It appears that it is also coming from third world countries from which the materials are being mined. It seems a little disingenuous to disregard the mining effects. Oil companies are willing to look the other way to make sure they are getting what they want. EV companies and its subsidiaries do that, too. I would agree, though, that it isn't to the extent of the oil companies.

This is not hitting at a very good time, either. The city of Milwaukee is going to have a sales tax increase of 2% at the beginning of 2024. Milwaukee County is going to have a .4% increase at the same time. That means the sales tax in Milwaukee will be 7.9%. Yes... I know that the tax rate for Wisconsin as a whole is one of the lowest in the country (Taxfoundation.org), but it is a 40%-ish increase. For me, I do not mind paying a tax for the stadium, but it is only for the stadium. Why can't there be something one in that area to be more beneficial? I understand the huge amount of asphalt for tailgating, but how many people really tailgate? Maybe 1%? Take the land east of the river and make it more useful. Combine that and make it a stadium "district" instead of simply the stadium.

Love the article. I was trying to find some video of Turang's swing when he was struggling. There are a few things that are biproducts of a high leg kick: timing and a "not-quiet" head. It takes an exceptional athlete to be able to have a high leg kick and still keep his hands back for the off speed pitches. The movement on the balls from the pitchers is crazy and the goal has to be to get the bat on the ball. In the videos above, I noticed that Turang was keeping his hands in a relatively good plane when he gets to toe touch. Although he starts his hands higher, he gets them to the same place without too much hand movement. I have a feeling he was lowering his hands a lot and that is why the coaches had him keep his hands higher. That would also hurt with the high 4-seam fastball (as you mentioned). He doesn't take his hands behind his body on his load which allows for a quicker path to the ball. He also isn't wrapping the bat around his head on his load. Making more efficient movements with less unnecessary movement. Square up the ball consistently instead of trying to get a 120 exit velo each time. So the big question is: are these changes being made at the minor league levels and then being hosed up at the major league level?

Perhaps Counsell realizes that he needs to get better bats in the lineup. Frelick has been hitting better lately. Canha was hitting better than a lot of the Brewers were -- including Wiemer.

I will be stoked when charging a vehicle can be done in minutes instead of 10's of minutes. Of course, as I get older, it takes me longer to "take care of business" at a rest area. So, maybe it won't be a big deal for me. 😉

Why do some players go to the minors after and injury while some do not? Would Tellez benefit from a week at AAA? It would give him a chance to get some live ABs not at the MLB level so he can get back into a rhythm offensively. It would be a rehab assignment instead of an option, wouldn't it?- 12 replies

Hello Milwaukee Taxpayers: We need more tax money at the Fiserv Forum so we can pay for a new LCD floor. If the Brewers scoreboard "needs" to be replaced every 5-10 years, how does that fare for this? Not going to work well at facilities that have Basketball and Ice Hockey, I would think. On the positive side -- have custom spots outside of the 3-point line for 4, 5, 6 pointers. NBA Jam: HE'S ON FIRE!!!!!

If I read this correctly, he is under control for one more year: Spotrac I know the Brewers cheesed Burnes off last year in arbitration. Do you try to sign him to an extension now? Maybe 5 years / 125M? That is 25M per year and gets him until he is 33. I'm guessing the Brewers don't have that much cash, though.

I'm expecting to see an offense that is very different than what we have seen in the past. I will be happy if the Packers go 10-7. The offense will struggle to start off the season and people will question LaFleur's coaching ability to the point where they will be calling for a new skipper. Love will be fine, but he will be able to work within the offensive scheme instead of directing the scheme. My feeling was that Rodgers was all about "my way or the highway." I don't think I will pick up Love on my Fantasy Football team. Jones or Dillon? Maybe.

Great article. I think we could do better than Ryan Noda. He is a rookie and has lots of control which is a positive. Quick reality check... this isn't "MLB: The Show" Nobody is going to offer more than 2 tier 1 players for him. This board, among others, have been clamoring for the "Cy Young" Burnes. Well, he has been pitching like that during his last handful of starts. So, let's trade him while he's hot? I'm excited about the season again -- especially with Yelich being all-star worthy. Build the foundation of solid starting pitching. Burnes is the cornerstone. Let's get another solid bat and another bullpen arm. Get into the playoffs and do some damage.

The problem is that mainstream outlets will use bloggers as source material. Journalism is nothing like it used to be. How many times do we see misspellings on the crawlers in local and NATIONAL news outlets. It would be interesting to be in Jim Hoyt's journalism class now. It was, at least, interesting 30 years ago.

Toyota is also spending a lot of $$$, I mean ¥¥¥, using hydrogen cells. I have seen videos on how there is an infrastructure in parts of California. It is interesting how the media doesn't address that much.

To be honest, I did a little searching and didn't see anything like this. After last night's meltdown, it got me thinking about how much better Hader + Williams was. Williams has been lights out this year and he certainly would not have many saves if Hader was still around. It also doesn't address how tired the bullpen was -- that might have been solved with having one less starting arm and one more bullpen arm... but I digress. For fun, I thought I would see how the Hader trade has panned out so far. Recall, it was: Padres receive Josh Hader Brewers receive Robert Gasser (minors), Dinelson Lamet, Taylor Rogers and Esteury Ruiz. Hader: 0-1; 18 Saves in 31 appearances. ERA of 1.21. 29.2 IP, 45K .944 WHIP Gasser: AAA Nashville; 5-1 4.00 ERA; 74.1 IP; 1.251 WHIP; 87K; 2.9 K/BB Lamet: Put on Waivers and picked up by the Rockies 4 days after the trade Rogers: Currently with San Francisco; signed as a free agent on 12/28/22; had a 5.48 ERA in 24 appearances with Milwaukee Ruiz: Currently with Oakland; 3 games with the Brewers in 2022; was part of the trade where the Brewers received William Contreras and Joel Payamps. Not sure how Gasser will do. Happy with Contreras and Payamps. Would we say it was a push as far as who won this trade... so far?
