  1. So, he changed his mind? https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/28250065/wisconsin-rb-jonathan-taylor-plans-play-bowl-game
  2. Ok... new topic... Driving on the freeway last night and a Milwaukee County Sheriff tailgates behind people who were already going 10 MPH over the posted limit. No hazard lights or anything like that. Once people move over, the officer goes probably 75 or 80 and eventually gets off at the main station at Watertown Plank Road. My son who just got his license was confused. I am also confused. If I did that, I would be pulled over and written a citation. Likewise, I drive officers who are in motion checking out their computer display. I guess if I get something like that in my car and use it for texting, it wouldn't be texting? What do yooz guys think?
  3. At least he scored more votes than Dobbins.
  4. All y'all is the plural of y'all. C'mon now.
  5. I had gone to Montgomery, Alabama for training. I went out to dinner and the waitress used "y'all" in a sentence. I was curious about something, so I asked her: "Is y'all singular or plural?" She looked at my like I was seriously off my rocker...
  6. Even if the above happens, there is no way the Badgers get in -- even if the Badgers win 70-7. If Georgia loses, their losses will be to LSU in the championship game and to South Carolina. That would be compared to losing to OSU and to Illinois. And... Georgia name recognition > Wisconsin. If Baylor wins, they have one loss to Oklahoma... whom they will have just beaten. Since Oklahoma name recognition > Wisconsin, Baylor gets in.
  7. I have had three girls play softball -- all of which are adults. I also have a son who is a sophomore. I have coached all four kids at one point or another. There are similarities and differences. Our youth girls program wasn't very strong and was too far behind the times to have a travel team. All three played for a club team instead of a tournament team. Our son played on the community travel team until 8th grade and now plays for an academy team. 1) Tryouts. Typically tryouts are held in the fall. This is to line up practices, fundraising events, etc. 2) Cuts. For our son, we had two teams until 7th grade. The roster was going to be only 14 or something like that, so cuts needed to be made. There might have been enough for another team, but nobody stepped up to coach. 3) A&B teams. This goes back to #2. My personal opinion is that kids just need to play -- especially at the age groups you mention. If you stack a 10-year-old team with the best players, then the players on the "B" team will lose interest. The key is to get the teams in a league / tournament that fits their skill level. Believe it or not -- college coaches are not looking at kids that age, so winning isn't the only thing (although it is nice). As I mentioned, we had two teams in 5th and 6th grade and the talent was as evenly distributed as it could be. Team 1 won some tournaments and team 2 won some others. The thing that gets some people worked up is who is coaching each team. As an example, let's say Billy's dad played college ball and is going to coach team A. (Most) Everybody's parents are going to want their boy to play for team A. Your club needs to have a program that all of the boys learn from -- whether on team Green or team White (no A or B ). 4) We are from the southeast side of Milwaukee. From what I remember, Whitnall has a nice tournament and some nice fields. There was a nice tourney in Oconomowoc at Pabst Farms. Greenfield has a nice youth baseball tournament at Alan Kulwicki park. The Rock pulls in more competitive teams and is probably more expensive. I hope that helps. The one thing I learned is that the kids, whether boys or girls, need to have fun playing. If they enjoy playing, they can put in more time as they get older. They may be on fire in 8th grade, but could get burnt out in high school. Have fun watching them play because there will be some awesome memories.
  8. Thanks Baldkin... this is exactly what I'm looking for. I nice cheap gift for somebody to get me for Christmas...
  9. Note to Hamels: the Brewers do not have a rivalry with them.
  10. I'm wondering if they aren't looking to extend Yelich by clearing out some salary. Braun will be coming off the books pretty soon...
  11. I think they can do that with the Wildcat but not with Coan. Or maybe that's what you meant. Yes... and no. With Coan, there is a chance where he could run for a few yards. If Cruickshank is in there, write off any passes... unless there is really something up their sleeve. I haven't seen Cruickshank throw one pass and don't have much faith in that.
  12. Taking it a step further --- I have a nice Onkyo receiver that does not have Bluetooth. Any suggestions for something that plugs into the "aux" port that would receive Bluetooth or some other suggestion?
  13. Milwaukee will have the most one-year Free Agent contracts while David Stearns is at the helm.
  14. Read option. Hopefully that will make them less predictable. They have been trying to incorporate it into the offense lately. Not sure how well it will go.
  15. Regarding PJ Fleck -- a couple / six pages back... I'm not a Goofer fan -- not in the least. However, I am impressed by what Fleck has done in two years at Minne-ha-ha. He took players that sucked, and had them ranked in the top ten within two years. Is he over the top? You bet -- the stunt he pulled at Iowa as wayyyyyyyyyyyy over the top. Listen to how his players talk about him. They say he is their best friend, somebody who cares, etc. I'm sure other coaches have the same type of effect on the kids, but it seems like Fleck's might be a little more genuine (???). How many times have we heard "move the drill" stories when somebody would get hurt. While the Gophers would move the drill, I think Fleck would take more of a vested interest in his players than most coaches. I have some relatives that are close to the program that have shared stories about how Fleck is a good guy. Bottom line -- Fleck cares about his kids and isn't afraid to show it on... and off the field. I think the Gophers might have turned a corner. Hopefully, Wisconsin can stay one step ahead.
  16. In advance: [sarcasm]"Ok, Boomer" is going to be an instant hit![/sarcasm]
  17. In regard to stock prices -- I don't recall when Disney Plus was announced. July 3, NFLX was at 379.93 a share. Now, it is at 289.18. I bought Netflix at $10 and sold at $15 back in like 2004. I'm smart. Any insights on Orange Crop Futures? http://www.ruthlessreviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/trading-places-6.jpg
  18. We have three kids in college (one still in HS). Over 25 years ago, we decided to invest in two areas: our retirement and also for our children's education. We pay for 1/2 of our kids' college education? Why half? The goal is to have the kids learn how to value a dollar by working towards their education. It also helps them to choose careers in which the are passionate and will allow them to a job right out of school. So, we have one future pharmacist and two nurses (hopefully). In my experience, I have seen many cases where kids had their higher education paid for by their parents, etc., and they would party all the time, and not really care about their education. Of course, there were those that still valued the education. A friend of mine told his children that they have to fully pay for the first year of their education. After that, he would pay for all of it. That seemed to work well, too. My dad, a boomer, was a teacher in a small school district in rural Wisconsin. My mom chose to stay at home to care for my brother and me. Many times, we had powdered milk and powdered eggs. I also remember wearing bread bags in my shoes during the winter. We had very little money and my parents gave me nothing towards my education. Every summer, I worked and didn't have a social life. I didn't want the same type of experience for my kids, so we are meeting them half-way in a manner of speaking. It helps my wife is a Financial Adviser, too Regardless of financial status, my Boomer parents taught me to work my ass off. I have to go out and earn things. I have tried to teach my kids that same ethic whether it is in school, playing softball / baseball, or life. Seems like it is working so far, thankfully. Story at 10... film at 11...
  19. I'm still miffed Wisconsin doesn't have a baseball team.
  20. Well done...
  21. Either way, Garrett crossed the line. Pouncey got what he deserved as well. Rudolph should get a game (Steelers might be better as a result ).
  22. Had no idea what this was about either, so had to google it. But, eh...seems like a reality show with a lot of over the top made for TV drama. Link to Meme Origin
  23. In regard to stock prices -- I don't recall when Disney Plus was announced. July 3, NFLX was at 379.93 a share. Now, it is at 289.18.
  24. The coach might have a case for Defamation. I have a feeling he wants to get this behind him. Both parties have been through enough.
  25. We don't know how many attorneys the father contacted before Kahn, Sinnis and their firm accepted the case. Since the case was based on negligence, the question wasn't whether it was responsible to accept the case, but whether the case could be won. The firm had been involved in another high-profile case and it is reasonable to assume that they saw similarities between the two cases. From a certain point of view, the plaintiff had a point -- at least one juror thought so. Thankfully, the defendant won. Otherwise, the one girl who tore her labrum diving back to second base, the boy who misjudged a fly ball and got hit in the eye, or the girl who took a line drive off the face and ended up in the ICU because she refused to wear a face mask while pitching would all be looking to sue. The first two of those were on my watch and I saw the last one.
