  1. Celtics. At least I hope so. Ray Allen is the man and Garnett is way too good to never win a championship.
  2. I'll say 13-13, 8-5 at home and 5-8 on the road. Toronto's pitching is quite good, I think that's the only home series they'll lose this month.
  3. In that same letter, they referred to TGJ as a superstar of the furture or something along those lines. It's sad they all letters like that to be published.
  4. Gabe Gross hits a walk off HR in the bottom of the 10th! The best part, it was off a lefty.
  5. I'll agree with most others and say he's really good, not yet great. A thirty point difference in avg and OBP is pretty bad. He'll likely hit between .290 and .310 or so every year if he keeps this up. I'd say he'd be "great" if he gets about a .370 or .380 OBP with ~.300 avg and 30-40 homers a year. I'm really not that concerned with his strikeouts. Unless you're Albert Pujols or Barry Bonds (aka sure-fire HOFer), if you have a ton of power you'll probably strike out a decent amount. As long as his walks increase I'll be thrilled with him.
  6. The Citgo thing at the park was flashing 465 feet. I have no idea how far it went because I was in the last row of the second deck and it flew over us.
  7. You don't know how badly I hope he decided to check the site out after the meeting, and hopefully he's reading this. He's probably either A) laughing, B) asking to be traded or released.
  8. Anyone know why the Terrace Reserved tickets are only $6.00 tonight? I know Friday nights are half price for college students for Terrace/bleachers, but was wondering what this was about. Edit: Nevermind, if I wasn't dumb and lazy I would've found this: For six select dates during the 2008 season (April 9, May 30, June 18, July 11, August 18 and September 9), Terrace Reserved seats will be just $6. This promotion may not be combined with any other Milwaukee Brewers promotion.
  9. Thank you! I said the exact same thing to myself today. Bill Schroeder had another gem today regarding the bullpen usage of Bobby Cox. He said to give Cox credit because two of the relievers he used, Bennett and Boyer, had the losses in the first two games and this showed he has confidence in them and doesn't want them to dwell on their losses. This is dumb because: 1) Jo-Jo Reyes received the loss in yesterday's game, not Boyer. 2) If every manager refused to pitch a reliever who lost the previous day, he'd be a moron. 3) Jeff Bennett gave up a broken-bat bloop single to Bill Hall, and a lazy flyball barely deep enough to score the winning run. Even if Bennett did get the loss, it's not like he pitched poorly. Just as annoying is BA of course agreed with him. I realize he's not going to openly disagree with what "Rock, partner" says, but it's so annoying how firmly entrenched BA's lips are on Bill's rump.
  10. My problem with him isn't what he values in terms of baseball players, but his ungodly annoying announcing style and voice. Have you watched a home run derby on ESPN? "BACK BACK BACK BACK BACK GONE!", every home run. It's literally unbearable. It's bad enough he comes up with nicknames for players, it's even worse 75% of them are a stretch, and 95% of them aren't even remotely funny.
  11. Theriot's last 14 days: 234 .315 .277 .591Weeks' last 14 days: 265 .393 .449 .842 I know it's only two weeks, but Theriot's OPS has dropped 52 points his last nine games. I'll be very surprised if he's outproducing Weeks by the end of the year. As for an actual vent, it's going to suck watching out fifth starter trot out their every week, whether it's McClung or someone else they give a whirl. Not sure how I got that white background...sorry.
  12. What was even more frustrating about the IBB to Chipper today was Bill's comment about how Kelly Johnson did the Brewers a favor by opening up a base for Jones. Nevermind that Teixeria only averages 35 home runs a year, he's been slumping so he must get an out this at bat!
  13. Oh wow. That cost them a run. Actually nevermind that was interference.
  14. Bill, maybe it's because he was clearly tired after 50 pitches last time, and now he's at 55. And that he walks a lot of guys. Just a thought. That's what a third basemen looks like when he doesn't rush his throw?
  15. Hopefully the hitters will start to see Campillo's pitches better otherwise it could be another ugly next couple innings against him. And Jeff "I swing at everything" Francouer walks on four pitches. I pray someone is warming up right now.
  16. Well the count was off during McClung's at bat, and it said "MIDDLE of 3rd" for half of Kendall's at bat where the count is usually shown, what a joke.
  17. Well Campillo's highs in pitches this year are 78 and 59, hopefully he'll be gone by the 5th inning.
  18. There's that improved defense from Rickie. Honestly what kind of throw is that? Prince should've covered, too.
  19. Well he already has 4 walks in 2 games in the majors. Maybe he rarely walked in the minors because he knew he would just mash everyone.
  20. I'm going to the Brewers game monday and Doug Davis is pitching for Arizona. This is awesome because: 1) Doug Davis is cool and fresh off his cancer treatment. 2) I won't have to watch Brandon Webb or Dan Haren baffle the Brewers.
  21. Why don't baseball players ever congratulate/talk to players on the other team? It seems like football and basketball players do it after every game, why not in baseball? Seems kind of weird to me.
  22. I think the appeal of having Carlos in the bullpen is that he can give you 2 or 3 innings a couple times a week. Mota still scares me with his high walk rates. If the Brewers are up or down 3 I'm fine with him coming in, but a close game and I'm nervous. His lowish ERA seems to be a bit lucky right now. I'd rather have Torres pitch in the high-leverage situations (similar to the Cubs with Marmol), whether that's the 7th or the 9th.
  23. Up until today it was uncertain whether or not Campillo would start because of a blister, hopefully it will still affect him, but only for this game of course. I know it's only 31.3 innings but a 0.83 WHIP is pretty crazy. Hopefully he tires after four innings. If McClung recreated his Nats start from Saturday I'd be pretty ecstatic.
