  1. I was on the same airplane as Doug Melvin to Pittsburgh last summer, that was kind of cool. When I was about 9 or 10 Adam Timmerman was in front of us walking out of the Bradley Center after a Bucks game.
  2. I know he was brought up in the Kentucky rumors last year after Tubby was gone, maybe that's what you're thinking of? There's also usually some talk of him maybe taking over MSU after Izzo leaves, whenever that will be.
  3. I don't know if this really fits in, but two of three Buster Olney's observations on sportscenter were: 1) You can't judge a Japanese player by their Spring Training, citing Fukudome's big game 2) Gagne hasn't reversed what happened in Boston. I know his task was to make observations based off one game, but talk about judging really early, wow.
  4. Yeah, what idiot would want more money, and to coach at one of the top 5 or 10 college basketball programs of all time? Sure the first year or two will be rough with possible sanctions and whatnot, but I think over the long run it would be a good career move for him. I'm not glad he's leaving, but it's hard to really blame him. Would this have anything to do with either James or McNeal thinking of leaving early? Obviously James shouldn't, but I'm wondering if either of the two would think of testing the draft now, or maybe it has nothing to do with it. Tony Bennett That would really be a contrast in styles, I don't really see him fitting in there. Edit: I forgot Crean's huge extension made him one of the highest paid coaches so it might not be money, but I'm sure history has something to do with it.
  5. I'm guessing more money and a more storied basketball program. I'd be really surprised if Pearl left Tennessee anytime soon.
  6. I thought I heard 400,000 to 800,000, but either way it sounds like it doubled. Kind of off-topic, but UW is rated 5th in the Big 10 by rivals for recruiting class, behind Minnesota. Looks like Tubby's sure having an impact already http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  7. Not to nitpick, but I believe his salary was raised to $800,000 per year when he signed his extension a year ago. With that being said, a lot of articles I read basically rip Pullman and say how it's a very remote location and there's not a lot to do there. I guess it's pretty hard to get in and out of so that obviously doesn't appeal to potential recruits and their visiting plans. Rivals.com has them 7th in the Pac 10 right now for 2008 incoming freshman. I don't know how realistic this is, but I'm really hoping he'll stay with WSU til his contract runs out (2014) and then take over for Bo whenever he leaves. Is Sean Miller (Xavier) still being talked about? I had heard his name mentioned a few times but I wonder if he'd want to leave now with IU returning no starters, though I suppose he'd get more money.
  8. http://sierraclub.org/ Main story is pretty funny.
  9. I'll be happy with the relatively low number of weekday day games after this week, since I have class til 3:40 every Monday-Thursday. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  10. "You Won't Know" by Brand New. It's my favorite song by my favorite band...which I guess would make it my favorite song then.
  11. I think the Brewers % drop will be slightly more drastic than 4%. I'll go with 48 home wins and 38 road wins, which makes for about a 6% hit.
  12. I'm glad you can tell other people what to talk about. Isn't he going to play CF next year anyway? And for what it's worth, he's played 51 games out there in the majors so it's not like he'll be totally unaware of what to do. I don't see why putting Gross in right and Hart in center is such a terrible alternative for the first month, it's not like just Gwynn or just Gross will start the next 24 games so why not at least try? This is kind of off topic, but on ESPN it says Hart's zone rating for center is .876, does anyone know what the average is for that position?
  13. I was wondering the same thing, because I really doubt you can measure how many errors a first basmen saves. It seems kind of funny to just throw out a number like that, too. Obviously he can get balls that are thrown high when he's 6'5" and probably has a longer wingspan than that, but what about balls in the dirt? If it's a basic ball in the dirt, the average first basemen should be able to scoop it, so if he doesn't it is sometimes an error on him.
  14. On a daily basis, I'll take 2/3 any way I can get it. Looking down the line, I'd rather have a guy hitting the ball hard going 0/4 than a guy barely making contact going 2/3. Exactly. I wouldn't say Gwynn "figured out" Z. If figuring out a pitcher is a weak grounder and a bloop, what did Fukudome do to the Brewers' pitchers?
  15. Rickie Weeks 1st inning of Wednesday's game.
  16. He also had a couple nice blocks on back-to-back pitches by Torres. Sure the average defensive catcher makes those look routine, but with Estrada you'd have to hold your breath, especially with two in a row.
  17. The only antidote would be a Ryan Braun walk-off the final game of the year to take the division. I'm pretty sure Cubs fans love him http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  18. In today's game thread they had pictures of everyone in the lineup. Add that to the gigantic pic signatures and, like Game 05 said, the 10 quotes per reply, it takes 5 minutes to scroll through one page.
  19. I bet he would've like to after last April, too. Obviously he played a good game, but his two hits were a very weak grounder, and a bloop that found a hole. Then he hit a routine flyball. I'm not trying to downplay the Sac Fly because obviously his approach was to not do too much, and he did a great job, but he's all of a sudden a saint because of a timely routine flyball? I'll admit he made some nice catches, but even the "haters" have admitted he's an above-average defender. Again, I'm not trying to downplay his good game, but for the TGJ "supporters" to gloat based on one game is a joke.
  20. There's already a thread at NSBB: "Official get rid of Theriot thread." You gotta love it. Then again it's hard to argue with them. Wow, can someone please tell Mark A's kid how to wear a hat...
  21. Hoofta. I've got to say I didn't mind Gwynn today http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif (Please stay healthy Sheets, please stay healthy Sheets)
  22. I don't know about a Z meltdown, he's en fuego so far.
  23. He's 0-2 against a very good pitcher, I don't see the cause for concern really.
  24. I hope I get to see the rest of he Top 50 Dynamic Duos before 3:30, I may lose sleep over this.
  25. Ryan Braun does what he wants. Does it seem like Sheets is working faster than usual? Maybe it's the 6 month layoff making me forget.
