  1. If just for a series Broxton looks like he has found his swing.
  2. 7 of the top 60 from the White Sox. That is pretty impressive
  3. No, they're not. In terms of how they are currently playing of course not but over the season the Brewers definitely are better than the Twins. Look at run differential. The Twins have gotten hot and that is what matters but they have really bad pitching staff all the way around with the exception of santana.
  4. So much complaining about Hader considering he didn't give up a run
  5. I understand what you're saying, but at this point he really doesn't command any of his pitches. Take some velocity away by asking him to throw 100 pitches instead of 30 and I could see him getting hit hard. He certainly can still do it, but improved command is a must. He may not be a starter but he needs to prove he can't is my main post. I mean we run Garza, Guerra, Suter, etc out there so we can probably afford to give Hader some run (next year not this)
  6. I just don't understand why people are so quick to right off Hader as a starter. I feel like you have to let a guy fail as a starter before moving him to the pen. Hader has not failed. And if he does become a reliever Counsel needs to commit to him as a multiple inning reliever until it is apparent he can't do that. His WHIP is almost done to 1. Over a strikeout per inning. Obviously the walks need to come down but guys struggle to get good contact against him.
  7. After a great first start Quintana has been pretty average. 6, 6 and 5 innings with 2, 3, and 6 earned runs. 17 innings and 11 runs. Small sample size though and he has been striking people out. But not going deep in games.
  8. How about no walks tonight Corey? Stay away from the heart of the order and then let Brinson hit a walk off
  9. Really? They robbed a home run and made nice plays on numerous line drive hits by the Brewers. Quintana did a great job minimizing damage but the Brewers had a ton of runners in scoring position the first few innings.
  10. In his last 15 starts Sonny Gray has allowed 5 earned runs once, 4 earned runs once, 3 runs 3 times and 2 or less 10 times. If that is a number 3 starter then we are in great shape. His biggest negative is he doesn't seem to go deep in games averaging just over 6 innings a start over that span. However just being able to face a pitchers spot a couple times a game could help that a little. I would definitely do a Ray, Ortiz type deal. Can't see why Oakland would. Philips Ortiz would be harder but I would probably say yes. No on anything involving brinson
  11. If Guerra was still good/healthy and Anderson was healthy maybe one could feel better about our rotation but there is no doubt a Nelson, Gray, Anderson playoff group is a lot better than adding the Guerra, Davies or Garza as the last of the 3. That said I don't want to trade Brinson or Hader so there is probably no way to make this deal. Gray gives the Brewers a rotation of Nelson, Gray, Anderson, and then guys like Burnes, Hader and Woodruff can battle Guerra and Davies for that last spot so that would be nice.
  12. Guys I don't want to trade Brinson, Hader and Burnes. Fine with anyone else in the right deal
  13. The Brewers are now guaranteed the division lead at the break The Brewers are closer to the Nationals then the Cubs are to the Brewers The Brewers are just two back of Colorado who is the last wild card team The Brewers run differential is better than the Cubs, Cards, and Rockies combined.
  14. His Ops is .773 with a babip of .339. His babip may be a little high but with his speed it could easily stay high. Not to mention he is only 22 so there is a very good chance he improves his walk rate a little. His walk rate jumped significantly from march/April to the past two months. I have no idea if Arcia can become an .800 OPS guy but the way people are acting like it isn't going to happen does seem to factor in a few things. One being age. Another being his improvement as he has gotten comfortable. His power has been better than many thought it would be.
  15. True but he also beats out a lot of grounder in the infield so he conceivablicould sustain a higher babip. Lately his hits have been hard hit balls. And while he might be lucky now he will also improve as a hitter and get stronger so there is plenty of reason to believe he could see his babip drop and still have an ops near 800 His GB rate and Hard Hit rate are about the same over the last 42 games as they are for the whole season. He might be able to have a higher BABiP but not 400+ Of course. But his high babip is what gets him a 900 OPS. the question is could he sustain an 800 OPS down the road and I think he definitely could. As he matures a little more power will come. He is growing as a hitter going opposite field more (at least that is what announcers tell me). Arcia doesn't need to sustain the last month to be a star. With his glove and OPS near 800 would be more than enough.
  16. One thing I love is that this team has battled injuries and some under performing players and has never made excuses. Guerra missed a bunch of time and hasn't been right since he got back. Braun has missed a bunch of time. Villar has missed time and hasn't performed when healthy. Anderson is currently out. Woodruff who was supposed to be the 6th starter got hurt. Garza missed time. Thames has been nicked up. I spent the weekend with Cubs fans and they kept bringing up injuries as to why they are behind the Brewers. Now I am sure they have had more injuries (I dont follow closely enough) but the Brewers have had their own issues but they keep plugging away. This team is 3rd in home runs and stolen bases in all of baseball. If anderson can come back like he was pitching he and Nelson are a formidable pair. We need to hope Guerra can right the ship too.
  17. True but he also beats out a lot of grounder in the infield so he conceivablicould sustain a higher babip. Lately his hits have been hard hit balls. And while he might be lucky now he will also improve as a hitter and get stronger so there is plenty of reason to believe he could see his babip drop and still have an ops near 800

  19. Imagine if he doesn't get robbed of that 3 run home run in Cincinnati. Vogt is sure seeing the ball well right now.
  20. No to butler. Just don't like the fit. The offense needs to run through Giannis and Butler will want it to run through him. Yes to Prozingis. That would be a terrific fit. He would open up the court a lot. I am not sold on Parker so if the Knicks wanted Parker in a deal for prozingis I would do it so fast.
  21. We should probably change the title because I think there are going to be a whole bunch of plays from Arcia that look like some of the best we have seen.
  22. carlos gomez in 2013. Thanks. I thought there was someone this decade. Should have taken the time to look it up. Just looked and we have had one since 1982. Hopefully Arcia can add a few more.
  23. Aria has put up a line of 308/361/792 in June. Total he is up to 267/312/698. Even if he splits the difference between those two lines the rest of the year that is more than enough hitting for how well he plays the field. Maybe he was rushed a year. Maybe we will have to pay him a year too early. However all that I know is he has seem to become acclimated to major league pitching now and is a key part to a first place team. If they called him up a year later would have he still had a learning curve to get used to pitching this level. I don't know what the best fielding stats are but I know many of them have arcia at or near the top. Who are the gold glove favorites in the NL? When was our last gold glove win
