  1. I was thinking this as well. I'll be on my feet applauding the 2011 Brewers at the end of Friday's game, win or lose. Also, let's give Principessa21 a moment here. She roots for the Yankees for the same kind of reasons we root for the Brewers. I'm intrigued by DET-TEX in the ALCS, and oddly pleased that the Brewers' season will last at least 18-20 hours longer than New York's, but I won't take joy in her sadness.
  2. Not to be a downer, but I'd be surprised if anyone could just show up tomorrow and get preferred parking. Walking in from the Molitor lot on Sunday, the preferred lots seemed to be almost full two hours before game time.
  3. Indeed. That's my take on it too. Once a transaction leaves the Trading Post forum, we can't tell you what to do with it. The lead post originally included a dollar figure, hence Bikeage's question - and the dollar figure has since been edited out.
  4. Also win it for my aunt, who has been fighting breast and lung cancer and whose favorite current player is Rickie Weeks. Getting to the 2012 season is no 100% guarantee for any of us, but it especially isn't for her.
  5. I was at the last game that Yo pitched against the Diamondbacks at home. He looked great. It's no lock by any means, but of the available starters, I think having Yo start an elimination game at home ensures the best chance of there being future elimination games in 2011.
  6. Thanks for the "man on the street" report. How many people are wearing black? (not sure I want to say "fans")
  7. Yes and no, it appears. This is also the first start for Wolfotarras since Randy first publicly used the term at last Thursday's rally. Dear Brewers: Just because you have multiple chances to win this series doesn't mean you have to utilize all of them. 1-0 for Wednesday. Have fun, and good luck. Best wishes, hawing
  8. To be fair, I remember both feeling and observing a lot of joy in Miller Park after NLDS game 3 in 2008 - as if tens of thousands of Brewer fans were suddenly able to set aside the "stay of execution" feeling that Suppan brought right back a minute or so into game 4. Hey, Joe Saunders and Jeff Suppan have the same first and last initials! /grasping at straws/
  9. My mother has ticket stubs from game 7 of the 1958 World Series. Bleacher seats for $3.00. She says she'll leave them to me.
  10. I was at the July 5 game where Josh Collmenter had little trouble with the Brewers, so I'm having a bit of trouble getting that image out of my head. However, that game lacked Braun (injured) and Hairston (not acquired yet), and Shaun didn't pitch. So there's no special reason to expect a carbon copy. 1-0 for Tuesday, Brewers. You know what's within your reach, and you can get there tonight. Have fun, and good luck.
  11. I noticed that this morning! We specifically didn't hustle back to the car for the radio highlights, feeling confident it would eventually be online, but all I see are pre and post game interviews. I've got the option of the Gameday audio archive, but the five-minute capsules are terrific for my iPod.
  12. At least you don't live with a Neil Diamond fan. Unless you're into Neil, in which case you'd fit right in around half of my household. Even the guy I dated before I met the S.O. liked Neil Diamond - and so did his whole family. I remember one night in the 80s when they invited me over to watch, as a family, a Neil Diamond concert on videodisc. True story. I passed.
  13. In the vicinity of 222, the crowd and atmosphere rivaled if not topped that of 2008 NLDS game 3. It was definitely a more engaged crowd than in Saturday's game. There were plenty of moments I missed because I was surrounded by taller people waving towels. Not that it wasn't still very exciting. Whoever thought they heard a JER-RY chant was correct. I heard that several times between Saturday and tonight on the 3rd base side. In the 6th inning there was also a YU-NI chant. Swear to God. I thought of Brewerfan and wondered if we were headed for the end times. As I'd hoped, we were able to bring my 11 year old nephew who has now experienced a postseason game. I've known him all his life and have never seen him so excited. I'm thinking I may be the cool aunt for eternity now. This is wonderful fun and I hope there is a next round if only so others of you have a chance to experience it.
  14. Wow, covering two of my primary fan crushes in one story. Thanks for sharing!
  15. There you go! I was thinking about Whacking Day yesterday. My nephew and brother are here, so we're leaving town soon. 1-0 for Sunday, Brewers. Don't let up!
  16. With some notable exceptions, BF.net appears to be rocking the loge level this series. I think the only 'netter splitter met (briefly) and didn't mention is tristarscoop, who has our back in the terrace along with thablingster.
  17. [quote author=young guns wrote: [/b]I almost feel bad for the one guy who is a Nebraska fan in addition to being a dbacks fan.Ohhh, yesterday had to hurt.
  18. I think it's OK, or at least unstoppable anymore, at Camp Randall. Those fans have it down to nearly a science, and don't they do it relatively early on, and maybe not right at a critical game moment?
  19. In 2008 there was also an element of sheer wonder that a playoff game was happening in Milwaukee. So you had up to 26 years (depending on one's age) of pent-up longing contributing to the vibe. I remember thinking in 2008 that the Saturday game seemed full of die-hards, and Sunday's had a noticeable influx of more casual fans who were there to say they were there. Of course, that one pitcher who there's no value in naming killed any remaining buzz with his pitches to the first batter of the game.
  20. I believe I saw some in the terrace level team store. I didn't check the price.
  21. I can't get to NYC, but it's nice to see you posting here again, bernieh. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif For those of you not in Arizona on Tuesday, I intend to be in the bf.net chat room as long as the software works. Glad I saved some leave time for October!
  22. They play it at Camp Randall too. I think it's (inexplicably, to me) crossed over into Stadium Anthem status.
  23. Did you happen to see Bill Schroeder standing behind 221 early in the game? No one approached him that I noticed.
  24. Lonely people can feel free to wave at section 222, row 15, seats 10-13 tomorrow and during any subsequent 2011 postseason games.
  25. We had a great time in 222 with the splitterpfj party. The people in front of us weren't quite as ADD as we're used to encountering in our regular season family section seats, so I guess we had that going for us, which was nice. We did overhear a couple of doozies from the party behind us - for example: Guy behind us: "So what exactly is the deal with Nyjer Morgan and this...T...Plush?" Woman behind us, after Yo walked someone: "They'd better get their bats going because the pitching isn't going anywhere." Same woman, a few minutes later: "I hardly know anyone on the Brewers' roster." So glad these folks are here instead of diehards. Oh, well. One of my best memories from the 2008 NLDS was how turbocharged the crowd and atmosphere were for that Saturday game 3. From my vantage point (since consider who was sitting behind me), today's crowd was maybe a notch less energetic. However, in the post-game tailgate a few of us bf.netters discussed that and reasoned that (1) it wasn't an elimination game, like the first home game was in '08; (2) it was kind of like the fans realize, as do the players, that the work isn't done and just being there isn't quite enough this time. Still, I had a mighty happy afternoon. Like others have said, that 7-2 putout at home plate in the first was absolutely huge. Arizona was on the verge of getting the momentum, and the Brewers pretty much said, "Uh-uh...it's ours." And like the rest of you, I was flummoxed that the D-backs left Ian Kennedy in to pitch to Prince. 109 pitches, what could go wrong? That was kind of Yostian, but I won't complain about the result. So, yeah, happy tonight, and geeked out over the opportunity to take my nephew to a postseason game Sunday. Don't let up, Brewers.
