  1. Is Furcal that good of a defensive SS? I know he made some big plays against us but he made a lot of errors in St. Louis as well. He did not receive a single vote for top 10 SS in the Fielding Bible this year (12th in 2010 and 15th in 2009). Probably the wrong place for this discussion
  2. Link to his BABIP in 2010. Since 2001 Ramirez has batted under .272 twice. Both times he BABIP were .241 or lower (it was .241 in 2010). Bill James has line at .285/.350/.500. That would look close to last year and really good
  3. Sure it is more likely but it doesnt make as good of story.
  4. This is being discussed in the rumors forum as well, but here seems like a good place. Did 1250 say he wants a trade or they thought this was a sign he would? Right now the speculation that he wants a trade is because he asked for a trade the last time he switched. He could easily just want a different agent to negotiate what will be a big contract for him coming up. If he does want a trade that stinks
  5. They were linked to Ramirez before the weekend. If anything it is desperation to replace part of Prince's bat. Has nothing to do with Braun, because Ramirez could have signed last week with the way the Brewers were going after him
  6. So, if he is guilty, you then think Braun just started doing this and that he is alone in doing this? Sorry, but I can't follow that logic........ What? I dont understand what you are trying to say. Do you think I am implying Braun is the only guy who is doing steroids in baseball? No one thinks baseball is clean so baseball suspending a big name player shows they are serious about it. Yeah it could look bad that Braun hasnt tested positive before but right now in the eyes of the public Braun is definitely the villain not MLB. We arent going to change each others mind. You think his group leaked it and there is no way MLB did that. I think you are wrong. Lets let it go
  7. I am guessing 3 years 32-36 million. I am happy with the signing and as long as there is a no trade clause he will be a guy we can trade if it comes to that.
  8. No it doesnt. It shows how serious they take the testing and that they dont let anyone slide. Buster Olney (i think) had a huge article on how this showed the mlb in a positive light because they take this stuff seriously. I can get past my Braun and Brewers fandom. I assume he is guilty (hope he isnt) but your view makes not sense to me. You can call it blind-fandom. I call it logic and reasoning
  9. Even if that's the case, I would still bet on it being from Braun's circle rather than MLB's. I'll say it again, it's far worse for MLB to have this get out - makes the entire minor league testing look like a joke. I guess we will have to agree to disagree. This is far worse to Braun in my eyes. He will now be guilty to everyone outside of Milwaukee (and if this thread is an indication most in Milwaukee as well) the rest of his career. There is no win for him.
  10. If Furcal gets two from someone there is no way Ramirez is getting less than 3. Heck Rollins wanted 4-5. Three years in not that long of a contract.
  11. Or he wants a different agent as he signs the biggest deal of his career.
  12. [quote author=pebadger wrote: [/b] MLB has been officially silent because they need to be. They can't officially speak to this matter in violation of their own confidentiality agreement. Whoever leaked this spoke out of school. It makes no sense for Braun to leak this if they are putting up a good faith defense that, if successful, would mean that nothing was ever revealed in the first place. The more likely explanation is that Braun's people are only speaking now because they feel they have to respond. The alternative is to let the simple narrative "Braun failed a test, therefore he's a doper" to stand unchallenged and be repeated, ad nauseum. Agreed there is almost zero win for Braun releasing this and MLB cant talk. It seems more likely someone had some juicy gossip and felt like they had to tell someone. Who knows what they got as a result of leaking the story. I hope the truth comes out (whether he is guilty or not) and I hope the person who leaked this is discovered and fired.
  13. Funny, I was just thinking the same thing. If you take a step back, that seems a lot more likely considering MLB has never leaked one before.Really? I see no reason why a player would leak a test result like this. The only people who think Braun is innocent are a handful of Brewer fans and his family and friends. He is guilty in almost everyone else's eyes. I see no logical reason to do this. Fans support the testing for steroids so Braun isnt winning any sympathy from fans. Even if he gets cleared he is guilty in most people's minds. Leaking it would have been an incredibly stupid idea and I am pretty sure they would have said banned substance instead of PED if they leaked it. One thing I would like to know is the date Braun heard about the test result. Not for any insight into whether he is guilty but because there was a point where he looked like he had no focus at the plate whatsoever in the St. Louis series. He had been dialed in before that. I wonder if the test hurt his focus. It could have been fear because he had been caught or frustration because he thought he was innocent, but he definitely did a 180 hitting in that series
  14. Can someone with a knowledge of this stuff explain how odd it is for Braun's levels two be twice as high as anyone ever tested? What does that mean? Did he inject himself while taking the test?
  15. I was thinking the exact same thing last night. They sit on the Fine thing but ran this like they did
  16. I'd have to disagree here. He's once again late to the party and only getting sound bites cause he's the local guy.He is "late" to the party because he is checking with his sources. He has been all over this since word got out. What type of story was he supposed to run at first? Should have he just copied what ESPN said?
  17. Yeah it seems like the espn report would negate a masking agent, but i guess I dont know
  18. Yep for as much negativity as he gets on this board (and by me sometimes) he has done a great job with this story. He is actually getting facts and sources from both sides.
  19. Braun may be innocent. He may be guilty. The rush to judgment is appalling. It's also totally expected, which to me is even more appalling. The PED claim already is in question but sadly it is posted all over the web. Every major sports site is saying ped use, but according to some here we have to believe ESPN
  20. Looks like this could take a while. Tom H latest post. Sounds like MLB is shocked by this too. Tom has done a great job with this
  21. While the McCarthy reference was over the top. The idea that people are believing Braun blindly is ridiculous. He could be guilty but with the stuff that came out the people who accused him of using PED's already look wrong.
  22. So now you are hoping Braun's camp confirmed testing positive and claimed they would prove his innocence even though MLB didn't find that he tested positive? OK, there is some serious denial taking place. Don't know what else to say about this... they confirmed he tested positive for elevated testosterone. Neither braun's camp nor MLB has confirmed what the cause of it was, or when the followup negative test occurred (and what that means relative to the first test). Is it probably going to come back that Braun was doing/taking something he shouldn't have? Very very probable. But until the appeals process is through and a suspension is (or isn't) handed down, we don't have the whole story. Some may call that denial, some may call that (false) hope. it is what it isI agree with this completely. I am sick of the people saying that some of us have to consider Braun a cheater without hearing his side of it. Is it more likely he is guilty than it is that he is not? Sure, but I can wait for it all to play out and that doesnt mean I am in denial.
  23. Of course they would. What is wrong with giving the guy on the team your root for the benefit of the doubt? Braun adamantly claims his innocence and calls the results bs. I will wait to hear his side of it. I would rather give him the benefit of the doubt then starting to rip him right away if it turns out he was innocent. Below is Braun's quote.
  24. Seriously?Oh he is serious. Logan has never liked Braun. He likes a couple Brewers.
  25. That is the crazy thing though. Braun is anything but an idiot. There are tons of MLB players who seem more likely to do something stupid and get caught than him. If he used Braun seems like the guy who would be well ahead the testing system. I am not saying Braun wouldnt use steroids but if it is as easy as you say it is to not get caught, he seems like the kind of guy who wouldnt get caught. He is a really smart guy and values his image a lot
