opinion on Evers but polling wise he is doing better than a few other leaders We'll disagree then because my Home Depot has been Walt Disney World during Christmas. Minimal masks, staff talking to people 6 inches from their face. The idea that the virus isn't a "threat" there is laughable. It also has 1000x the daily traffic of a local pub, which is really the major difference that would indeed make it "apples to oranges" - a big box with 3,000 hand prints a day is worse. FVF has discussed the flaws with polling, but the public support for Safer at Home has been declining quite rapidly. It would probably poll 50/50 by June 1. Makes sense if you have had a different experience than me. Home Depot has been really easy to navigate for me and people arent getting intoxicated there so they are a little easier to control I havent read the polls discussion. I will say when people dont like what polls say they say they are flawed. When they do like their results they trust them. But I completely agree that support will keep going down but there was also a very good possibility that Safer at Home restrictions were going to be loosened in the near future. Wisconsin has followed a similar path to Minnesota. It is hard to argue what they have decided to do - expand gathering to 10 and make a plan to reopen businesses June 1 with restrictions - isnt a whole lot better than what we are in right now which is chaotic and unclear because local governments are scrambling

  4. This. I just moved back to the Milwaukee area. Last night bars around me were at double capacity according to people who went out. Simply put this was the worst possible way to reopen. I think the time to slowly reopen had come. I think Wisconsin would and could have followed a similar plan that Minnesota rolled out yesterday allowing gatherings of 10 or less and reopening most businesses June 1st with regulations on occupancy and other things. That would have been sensible. Instead everything immediately opens up leaving businesses with bad choices and city and local governments with the task of trying to put restrictions back in place after they were temporarily lifted. The cities of Milwaukee and Racine have already stated they were putting restrictions back but bars were already full and now the animosity and anger of the people will turn to local governments who "took away their freedom" that they had just received. There was a better way to do this but partisan politics decided to run the show
  5. The talk from the top was reopen up but slowly and with regulations. Some in the party did say open everything but most was a slow roll out. But it seems like they thought the 6 day stay was a given. Now counties and cities will make their own rules
  6. 100 percent agree. This is a complete trainwreck of governing. I am probably more on the cautious side of this debate but I get the arguments on re-opening. But this isn't how it should be done. No regulations of any kind is foolish. The states that have re-opened had plans in place. They kept occupancy down in restaurants and bars. Instead Wisconsin lets everything just restart. The Republicans asked for a 6 day stay that would have at least given some time. No idea why the supreme Court struck that down too Yea, they can still pass a bill tomorrow to extend it 6 days, we'll see if that happens. Not really the court's place to get involved in that part of it. They can but not having that in place right away was foolish. It is like the gop thought that was a given. Every quote they had was that it would get reversed by the court and they would have a plan to reopen slowly. Instead we have a free for all around me right now. Bars opened up all over around me and I am right near Milwaukee. That is not a wise way to do this

  8. I could see a top 4 teams instead of top 8. Eliminating a whole round would definitely simplify things. But I agree it wont just be the finals. Bucks vs Heat Celtics vs Raptors Lakers vs Jazz Clippers vs Nuggets The NBA would be disappointed not getting Houston but it is still a very solid field and they get a likely Lakers vs Clippers match up and Bucks vs Celtics or Raptors. Very easy to market match-ups.
  9. Even if you don't love the funchess signing it is hard to be mad at those numbers.
  10. Is Funchess much different than a James Jones type guy? Bigger target. Good on the sidelines which Rodgers loves. Both had issues with drops. Jones also had a few years in the 50's for his catch percentage - playing with much more accurate qbs. Would adding a James Jones type wr to this team be a help? I would say definitely

  12. Are they paying his whole salary?
  13. Right now i feel better about where the Packers sit in the division. The Vikings have lost a ton of talent. They less cap space than the Packers and have added no new players. They still have all three starting cbs as free agents - Rhodes, Waynes, Alexander - the lost one d-lineman (Weatherly) and have two more who are free agents - Joseph and Griffen - and have lost their top wr from last year in Diggs - diva sure but he aeraged 18 ypc with Theilen missing a bunch of time - and they still dont have a Kicker and they offensive line is still terrible. The Bears lost a good ILB and added an old TE for too much money. Bridgewater would be better than Trubisky but he isnt a needle-mover and honestly they would have to clear a bunch of cap space to do it The Lions seem to be treading water. They have a ton of cap so maybe they make improvements The Packers got worse at RT but not a huge dropoff. The at worst are the same at ILB. They still have some cap to improve other place.
  14. I really wanted a tight end but once Henry got franchised and it became apparent Hooper would get 10 million plus then it seemed much less likely. Still would like a cheaper veteran but DT or WR seem more likely at this point
  15. Kirksey's deal is exactly why you wait to see the actual numbers before getting too excited. Initial numbers seemed high but looking at actual numbers it is a really solid deal.
  16. No I wasn't making an apples-to-apples comparison to their deals, I was comparing their 2019 numbers. Bucky said "But last year the guy hit .285/.343/.505/.849 with 22HR and 75 RBI. The guy isn’t a dud, it’s not like he’s Jason Heyward." My point was that Heyward had a better 2019 than Braun which would probably surprise some people. They had similar but switched years. Heyward started out hot and faded badly in the second half. Braun started out slow and raked the second half of the season. Heyward just adds defensive value. No doubt who the better hitter is though
  17. Badgers currently ranked 24 in AP and Coaches. Somehow they dropped from 27 to 30 in the NET rankings. Other computer rankings - Kenpom 24, RPI 32, BPI 25. All the rankings seem to say between 6-8 seed - bracket matrix has them between a 5 and 8 seed (actually pretty consistent 5 or 6 seed). They end with two very winnable games so I would say a 5-7 seed would then be likely depending on Big Ten Tourney results. That is pretty crazy considering where this team was at not that long ago
  18. Woodruff, Burnes, Peralta, Anderson, Lauer performing well enough to be the starters would be my ideal rotation by the end of the year. I guess Hauser could replace Anderson but I like Hauser as a multi-inning reliever with Suter, Knebel and Hader.
  19. Very few draft analysts even have him as the number 1 running back and I don't think I have seen him mocked in the first round anywhere in the last month I thought I saw on ESPN or the NFL Network with Taylor going to the Titans in the first round. I was at a bar so memory is a little fuzzy on that. I could have missed that. Just looked through about 10 and none had Taylor in the first round. Swift and Dobbins almost always going before him
  20. I don't think he will last until the 2nd round he will definitely go in the 1st round but it will probably be late. He should really be a top 15 player but he will go somewhere in the 20-28 range. Very few draft analysts even have him as the number 1 running back and I don't think I have seen him mocked in the first round anywhere in the last month
  21. Some team is going to get such a steal in the 2nd round when they pick Taylor
  22. At the current going rate for average starting pitching those two years could be a steal if he is just solid.
  23. Those 3 were 17-41 so they weren't great from the field either - Middleton was solid at 50%. The difference was more so the free throw shooting. They were 30-36 with Giannis going 7-8. That difference alone has them in the NBA finals last year. Bucks shot 38% from the field 33% while playing the second night of a road back to back and still won by double digits. This team is scary
  24. Over the next 21 games the Bucks play the Raptors 3 times, Celtics and Heat twice, Thunder, Nuggets, 76ers, Lakers, Rockets, and Pacers once - that is 13 games against the top teams. Should be a good test to see how this team is heading into the playoff. They have passed pretty much every test so far this year. What is a reasonable expectation over these 21 games - 16-5?
  25. I cannot think of a single way Bud gets fired unless it is something non-basketball related (arrest, etc). I feel like there should be even more excitement than there is around the Bucks right now. I know people are a little weary after how they lost last year but they played about as bad as they had late 4th quarter leads in 3 of the 4 losses. The Raptors on the other hand had all their role players step up. Middleton had 14, 6, and 9 in 3 of the losses. That isnt happening again
