  1. Man, did anyone else see the James Blake/Fernando Gonzalez semi final match? There was a call that kind of screwed over Blake and he ended up losing the third set 11-9. Blake was up 9-8 and during Gonzalaz's service game Blake hit a forehand that glanced off the other guy's frame and went long, only the umpire didn't know it. Of course Gonzalez never said anything either though so he kind of seems like a weasel.
  2. $1-2. I've never worried about percentages, since it isn't much harder to deliever 4 pizzas than it is 1. Just curious, but do you do the same at restaurants? I mean other than writing down more stuff on the order slip and carrying more food from the kitchen to your table, it's not that much more work yet people still do percentages. Definitely not suitable for work, but this fits the topic well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgBGRfSvfxY
  3. I graduated from Oak Creek in 2006. I actually got cut from the freshman baseball team, who the hell gets cut from a freshman sport? I ended up not feeling too badly cause they were the Summer league state champs '03-'05. I ended up playing tennis the next 3 years and it was lot of fun and we ended up pretty good (relatively) my senior year. Of course once we played the Brookfield's/Tosa's we got smoked. Brian Calhoun, Travis Beckham and Tony Butler all went there. Ben Walker graduated from there like 10 years before me and was on the Creighton basketball teams that made the second round of the NCAA Tourney around 2000.
  4. Playoffs for sure. I think something like 5 of the 6 World Series have featured wild card teams anyway.
  5. Will he be behind the plate at all? His strike zone in the Cards game wasn't very consistent...
  6. I didn't have a problem with Prince's reaction either. As long as you don't take 5-6 walking steps in adoration, a la Ryan Braun a few weeks ago, I don't think it's disrespectful.
  7. I kind of doubt that actually knocked him out...?
  8. The Braves bullpen must hate Charlie Morton. Lasts 2 1/3 innings, only 15 2/3 more innings of pitching to go! Hopefully Campillo goes 8 or something.
  9. He will never, ever drop the "can't bunt" thing. Who cares. If he was hitting well and playing good defense I doubt he'd mention it.
  10. Best road record in the national league, second best in all of baseball behind the Angels. Unreal.
  11. Probably one of the coolest, simplest pranks ever.
  12. I was reading some older game threads, and I was surprised to find that even when the Brewers were completely out of the pennant race in August, the attitude of the IGT was generally more positive than it has been recently. That could have something to do with the fact they weren't expected to contend for the playoffs, so it's harder to be pissed when something bad happens. Having Sabathia and Sheets both go in back-to-back series against 2 of the 3 worst offenses in all of baseball seems like it should be a crime. It's not often I feel like the Brewers "should" win a road series, but I feel like the Brewers should win this series. Hopefully Suppan continues to pitch pretty well like his last couple starts. I remember during his last start on FSN they showed that his ERA in August since '04 is significantly better than any other month, so that'd be awfully nice if he kept that up.
  13. I'll also say the Stanley Cup. This had to be one of the coolest celebrations after a championship ever. http://www.nydailynews.com/img/2007/11/13/gal_mess9.jpg
  14. You know the guy doesn't even like baseball?
  15. YOU HAVE PERIODONTAL DISEASE It's not just the sugar, it's the acid.
  16. I never really realized how edgy some swimmers are about Phelps possible record. Ian Thorpe said Phelps wouldn't break the record, Spitz is trying to downplay the possibility of Phelps doing it, and France was going to "smash" the U.S. relay team. It seems like no one gives credit to him. If there is a more physically demanding sport than Water Polo I would like to see it.
  17. I can't say I'd heard of Balester before this series. Does anyone know what kind of stuff he throws/does he throw hard?
  18. I'll root for the Cubs to beat the Cardinals every time unless the Brewers get closer than 3-4 games to the top of the division.
  19. On PTI, they were doing the "Percentages" game or whatever it's called. One of the topics was "What are the chances the dugout scuffle turns the Brewers season around?" Kornheiser said 0%, and J.A. Adande said 100%. His reasoning was "They've won two in a row since then, and they hadn't done that since the Cubs swept them out of town!" Except for the first two games after that series, he'd be correct.
  20. Jeff Karstens has a perfect game through 6 1/3 for Pittsburgh against the D'Backs. Edit: Make it seven innings, wow.
  21. Craig Counsell sharply catches pop up.
  22. Well crap, Shouse. Plz get Dunn here.
  23. So if Cam and Kendall get out will they let Suppan bat? He's been dealing but I kind of hope they'd go to the pen with the day off tomorrow.
  24. As Brian and Bill would say, "Hopefully Weeks's hot day at the plate will translate into a nice hitting streak."
