  1. I sure hope Bush can get through the 7th now.
  2. Pat Burrell and Chase Utley are 1 and 2 in the NL in home runs. If Bush gives up solo home runs to each of them I'm not going to be all up in arms about it. It's our 4th/5th/6th best starter (depending on how you view him) vs. a very good pitcher. I'm really okay with 6 innings pitched and 4 runs given up by Bush.
  3. I wouldn't mind another Prince home run right here.
  4. I'm okay with how Bush has pitched so far considering how insane the Phillies hitters have been, but Greg Dobbs is probably like 6th on my list of who I'd guess would have their homerun. Edit: I'm a moron, didn't see Utley's homerun.
  5. I'm like 95% sure Gabe Gross insulted someone in your family. If you honestly think that pretty much robbing a home run is a routine play, then you have extremely lofty expectations of substiutute outfielders. Gross obviously isn't a very good centerfielder, but some people make it seem like Gwynn = Mays on defense and Gabe Gross runs around with one leg.
  6. Hopefully Kapler will somehow keep up his torrent pace against Hamles tonight. Hamels is one of my favorite non-Brewers but it'd be nice to see him get rocked tonight. Unfortuantely I can see him getting double digit K's in 7 innings or something similar to that.
  7. I'd rather watch the ESPN telecast. Sure their announcers probably don't know much about the Brewers, but at least you'll see every play and where the ball lands in the outfield. Plus, it'll be nice to go one game without hearing Bill say "Not sure how you lay off that pitch with two strikes" or BA say "A deep fly ball!" when it's hit like 250 feet.
  8. I agree it was kind of funny and I laughed too. I remember earlier this season on ESPN the home plate umpire had a mic on for the game, and he got hit with a foul tip or something. The announcers go "let's listen to what his reaction was" or something to that effect, and shockingly it was an f-bomb. Stuff like that's funny, but I'd rather not miss a play because of it.
  9. Yay, only two more weeks of this crap! I'm really going to miss them showing some drunken idiot swearing because someone spilled a beer on his pants instead of seeing the actual game.
  10. Good lord, Utley already has 9 home runs?! I know it's like 1/8th of a season or whatever but him and Burrell are on freakin' tears!
  11. My hair had been pretty long for the last couple years (probably about 2 haircuts per year) and it would take forever to dry. I got it cut pretty short a couple weeks ago and it takes like 10 minutes now, it's glorious. Not only that, but hats actually fit properly on my head now which is always nice.
  12. Triwi, that would sure suck if they had to forfeit. Is there anyway they can prove when the trade was made, though? I guess maybe if the Tampa GM says "we made it before their game" or something, but otherwise I don't know if it's possible to know.
  13. Ennder, I certainly agree batting average isn't high as far as how important offensive stats are, but I think people are upset because aside from the last couple months of '07 he really hasn't been very special. I know he hasn't even played a full season and I fully believe he'll have a good year this year if he stays healthy, but people see that he was the number 2 overall pick and expect more from him. I'm not saying I agree with that, but that's how a lot of people feel.
  14. For starters, even "Gross supporters" agree he shouldn't be used against left handers, so saying he hit .091 against them (in 11 at bats no less) is kind of pointless. Second, his OBP was 94 points higher than his average, which I'd say is good. People don't like him because he can hit for average, they like him because he had one of the best plate disciplines on the team. Although I disagree that Gwynn brings more to the team, I can respect that you and other people feel that way. However, to say "I can't believe that people wanted to use a roster spot on the guy" is just ignorance.
  15. No where in his post did he suggest replacing Hall, nor did he say he is ready to give up on him. In fact a lot of it was why are people so harsh on Rickie but not Hall, which is a valid point. Why shouldn't people be able to voice their displeasure when someone's playing poorly?
  16. Uh, what? Just because it's not gourmet people shouldn't choose what they want? That's a terrible idea.
  17. It'll be nice to finally face a lefty, but then again not so nice that it's Hamels. Hopefully they can mount a furious comeback against him like the August game at Miller Park last season. I'd much prefer that to the game in Philly where he baffled the entire lineup.
  18. If the Cardinals fall off, their winning record against us won't look too good to the committee in late September. The Brewers should hope that the Cardinals finish in a close second to be void of any "bad losses".
  19. I'm sorry, but to me this isn't very close. In 1800+ minor league at bats Gwynn's line is .273/.349/.344 with 99 extra base hits. An average major leaguer who plays a full season gets about 600 at bats, so that would equate to about 33 extra base hits over a full season, which is pretty terrible for a position player. The only thing he was (slightly) better at than Gross was hitting for average. Gross was better in getting on base, slugging, extra base hits and so on. Unless Gwynn develops better plate discipline and takes more walks, he is not a better hitter than Gross. I know Gwynn Jr. is better at defense and has some speed, but to me that doesn't make up for the gap in hitting.
  20. The Brewers now have zero power from LH bench players. If Gwynn or Counsell come up in a late game situation against a RHP down a couple of runs, you have absolutely no hope of a home run. If an OFer goes down for an extended period of time the teams offensive production could drop dramatically. Of course if no one gets hurt it's not a big deal, but I would've still liked it if he was kept on the team. He was probably my second favorite Brewer and I hope he does very well in Tampa with whatever playing time he receives.
  21. I don't necessarily think anyone's not blaming the players, obviously they've been hitting poorly so they should get blamed. However, the managers job is to put his team in the best position to win. I'm not saying Yost single-handedly lost any game for the Brewers, though you could argue Sunday's game, but I simply don't feel that he's put his team in the best position to win with how he's used his bullpen the last two days. The "saving Riske for the 10th" is just a repeat of last year when he'd refuse to pitch Cordero in a tie game in the ninth, saving him for potential extra innings.
  22. Brewers The Office Scrubs Family Guy when it's on but I think I've missed the last couple. Seinfeld reruns
  23. I don't remember exactly, but I think it was Prince's third plate appearance. He had already BBed once and IBBed the other time. This time Braun was on base (I believe he doubled) so it was pretty obvious Prince wouldn't get anything great to hit. He went up their hacking away and struck out on 3 pitches. I'm sure it's frustrating when you're not getting good pitches to hit, and when you're up in a "big spot", as BA would say, you want to help your team. But man, Prince, you gotta take a walk if they're not going to give you anything to hit. I don't think you can say any one player on the team has had a good approach so far this year. Obviously Kendall's been hitting well, and Hart's the only other one that's not about .220, but he doesn't seem to have had a ton of good ABs. This funk obviously won't last forever but it would be nice if they started to get out of it by the end of this homestand.
  24. Remember Quantum Leap? That was kind of a cool show. Or at least it was when I was like 10 and would watch some of the reruns on Sci Fi. I guess I really have no idea now if that was a legitimately good show or not, does anyone have an answer?
  25. I would've attended, valpo. I get breakfast all the time at restaurants at any time of the day. Over-medium eggs, bacon and toast go well together. Actually any of like 20 different breakfast foods go well together. Way to make this thread, now I'm hungry! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
