Yes, the court of public opinion sucks sometimes. I think people condemned him because of some of his off the wall (or over the wall) actions on the field. There are things that are said in the press and even on message boards in speculation. Heck, if somebody posts an opinion on a blog, there are major news services that will quote that as fact. Pick a little - talk a little (except using the Internet... so it would be type a little?). The accuser should not get off. I understand why Bauer wants this to be over.

Andrew Monasterio's performance probably played a big factor.

One thing that works for the Deer district is that it is downtown. People can walk not only to the Fiserv forum, but to the restaurants there. Why? Because there are enough condos, apartments, and campuses (MSOE and Marquette) nearby -- people live there. Am Fam field is still, sort of, in the middle of nowhere with the buffer of parking lots to help isolate it. To have an entertainment district, there would need to be something similar to that at the Drexel Town Square in Oak Creek. You have to get people who will be living nearby. That and have a lot more restaurants, etc. that people will want to go to. Maybe there needs to be some more white collar businesses in the vicinity, too. Imagine what could be if there was a real light rail system in Milwaukee. The Hop is, well, a bit of a joke. From what I recall, the Metro in Minneapolis gets people to Target Field, US Bank, etc. quickly and easily (I can certainly be wrong there). So... throwing spaghetti on the wall in a brainstorming capacity... Take some of the area around Am Fam to create condos / apartments Build something that will have well-established businesses move down there to get people into that district Provide a better mass transit solution to get in and out of that area. Put in a hotel or two and have events on a regular basis within Am Fam field in the offseason. There are plenty of meeting rooms, etc. where they can have larger events. Create a covered walkway from the above items to Am Fam so people can walk from the hotels to the stadium in the winter. Not sure if these are good ideas or if they are even feasible.

I saw that too, but wasn't really surprised. There are some blueblood brands that will trump relationships. Duke is one of them. Oh well.

Apart from his "Prime" schtick, he says the right things. I was not going to watch the 60 minutes interview, but ended up watching. The line to me was something similar to, "I don't only want them to success on the field, but off the field and in the classroom." We will see how long that goes. I am pulling for him to be successful as a coach and leader of young men.

I don't remember after which play early in the third quarter I heard this, but the offensive finally got lit up. Lots of f-bombs from the coaches. They finally played smarter after that.

I got to sit towards the bottom on the home side in the game against Ga. Southern. I observed a few things I thought were interesting. Braelon Allen was in the medical tent before the game. I had heard rumors that he had tweaked something during the week and he did get additional tape before the game. I believe that is why he was not in the first series and why he didn't get as many carries early in the game. I am not sure that Mordecai has good chemistry with his receivers. There was one time in particular where Williams must have not run the right route and you could hear Mordecai yell at him. The next play, Williams was wide open for a 5-7 yard hook on the right side, and Mordecai threw into coverage instead. Back to Mordecai -- I believe chemistry is one big reason why the passing game isn't what we are expecting. Also, there are things that are clear from the 12th row over and over and over and he either doesn't see it, or chooses not to hit the easier routes. Actually, I don't recall seeing Mordecai sitting with the other quarterbacks at all (that was literally right in front of us). This might carry to communicating with the receivers, too. I can't say for sure. I would like to see Mordecai keep the ball on the quick handoff option. He could have run for another 100 yards if he did. The defensive backs do not talk. They do not "hand off" receivers. They do not anticipate the quick pass because they know they are going to get beat deep. If they are defending, they rarely look back to the ball. I think the last part was evident on TV. The turning point was indeed in the 3rd quarter when one of the coaches finally yelled at the offensive line: "You need to get your F****** S*** together." I do not think that Tressel has his guys prepared at the beginning of the game. Sure -- they made adjustments at halftime, but what is going to happen against OSU, Illinois, or <gasp> Minnesota? I understand Tressel has his system and "needs his guys," but an exceptional Defensive Coordinator would be able to adapt his defense to the personnel he has. The jury is out for me, but consider me unimpressed and uninspired. All in all, it was a lot of fun on Saturday.

It isn't like his swing suddenly "got weird." Perhaps they were OK with him moving his hands all over the place as the pitcher is delivering the pitch. That is why they are there, and I'm sitting in a chair posting on Brewerfanatic 😉

I was wondering if the surface might have had something to do with the injury. MetLife Stadium has Fieldturf. However, M&T Bank Stadium, where Dobbins was playing, has a natural Bermuda grass. Freak injuries for both.
