  1. Clemson's toughest opponent is Texas A&M. There is no way they lose a game this season. Who else is on the docket that will give them a challenge?
  2. [sarcasm]Yup... there were shards all over the batters box![/sarcasm]
  3. Don't they get about $50K in swag, anyway?
  4. I thought of starting a new thread... but then thought this would be the place to put this: LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Carry on...
  5. He is back at Utah State, I see.
  6. I saw on Brew Crew Ball that the Brewers are tied to the top prospect out of Venezuela: Read here He is only 15 years old and... My son just turned 16 at the end of August. He is a good player and there are many other players that are better than he is. I haven't heard of the Brewers signing any of those boys (or my son... ) for any money. What is the difference between signing the non-domestic 15-year-olds and why kids in the US can't be signed that early? Also, what responsibility does the non-domestic boy have to the team if he gets a 1.5MM signing bonus?
  7. ... but did you stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night?
  8. Ok, Mr. Miyagi... time to do your magic!!!!!
  9. Early vs. Zipper Merge. Perhaps the solution is to have a sign showing where to zipper merge. That way, people understand where it should be an should know what to expect. They didn't put in "late merge." The one where people start merging where the lane starts to end causing both lanes to come to a standstill.
  10. Somebody must have written a new song??? Since 8/8: 12 for 35: .343 / .543 / .968 12 K's 4 Doubles 1 HR Chuck Knobloch sightings are too frequent https://www.fangraphs.com/splitstool.aspx?playerid=20003&position=2B&splitArr=&strgroup=season&statgroup=1&startDate=2019-08-08&endDate=2019-08-19&filter=&statType=player&autoPt=true&players=&sort=NaN,1
  11. Based on what happened with zippering in Milwaukee when the zoo interchange work was being done, zippering doesn't occur 100 yards before the lane closure. I get really frustrated when I properly zipper with ample time and people either try to zoom in at the last 100 yards, or go into the distress lane (rush hour) to sneak in. While the guy probably shouldn't have gone 1/2 way into the lane, he was probably preventing the situation that I see daily. That bugs me...
  12. I have been thinking what Cephus would teach others regarding his experience? What led him to get into this situation? Could he (or would he) avoid it?
  13. I'm just going to assume you are joking...how is the poutine? Merveilleux!!!!????
  14. [sarcasm]You see! This is proof that they should have traded Yelich and Cain! Man the lifeboats!!!!!![/sarcasm]
  15. What happens if we play it backwards?
  16. How would it have been reported if Dave Cash was traded for cash? Hmmm...
  17. I have been with Playstation Vue for a long time. Very happy, although the price has been going up a a bunch lately.
  18. It is about time for another movie parody. Let's go SUTER!!!!!
  19. Sorry, but I have had this tune in my head for a few weeks and I have been encouraged to write something down. A few lyrics set to the tune of Gaston from Beauty and the Beast. You need to pronounce Keston as Kest-ON... No one hits like Keston No one runs like Keston No one comes up and wins in the clutch like Keston For there's no man in town half as manly Except for the league MVP You can ask any Cain, Braun or Yeli And they'll tell you whose team they prefer to be on No one smiles like Keston A big kid like Keston No one has some peach fuzz on his face like Keston As a young rookie, yes, he's intimidating My, what a guy, that Keston! Give five hurrahs Give twelve hip-hips Keston is the best And the rest is all drips No one fields like Keston Turns DPs like Keston Late in games no one beats on the Cubs like Keston There are many much larger and brawny As you see he still hits the ball hard Some may call him scraggly or scrawny But it's baseballs that he will step up and bombard... Sorry... that is all I got... Go Crew!
  20. Didn't think this dealt with the Major Leagues, so I thought I'd put the question here. I saw something I had not seen before. Wondering what the rule is. High school level baseball -- Runner delay steal of second base. Second baseman gets to the base on the run and gets the throw and uses a sweep tag in between the base and the runner. Glove is between the runner's foot and the base, but because of the sweep tag, the second baseman's hand comes out of the glove because the runner's foot was on the glove. The runner stops with his foot on the glove with the ball in the glove. Ruling: safe because the fielder did not maintain control of the ball. A weird one, but I thought the ump made the correct call.
  21. Knee high by July! Oh. It's July 18th... Haha...don't come to the northern portion of the DairyLand saying that. Unlike you southerners we got lots of rain early on and really don't need the latest rain either. Many fields are bare or just weeds, never could get planted. Of the ones planted a lot look really rough or have massive bare spots from flooding. A buddy of mine took a picture of his corn crops on July 4. They were taller than he is and he is about 5'10". He said, "Me high by the Fourth of July." That was in Watertown.
  22. It was much better than the egg laid by the USMNT against Mexico.
  23. [sarcasm]Beer does not wait for the inning to end. Let's get real, guys...[/sarcasm] Earlier this year, I sat on the third base side just out of view of where the TV shows the on deck batter. It was a joke with the people standing up there. Even if there are signs asking people to wait, people will either ignore it, or be too drunk to see it. In the video, the young lady squatted down to stay out of the way. The guy in front of the Unit just didn't care. The only time this year where it wasn't a problem is when we were in the front row in the loge in the right field bleachers. Mat Gamel threw a ball my way...
  24. Men in Black: International was a fun movie. We also saw Secret Life of Pets 2. Kevin Hart is hilarious!!!!
  25. This doesn't only apply to sports journalism, but journalism as a whole. You can see it with mainstream media outlets being driven by an agenda as opposed to getting facts. I don't want to go down that path, but I think it could apply to baseball. Facts can be spun to push a certain agenda. "Out-getters? What in the heck are those? It sounds like a first grader talking about playground ball. Out-getters... geesch!!!!" Then, when the W's started piling up, a writer can do one of a few things: 1. Write about something else; or 2: do some analysis to see why it is working. All in all, I truly believe that Journalism is nowhere near the quality craft it was before the Internet became a pillar of our lives. How many times do we see misspellings, wrong pictures, or bush-league headlines? Time to market is very small that shortcuts on time and personnel are made resulting in a crappier product. It is almost like being a meteorologist... A lot of copy editing is outsourced to India to people who are ESL. I wish that was a joke, but it isn't. You mean like this?
