  1. ^It's the way they lost the games though. Sacramento should never outscore any team by 24 points in one half. Then again the Kings are probably thinking a Bogut-less Bucks team should never outscore anyone by 21 in one half.
  2. HUGE win for Wisconsin tonight. Only their second win at Purdue since 1972 and it snapped Purdue's 26 game win streak at home. Nice to see Bruiser finally show up during a conference game, he was 4-4 on threes. I thought Evans did a really good job on Hummel as well.
  3. I can't wait for this album. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is basically just James Mercer operating under the Shins' name, no? The rest of the band moved on? Yeah I believe so. I think it's basically him, the drummer from Modest Mouse, and a couple other musicians from various other bands.
  4. ^ I think episode II is slightly less panned critically, but I personally don't really think there's a huge discernible difference quality-wise between I and II. IMO, the most cringe-worthy line in the entire series comes from episode II. I actually liked III a lot, probably more than most people. Kind of hard to mess up that installment though.
  5. Not 2011, but The Shins released a new song from their upcoming album on their website. http://simplesong.theshins.com/ I like it a lot, but I also love basically anything James Mercer has done.
  6. No kidding. Top 5 all-time in HR, RBI, Runs, Hits for the Brewers. Cirillo not being in is a joke too. I think these voters are confusing the Brewers for some storied franchise.
  7. This offense is just a total embarrassment.
  8. Looking at those percentages you'd think this was to get into Cooperstown.
  9. I was going to say I can't believe they are charging people to read garbage like any of Hunt's columns, but then I read today's. Wow.
  10. 1. Brewers 2. UW Basketball 3. Packers 4. UW Football 5. Marquette Basketball 6. UWM Basketball 7. Bucks. The last two I'll root for and go to maybe a game or two per year, but I'm not too heartbroken if they don't have a good team. Oakland was my favorite AL team from ~2000 til a couple years ago, and my fandom really picked up when they had Zito/Mulder/Hudson. Haven't paid too much attention to them in a while though. For whatever reason, I've really liked Pac-10 (12) basketball the past few years. I became a fan of WSU when Dick Bennett went there and then stayed when Tony took over. It got me to to follow the conference in general and I loved watching guys like Brandon Roy, Russell Westbrook/Kevin Love, James Harden, Ryan Anderson etc.
  11. Pretty fun 24 hour period for UW sports. I really, really hate MSU.
  12. I could get used to this Ryan Evans.
  13. Praying the Brewers don't get Mitch Williams for any of these. That was unbearable.
  14. I had low expectations because I didn't really like The Hazards of Love at all, so in that regard The King is Dead was a pleasant surprise. I still don't think it's close to Picaresque or The Crane Wife, though. Brett, I'm about 99.9% you'd have heard Party Rock Anthem at some point. Same goes with some of those other songs too, you just may not know it.
  15. This is exactly why I don't think it'll be Seattle either. It would be the most obvious money grab since A-Rod in Texas if he decides to go there. Not sure how important this is to him, but I've seen it mentioned a number of times (by Rosenthal maybe?) how Seattle is the furthest MLB city from his hometown of Orlando which could be a deterrent for him. Then again, it's not like Chicago, Baltimore, Arlington, Toronto etc. are close.
  16. I was at this one too, and it was my second time seeing them in a week. The first (and my first overall) was at Bonnaroo which was a pretty incredible experience, but I think I liked the Riverside show better because A) they played an extra half hour and B) I was 20 feet from the stage as opposed to hundreds of feet away in a sea of people. My favorite of the year is probably Paul McCartney at Wrigley. The only reason it's not surefire #1 is because I was in the 500's, so it was basically as far away as you could possibly be. Still though, his voice is honestly like 90-95% of what it used to be which is just incredible considering he's 70. His energy level for that age is out of this world too. The show was over 2.5 hours and the final encore was Yesterday, Helter Skelter, and all of Paul's Abbey Road medley songs right in a row to end it.
  17. i had their top 100 playlist on spotify up earlier this week, haven't heard most of the songs and wasn't a fan of alot of them. seems like they are trying harder and harder to stay out of the mainstream as indie music becomes more mainstream. I've thought that too, but it also seems like they'll go out of their way to "promote" very mainstream songs. I think there's like 3 Drake songs on their top 100 tracks, plus they seem to love pop acts like Beyonce and Rihanna. I'm pretty sure I've seen Britney Spears stuff on there too. Hell, that Kreayshawn song is on their top tracks list.
  18. I don't know, I thought last year might've been a little bit better for "indie" fans.. At least more top heavy. Arcade Fire, The National, Tallest Man on Earth, Deerhunter, LCD Soundsystem, Vampire Weekend, Black Keys etc..., and seemingly everyone loved Kanye's. Not going to bother coming up with a list cause most have been listed by others, but M83's has been my favorite. For one's that haven't been mentioned, Washed Out and The Rural Alberta Advantage put out some solid ones too.
  19. ^Agreed that it was a pretty excruciating pace. However, it was seven episodes and not ten.
  20. Haudricourt's blog post about the Ramirez signing said that he hasn't received any indication about the team non-tendering McGehee.
  21. Sounds like it could still be more than the six games.
  22. Went to espn.com to check out the Xavier-Cincinnati college basketball fight and stumbled upon this. Not really sure what else to say other than wow. Obviously I know nothing of the case, but this paragraph doesn't exactly inspire hope.
  23. I saw him/them at The Riverside this summer which I think was the first night of the tour. I'd be surprised if you don't love the show. I want to say there were about 9 people on stage so they were able to recreate a lot of the sounds from the new album. They opened with Perth, and it was LOUD. And awesome. They had some pretty awesome lights too for many of the songs (Blood Bank comes to mind.) My only regret is not seeing them after For Emma came out, as they only played four songs from that one. Theavarock is right about the hush over the crowd though. Re:Stacks is my favorite song and I was afraid people would be talking over it. It felt like no one in the crowd even wanted to blink during it.
  24. That's actually a really good question. Maybe K Rod will point to Rafael Soriano, who pretty much got $12-$13 million a year over three years to be a set up guy? Not sure how much weight that would hold though given it's the Yankees.
  25. He does, which is apparently what may have been the deciding factor in him not wanting to go to Miami.
